Getting up each morning at six a.m had quickly become my routine, I used to hate it- and being tired all the time wasn't fun. But my body clock had gradually changed and accepted it.

After showering and dressing in a black pencil skirt, and black blouse as usual, I put on my black kitten heels that I adored, and tied my long blonde hair up into a bun.

My best friend Alexa always complained at how I dressed like a school matron for work, and had convinced me one Saturday to go shopping for a new work wardrobe.
Sadly, much to her annoyance, it's still in my closet with the tags left on. I felt comfortable in the clothes I wear to work, so why change?

Arriving at the office at seven a.m on the dot, I walked into Mr Steele's office, and placed his coffee onto his desk ready for him. I'd stopped on the way here as usual to get my daily dose of liquid gold, and felt loads better.

Looking around Mr Steele's office I was surprised he wasn't already in, I usually get a text or email if he's going to be running late. We have an important meeting scheduled for half past eight, and I wonder if he's forgotten.

Before I leave, I spot some folders on the floor by his desk and pick them up before heading back out.
Going into my office next door, I fire up my computer and check my emails to see if he's contacted me.
Not finding anything, I send a few emails, and do a few quick phone calls that are urgent, before setting the boardroom up ready for Mr Salvador's meeting.

At eight a.m, with still no word from Mr Steele I start panicking. Where can he be? After trying his cell and getting no response, I ring Margaret.
She's confused when I ring her, and assures me that John set off at the usual time and even rang her from his office phone over an hour ago, complaining that someone had spilt coffee on him as he'd entered the building.
I get a really bad feeling, and tell Margaret I'll ring her back.

Grabbing my bag to leave for the meeting, I decide to check his office one more time.
Seeing it still empty, I knock on the bathroom he had installed in there. Not hearing anything I turn to leave, only to freeze hearing a groan of pain.
Slamming open the door, I scream, shocked at what I see.

Mr Steele is sat slumped against the sinks, and looks awful. He's obviously in a lot of pain, and clutching his chest.
Rushing towards him, I grab my cell and dial for an ambulance, they assure they'll send someone straight away.

"Sir? Oh god are you okay? I'm sorry i didn't find you sooner sir, I thought you were running late until I called Margaret. Is there anything I can do?" I ask anxiously.

"Water?" He asks weakly.

Taking an unopened bottle from my bag, I open it and hand it to him, helping him drink.

"Phone Margaret? Need to talk to her?" He begs me.

I dial her number, handing it him.

I try not to listen in on their conversation, but can hear Margaret sobbing on the other end. He passes it back to me, and I place it beside me on the floor as I watch him try to stand up.

"NO! John, please you can't stand up yet, just stay there the ambulance will get here any minute." I tell him seriously.  "John? JOHN!" I scream as I watch him manage weakly to stand, then slump.

I rush forward, catching him around the waist and breaking his fall, managing to hit my head hard on the edge of the toilet as I do.

Getting him laid flat, I realise he's not breathing and panic.

"Oh shit John, shit, don't do this to me. Breathe dammit, breathe." I shout at him in panic.

Giving him CPR, I try desperately to get him breathing again. I'm not sure how long I'm doing it before the paramedics rush in, I freeze as I hear John take in a great gasp of air, and I nearly collapse in relief.

"Miss? Let us take over now, you've brought him back, now we need to get him loaded into the ambulance. You're bleeding? Are you hurt badly?" The paramedic asks gently.

"No it's just a scratch, see to John please," I tell them waving off his concern. "He stopped breathing and I started CPR, but I was so scared. He'll be okay, won't he?" I ask crying.

The paramedic nods, and goes to help his partner. As I'm watching, I hear sobbing and look around for the noise, I pale when I realise my cell phone's still connected on a call. Hearing Margaret on the other end, I realise she would of heard everything.
"Margaret? Are you well enough to meet us at the hospital?" I ask her gently.

"Yes. My son's driving me. We're nearly there, go with him Arianna, please?" She begs me through sobs.

"Of course Margaret. See you there." I reply, before hanging up.

Placing everything into my bag, I grab John's jacket and follow as they lay him onto the stretcher, and wheel him out of the building and into the ambulance.
We set off to the hospital with sirens blaring, and I just hold John's limp hand feeling completely helpless.
