"Wow, they looked like little Galahads."

There were six baby kitties - so cute and so fluffy - in a combination of gray and white, and with eyes of blue, brown and green.

"Seems like our Galahad stayed with the mommy and guarded her until she gave birth.", Poppy said as he moved the babies towards the mommy for them to latch her milk. "If she happens to give birth at the park, people might agitate her babies. She's lucky you found her immediately."

"Did we save her, Poppy?"

Poppy smiled, "Both of you did a good job. Galahad too."

We petted Galahad and said. "Good job, Daddy Galahad."

The mother kitty was white and petite, and when we curiously stroke her soft body, she mewed.

"Can we keep her, Poppy?", I asked.

"We have to check first if she has an owner, then we’ll see if we can keep it here."

We almost jumped for joy and began to cuddle the little kitties, but we're reprimanded that baby kitties were too sensitive to be played at the moment.

So we just observed them from afar.

"I think Galahad was ready to scratch anybody's faces if they’ve been discovered besides us.", my sibling commented, trying to imitate Galahad's stoic expression that had us laughing.

"Any daddy would do protect its mommy and babies in case of danger.", Poppy said. "Your Daddy also did the same."

"Did Da also stayed with Ma the whole, whole time?"

"Of course. He guarded your Ma the whole time. He's...we'll, your Da was kind of unfocused that day, just like Galahad here wherein you assumed he ran away."

"What did Da do then?"

Grinning, Poppy told us a story how Da ran into frenzy, bypassed all traffic violations, and panicked into proportions when Ma gave birth to us.

Now that's a story we never heard before.

And as we listened to the words hospital, medicine and doctors – three things Ma hated the most - we knew Da must have a bad time.

"Did Ma had lots of pains and lots of blood as well?", my sibling asked again, "Did she suffered like mommy kitty?"

Poppy pulled us closer and make us sat at his lap.

“All the pains your Ma and Da had suffered that day disappeared when they first saw the cutest and the most lovable babies in the world. That was one of the best moments happened in our lives.”

I remembered when Ma got sick and I was stuck in the house because I got school suspension, she talked lots of things about us – our nine months in her womb, our first walk, our first talk, our first school, and many more.

“Did you see the mommy kitty there, how she kissed her babies to sleep? Your Ma and Da did lots of that to both of you. Try to imagine what would be mommy kitty’s reaction if one of her babies were lost?”

“She’ll be sad.”, we answered.

The worry we felt when Galahad was gone was similar to what Ma and Da felt when we left the house, or probably it’s even more.

“Are we bad kids, Poppy?”, I asked. “We made Ma and Da sad today.”

“Both of you we’re not bad kids – just innocent, but not ignorant of what’s right or wrong”, Poppy replied. “You were both our pride and joy, but sometimes, you two were the cause of your parent’s headaches, and the reasons of my hypertensions.”

“Sorry.”, we said as we hugged Poppy.

We returned upstairs and saw that Ma and Da’s room was locked.

“Are they sleeping again?”

“Maybe.”, I answered, looking at the red light. “Or maybe they were working? But they were not in their offices.”

“Maybe they were sleeping again. They probably woke up early.”, my sibling said, pouting. “Ma did not answer my question where babies came from.”

“We could ask Unregistered. But Da locked it again, and he’ll gonna ground us if we wrecked it. Why not ask Poppy instead?”

“Poppy is not a mommy.”

Several thoughts ran through our minds – that also includes whether we should open the door, or not.
