Hey my lovely readers.

How are you all?

Are you all enjoying the book so far?

Let's begin with the chapter now.

Akash's POV

I was never prepared for the turn of events, especially when we all know how vulnerable Kriti is.

I looked at Siya and silently asked her to accompany Kriti.

She nodded and went to Kriti's room.

I then turned to Sid and grabbing his collar, gritting my teeth, I asked him "what did you do?"

"I did nothing wrong" he said, grabbing my hands.

"How come you did nothing? You hurt her" I shouted on his face.

"I know I fucked up bad and I've hurt her, more than before because of my reasons but I...I couldn't think of anything else when I saw her with that...that boy" he said with irritation.

Rubbing my head, I said "if you couldn't keep your jealousy in check, why did you let her go in the first place? Did you listen to her what she said before going to her room? She said that you think she's a gold digger. You've really disappointed me today Sid."

Saying that, I sat on the couch keeping my hands on my head as I didn't know what to do to make her feel better and make the situation a little manageable.

"I know you're upset with me but think about me Akash. I couldn't see her growing close to Sanchit, when I very well know he has something in his heart for her. You tell me would you ever like Siya to spend time with anyone when you know he has feelings for her? Did you forget what chaos you created back in college when you got to know Mohit's feelings for Siya?" he said.

I looked at him and sighed heavily because I knw he was right.

"Look, I know, I messed up bad and she's hurt, more than before but I couldn't hold it any longer" he said.

"Sid, if you remember, we agreed for you to gain her apology first and then you were supposed to approach her with your feelings. But now, thanks to you and your impulse behavior, she's got more than in her plate to absorb all these things at once" I said, sighing.

"Though she doesn't show anything, but she's really a very sensitive girl. I don't know how would I be able to face her. You know I've already promised her that if she isn't comfortable  around you, I'll help make sure that you don't bother her" I said, looking at him.

"What? Why did you say that to her?" he said, exasperated.

"Sid, more than you, she was the one who was hurt. Though she never expressed it but it would only take an insensitive person to not figure out how hurt she was. Moreover, she has all the rights in the world to decide for herself if she wants to give you a chance or not and I wanted to be with her just as a friend" I explained my point of view to him.

"Believe me Sid, if she gives you a chance, I am sure nobody would be as much happy as I would be but at the same time, I want her to give you a chance with her full heart, not just because someone asks her to do so. That way, your chances to convince her would be higher" I said.

"I know what you're saying is right but it was becoming very difficult for me to control my emotions around her and when I saw him looking at Kriti like he admires her, I lost it" he said, keeping his hands on his head.

Keeping my hands on his shoulder, I said "believe me Sid, I know how it feels because I've gone through the same phase. Though it was just a façade that Siya pulled, even then the thought was enough to make me lose my mind" I said, remembering the time when Siya herself told me that she's getting married to Mohit.

"I know Akash. I know it very well how you lost your mind but honestly speaking, I don't have enough courage to see her go with someone that's not me" he said, sighing.

Patting his hands, I said "give her some time. I am sure everything will be sorted with time."

Scoffing he said "you think after today's incident she'll even want to see my face?"

"Sid, even if you agree or not, you know it very well that this was all your fault and she has all the right in the world to avoid you all her life and cut all her ties with you, if she wants" I said.

"No Akash, please help me. I can't let that happen" he said, holding my hands in his.

I could see a tear roll down his cheeks.

I couldn't see my best friend and Kriti suffering.

Wiping his tears and hugging him, I said "don't worry Sid, let me see what I can do for you. You know it very well that I wanted both of you to be together for a long time but when the time came you fucked it bad."

"I know, but please help me" he said desperately.

"Look Sid, I can't promise you anything right now but I can try" I said and he hugged me.

"I can't live without her" he said, breaking the hug.

"I know. Why don't you go to our flat and freshen up? Meanwhile I'll see if I can do something about the situation or she needs time" I suggested.

"Okay" he said and walked out of the flat closing the main door behind him.

Sighing, I rubbed my face in frustration.

I wasn't even sure if I should go meet her or not as I very well know she needed time but I decided to go to her.

Reaching outside her room, I knocked on the door.

"Come in" I could hear her hoarse voice.

Taking a deep breath, I entered her room but the scene in front of me broke my heart.

Kriti was sitting on the bed with her head on headboard but her eyes were red and puffy, indicating that she had been crying.

I swear to god if Sid would've been here, I would've kicked him in the guts.

"Oh bhaiya, please come" she said, wiping her tears and patting on the bed, asking me to sit.

She tried smiling but it didn't reach her eyes.

When I looked at Siya, she had a worried look on her face.

I nodded at her, assuring that I would try to handle the situation, even when I wasn't sure if I could do it or not but for them, I had to at least try.

"Hey princess, how are you?" I asked, touching her cheeks.

"I am fine bhaiya" she said with a small smile.

"I know you're not" I said, cupping her face and that was enough to break her, again.

She kept her head on my shoulder and started sobbing again.

I let her cry as much as she wants because I wanted all the pent up frustration and anger of years to melt away.

"Shhh princess...please don't cry" I said, rubbing her arms, trying to coax her.

"Siya, please get me some water" I said to her and nodding, she went to the kitchen, probably to get water.

"Shhh Kriti, please calm down" I said but she didn't stop crying.

"Here" Siya came after few minutes, handling me a glass of water.

I made Kriti drink the water and after few minutes, when she stopped sobbing, I made her lay on the bed and covered her with the quilt.

Siya sat beside her, holding her hands and rubbing it to soothe her.

"Why did he do this to me?" she whispered after a few minutes of silence.

"Do I look or behave like a gold digger bhaiya?" she asked with choked voice, looking at me.

Her statement broke my heart.

Caressing her hair, I said "you can never behave like a gold digger because you aren't."

"Couldn't he see the respect in my eyes for him? For our friendship?" she asked again.

I didn't have answer to it, so I looked down.

Scoffing she said "your silence speaks volumes bhaiya. I now know, what you and Sid think about me."

"No princess, please don't say this. I very well know you can be anything but a gold digger" I said.

"If you could see it, then why couldn't he?" she asked with tears flowing from her eyes again.

"I don't want to talk about him, please. I want to sleep, if you don't mind" she said after a few minutes.

"I won't let you sleep without having anything. Just give me fifteen minutes, I'll prepare something. Please sleep after eating it" saying this Siya stood to go to the kitchen.

"That's okay Siya, you don't have to worry about me" she said with a week smile.

"No Kriti, please just fifteen minutes, I'll be back" she said and sprinted to the kitchen.

Looking at her she chuckled.

"At least you smiled" I said.

"Yeah, I've her. She's more than enough for me." Kriti said, looking at Siya's retreating figure

"You know bhaiya, why do I always cherish my and Siya's friendship?" she asked and I shook my head.

"When I was in school, everyone used to think that I am rich spoilt brat and they used to maintain distance from me. I made many fake friends, who used to be with me because of my family background, money or status but she's different" she said.

"How?" I asked with a small smile.

Well I always feel proud when someone praises her.

"That's because she knew it from the very beginning that I belong to a rich background but she never befriended me for money. She befriended me because she wanted a true friend, a confidante. She's a gem bhaiya" she said and looked at me.

"Even now, she's bothered about the fact that I would sleep without having food so she asked me to wait so that she could cook something for me and I wouldn't sleep empty stomach" she said.

"She's s gem. Don't let her slip away" she said.

"I know she is and so are you" I said, palming her cheeks, giving her a small smile.

"I am not bhaiya" she whispered.

"Yes you're. Any person who would've you would be one lucky bastard" I said.

She didn't say anything just hummed.

Siya's POV

I prepared dinner and went to Kriti's room.

I was sad because my best friend was crying her heart out and I was helpless, I couldn't do anything to help her and the situation.

The least I could do for her is take care of her when she's feeling so low.

Masking my sadness with a fake smile, I entered her room.

"Dinner for you" I said, smiling,

"What did you cook so fast?" she asked, sitting on the bed.

"Your favorite" I said and opened the lid.

"Oh my god, white sauce paste" she squealed like a kid.

"Yup" I said and served a plate for her.

At least she was happy seeing the food.

"But how did you cook it so fast?" she asked, taking a bite from it.

"Well I made the sauce today morning so it saved time. I just had to boil the pasta and added it" I said, shrugging.

Moaning at the taste, she said "you know you're the best."

"I know" I said, raising my imaginary collar.

"Even I want to taste it" Akash said, whining.

When he was about to take a bite from her plate, I swatted his hands away.

"It's not for you. It's for her" I said with fake anger.

"But even I want to want it" he said.

"You'll get to eat, but I'll prepare for us later" I said.

"Okay" he said, sighing.

She ate the dinner in silence.

All the time we both were looking at her.

Though I knew the reason of Sid treating her that way as he himself had told me about it a few days ago but I never thought this from Kriti's point of view.

Listening to her outburst today, I came to know her point of view of the whole situation.

"I am done. Now if you both don't mind I would like to get some beauty sleep as I don't want to go to office tomorrow with red and puffy eyes, looking like a zombie" she said dramatically.

"Okay okay" I said and smiled.

"Take care princess" Akash said and kissed her forehead.

"Remember my promise to you. Nothing will happen without your consent. You just have to tell me what you want, okay?" he said and she nodded.

"Good night" we said and covering her with the quilt, made our way to the living room closing the door of her room behind us.

We then made our way to the living room and sat beside each other on the couch.

Akash pulled me towards him and I laid my head on his shoulder.

He was gently caressing my hair and I closed my eyes, feeling his fingers on my scalp which was relaxing me.

"Don't think much" he said after a few minutes of silence.

I looked at him with my head raised and he was already looking at me.

"How can I not think about it Akash? She's so hurt" I said.

"I know, but I know for a fact that they'll sort out their differences" he said.

"What if they don't?" I asked him.

"They'll. Believe me" he said with a small smile.

"How can you be so sure Akash?" I asked him.

"That's because Sid will not let his life slip away, just like that" he said.

"Huh. What do you mean" I asked confused.

"You know all these years, I saw him yearning for her. He wasn't brave enough to face her after what he did but today I saw fear in his eyes" he said.

"Fear? Of what?" I asked.

"Fear of losing Kriti. The same fear which I had once for you" he said and looked at me.

"You know something baby? Men are a little complicated than women. When they start developing feelings for someone, they usually get into denial phase" he said and I listened to him carefully.

"Then when they realize that their 'love interest' is probably slipping from their hands, they start acting all possessive. Same was the case with Sid when we were in college" he said and I remembered how possessively he behaved in their farewell.

"He had created a scene back when we were college but was in denial and came up with that stupid explanation" he said scoffing.

"Lucky for him, when we lost touch, she didn't get into a relationship with anyone. Just think about it Siya, when he just saw her with Sanchit, he couldn't control himself and blurted everything out. If she would've been in a relationship he would've created riots by now" he said and I scoffed.

"You think they'll sort their differences out?" I asked him hopefully.

"They'll, don't worry baby. What are we for?" he said with a wicked smile, making me smile as well.

"Just remember, whatever happens between them, we'll have to be patient" he said and I agreed.

"I think we should've dinner now" I said.

"Okay then, I'll change and come along with Sid" he said and kissing my forehead, went away.

They came back after few minutes and I served them dinner.

Sid wasn't meeting my gaze and the dinner was quite awkward.

When I couldn't control myself, I said "Sid, you don't have to feel embarrassed about anything."

"I know Siya, it's just that, I am feeling very guilty" he said and looked down.

"As long as Kriti is fine, I don't mind anything" I said.

"How...how's she?" he asked after few seconds.

"She's fine. Taking rest of course" I said with a small smile.

"Did she...did she have her dinner?" he asked.

I smiled at his caring gesture.

"Don't worry. I made sure to feed her before she slept" I said and he gave me a small smile.

"Gaining her apology is your task Sid and you need to convince her" I said.

"Don't worry Siya, I won't let her go, not this time" he said and gave me a reassuring smile.
