Now that the challenge is over... 

I loved the original story so much, I had planned to go back and rewrite it if only for myself and a sense of completion.  I didn't get the opportunity to breathe as much life into my characters as I would have normally done with the time limit we had for the #justwriteitchallenge.  I let the want to participate overshadow my typical writing style and fleshing out. Nothing wrong with that, I came up with "the bones" of a story I really enjoyed writing.

After some great feedback and requests, I have done a lot of major edits and add-ins since it was originally posted on Wattpad.  The story has grown from a long short story with 18,992  words to a nice sized novella clocking in at over 30K words, and a lot more Steampunk elements have been added. The integrity of the plot is still there, but the story has more meat on its bones, and the characters are much more "real".

I may update the story fully here on Wattpad, that will depend on feedback and the want for it.  At this point, I am calling this a rough draft.  I have added the new prologue here at any rate. :)

And this last still applies!

Any historical inaccuracies are done purely for dramatic fiction. While the story has a basis in real history, some things had to be changed or fleshed out.
