Just a chappy about Donte...

Donte POV~

I was 12 when my mother and father got divorced. They weren't happy I guess and what I wanted didn't matter. My mom took me to live with her sister, (my aunt) Layla. Aunt Layla was cool an all but her son was a total pain in the ass. Angelo wasn't the sweetest kid. I mean, to ladies he was but when it came to me, he was a total dick. Even as kids, all he wanted was the center of attention.

We both went to church. Our mothers both being raised into the christian life. I didn't care too much about it. I mean, I guess it was alright. But being forced into the choir wasn't all that fun.

"But mama," I whined. I was 7. I didn't wanna sing in the choir again. "I hate being in the choir. Angel always steals the spotlight and there ain't no point for me."

"I know, baby. But think of it like this," My mom smiles softly, "Angel isn't singing today since he isn't feeling good. But the choir directly gave you, your very own solo today! You love singing, don't you?"

"Yea."

"Well, go out there and shine!"

My mom was from the south. Louisiana was where her and my Aunt Layla grew up and they both grew up singing in the church.

I was told my voice was angelic. Ironically, my voice was better than Angel's. But he looked the part more than I did.

As we grew up, Angel and I didn't really get along at all. We honestly hated each other more and more as time went on. Angelo was all about being in the people's eye and becoming someone that everyone adored. I was more the guy that liked to be in the shadows and do my own thing. Yet, I ended up getting more attention than he did.

"You think you're cool?" He questions.

"No. Never once was that a thought I had."

"Well you seem to act like."

"You're not gonna do shit about it," I say, squaring up to him. Angelo may have talked a big game, but he wasn't about it. He never once tried to fight back whenever I stepped up to him. He knew I'd knock his ass down.

Before my parents got divorced, my dad used to box with me. He put me in all types of different fighting camps and made sure I knew how to defend myself. I was honestly really good at it, and it helped me clear my head.

"Listen," I tell him, "All that fame shit is for you. I don't want none of it. But don't throw a bitch fit when I get it and you don't."

Angelo only huffed.

I grew up in Louisiana after my parents divorced and soon started living in Woodcrest, Maryland when I turned 15. Angelo and I soon met this kid named Calvin who was more friends with Angel than me.

Since we all sang, we formed a group called MoTown. At first we sang at house parties Calvin hosted but Angelo heard that there was a club not too far from us that had a girl group singing. The Crybabies. They were honestly really good. Especially their lead, Jada.

Soon after meeting them, they were honestly all pretty cool. Their manager, Jessica was especially cool. She was really sweet and kind, and not to mention beautiful.

Angelo talked about Jada a lot. He found her absolutely gorgeous and super talented. Both were true, Jada was very appealing to look at and her voice could silence a crowd, but to what I knew, she had a boyfriend.

"So what? With her by my arm, we'll be all everyone talks about."

"So you're using her for publicity?" I question. "That's not a surprise."

"Whatever, don't hate."

Hating isn't even in my vocabulary. Especially when it's hating on Angel.

Soon, Angelo's 5 seconds of fame went to shit when Jada beat the shit outta him and dumped him for the nigga she was already with.

After that, Motown disbanded. I didn't want shit to do with my power hungry cousin and his following ass friend. To be honest, I wanted to continue singing though.

Jessica and I had grown close during my time with Motown. Eventually, I asked her out and we started dating.

Then Caesar and Jada disappeared after a while. Jessica thought they just wanted time alone but nobody just disappears.

Soon I overheard Jazmine talking about some nigga name Cairo.

He sounded like a douche bag. Apparently he hated Huey's guts and wanted take revenge on something retarded.

Soon, Jessica told me that they were all in trouble and that Jada had some sort of secret bunker that held all types of weapons.

I told her I'd be there shortly. I wanted to train a little first. Its been a while since I've been in a fight.

"Going somewhere?" Angelo questions. I say nothing, just push him out my way and leave.

I found Jessica getting beat by this dude and jumped in. He looked Jamaican, but like a wannabe. After knocking him down and fighting a few other guys, we all heard a cry.

Looking was Jada bending this girl's hand to no return. Samantha Parker. Calvin liked her. She was a bitch that only liked things that went her way. I never came to understand her but whatever I guess.

After Jada broke Samantha's hand, Caesar killed Cairo, and my girlfriend viciously cut the dude's head off, we all fled.

The girl gang Jada was in said we all couldn't stay here. We had to leave.

That was some hard shit I had to explain to my mom.

"So.. You have to leave?" She asks. She was crying. Me, her only child, was leaving her so suddenly.

"I'll be back to visit shortly," I tell her. "JEC wants me to sing solo and they're moving everyone to Chicago. I'll be fine, mom, I promise."

My mom nods, crying. My heart broke. She was crying and it was my fault.

"Please, mom. Didn't you always want me to be a singer and make lots money?"

My mom nods, sniffing.

"Okay Donnie. I love you baby."

I smile, a tear falling.

"I love you more mama. I'll be back to visit before you know it!"

We all moved in a big ass house in Chicago that had enough rooms to fit us all. Since we all dated, we all shared rooms.

Caesar and Jada were upstairs. Riley and Cindy were across the hall from them with Huey and Jazmine next to them. Jessica and I stayed downstairs in a room around the corner from the living room.

"This is our lives now," Jessica says. I smiled. I was happy to have her. She made me happy and was always there with that bright smile.

As time passed I grew really close with everyone.

Huey was one of my closest friends in the house. I looked up to him for knowledge and he taught me a lot of new fighting styles.

Riley was dope as hell. Me and him talked a lot on a deep level. We alwaye competed playing basketball too where he normally got his ass kicked.

Jada was fun to be around. She always joked and brightened the room. Me and her grew a brother/sister relationship and often sang together at JEC.

Jazmine treated me like a little brother. She always had my best interest at heart and included me in things I wasn't very interested in.

Cindy was also someone I played basketball with. We both loved sports and connected off that.

Soon, I was offered a label deal and took that. I was doing concerts and working in the studio. Jessica became my manager and we traveled everywhere together.

Soon, however, I grew tired of constantly performing and joined Jada for her last days of her tour. I went home not too long after and started going back to school.

That shit was worse than I thought it would be. People were constantly asking for autographs, girls wanted to take pictures, guys wanted to fight cause my name was in their girl's mouth. It was tiring.

But I loved living everyday with the Freemans. They were all a lot of fun to be around and I learned a lot from them.
