"Is everything set?" Jada asked. Caesar nodded. The group was planning a surprise birthday party for Huey, even though he didn't want one.

They were at John Evans' Club. Decorations were hung up and they had a variety of foods and drinks out and set up. The only people attending was Riley, Jada, Jazmine, Cindy, Caesar, Jessica, and Donte. However, they still had to stay since the girls performed that night.

"Where's Jazzy?" Cindy asks, hanging up a banner.

"Distracting Huey," Caesar says. "They should be here in about 10 minutes."

Jada looked at everything. It was all set. Just a plain party with a few decorations and what not. Something simple enough for Huey.

"Jazzy just text me!" Riley yells, "They on they way!"

"Now?" Caesar looked at his watch. "But thats too early."

"We'll be fine," Jada says. "We're done anyways."

Everyone nodded, getting into place.

"You think Huey will care if we're here?" Jessica asks.

"Oh come on, Jess!" Jada says, "You live with us! Huey has actually grown comfortable with you two."

Donte nodded in agreement.

"Plus he'd be confused if we weren't here."

Jessica only nodded.

They heard a tire screech and everyone got into place.

"Jazz, why are we here?" Huey asks, "I thought you didn't perform until-"

"SURPRISE!" They all yelled. Huey looked a bit startled but he stayed contempt.

"Why did I have a feeling you guys would do this?" He questions.

"Oh lighten up," Jazmine says with a smile. "They worked really hard on this."

Huey looked at the decorations. He had to say, he was surprised they didn't go all out.

"Its.." Huey was looking for the right words, "Nice, I guess."

"Good enough for me!" Jada says with a smile.

They started eating and talking, Huey actually enjoying himself.

"Who's idea was this?" Huey asks.

"Jessica and Jada's," Jazmine says, dipping her tortilla chip in salsa.

"Really?" Huey looked over at his sister and her best friend as they talked and laughed together.

Huey smiled, reminding himself to thank them later.

"Huey!" Caesar held up a box. A couple more gifts were wrapped behind him. "You gotta open your gifts, man."

Huey walked over to the table filled with gifts. Everyone followed, sitting at the tables next to it.

Huey grabbed a blue box that felt really heavy.

"Who's it from?" Cindy asks.

"This is from Caesar," He replies, shaking the box.

"Bro, don't shake it!" Caesar laughs. "What if you break it?"

"Can it break?"

Caesar looks down,

"No."

"Then shut up."

Caesar rolls his eyes as Huey opens his gift. Inside were 3 books and a documentary. A card rested on top of them.

"Dear Huey," Huey read, "We've been friends for some shit and I'm glad to be apart of your 18th Birthday. "

"Gay!" Riley yells from the back, earning an eye roll from Huey and Caesar.

"Thanks Ceez."

The next gift was a bag. On the tag read it was from Jazmine. Huey opened the card first.

"Happy Birthday baby! Can't believe you're already 18! Time goes by fast. I love you so much and I hope your birthday is as amazing as you are. Love, Jazz."

"Aww!" Jada cooed, "Thats so cute!"

"Thanks babe," Huey says. He opens the bag. There was a black polo, 2 pairs of jeans, and some socks. "You knew I needed clothes too."

Jazmine giggles.

The next was from Riley and it was a huge rectangle shaped box with a blanket over it. A card sat in front of it.

"Nice wrapping," Huey snorts.

"Shut up, punk! Just open the damn card!" Riley snaps.

Huey rolled his eyes, opening the blue envelope. The card was clearly drawn but at least it looked good.

The front said TO MY GAY ASS BROTHER in block letter. Huey rolled his eyes, opening it.

"Happy Birthday McHater. Can't believe yo gay ass 18. Damn, you legal now son, so dont get in no trouble or you'll be facing Tom biggest fear."

"Riley you're a dick," Jessica says, knowing Jazmine's father's biggest fear of getting anally raped.

"But I hope you have a good birthday or whatever. Yo Brotha, Reezy."

"Awe Reezy, I ain't know you could be a softy," Cindy gushed, pulling Riley's cheek.

"Mane, whateva."

"It is a nice card, Riley," Huey compliments. He pulled the blanket off and everyone gasped.

"Oh wow!" Jada says. "Thats so cool!"

It was a painted picture of Huey as a character from Dragon Ball Z. Riley knew Huey had a secret love for the show.

"Not gonna lie," Huey begins. "That has to be the coolest ass thing you've ever drawn."

Riley smirked, proud that his brother liked his gift.

"Took me 6 weeks to perfect yo big ass afro. But you welcome."

The brothers gave each other dap before Huey moved on to the next gift.

It was a small box that was perfectly wrapped. A card was taped to it.

"Oh boy," Huey sighs. "From Cindy."

"Don't be a bitch and just read the damn card," Cindy huffs.

"Happy Birthday Huey. Much love to you fam on yo big day! I'm glad you finally accepted me and made me apart of your family. Happy 18th, Cindy."

Cindy smiled as everyone complimented her card. Huey opened the box and revealed a chain with 2 dog tags on it.

One had his initials, HPF, and said Live long and prosper. The other had a fist that said Black Lives Matter under it.

"Thanks white girl," Huey said with a soft smile. Cindy smiled back.

Huey had two more gifts left. The next one he got was from Donte and Jessica.

"I hope you don't mind us getting you something," Jessica says.

"Why would I mind?" Huey asks. "You're apart of the family too."

Jessica smiled as Jada gave her an I told you so look.

"Happy Birthday Huey! Even though we haven't known each other long, I'm glad that we can call you a close friend and hopefully family. Happy 18th Brithday from Jess and Don."

Huey opened the box and inside was a new laptop and laptop case with Hueys name on it.

"Damn, thats crisp!" Caesar whistled.

"Thanks Jess. Donte."

The couple smiled, giving him a nod.

"Last one is from Jada," Huey annonces. He opened the card. A gift card to Barnes and Noble came out.

"Happy Birthday Hue! Can't believe you're 18 now. Damn you're old! I'm so happy I got an amazing older brother like you. You really have grown to become a sweet, caring, and confident man and I'll be by your side always and forever. I love you the most, Jada!"

Everyone in the room awed at Jada's thoughtful card. The small Freeman blushed. Huey opened Jada's gift and almost teared up. It was a blown up picture of the two when they were little. Jada was 3 while Huey was 6. Huey was holding up ABC blocks and showing her which letter was which.

Huey went to his sister and hugged her.

"Thanks, Jay."

"Of course," Jada says, kissing her brother's cheek.

Later that day, people started coming in, ready to see the girls perform.

"This one goes to my older brother, Huey!" Jada says on stage. "Happy birthday, big bro!"

The music began and Jada sang Alphabet Boy (By Melanie Martinez). Huey smiled. This had been the best birthday he had ever had.
