EXCERPT

Trystan grinned. "I can make you happy."

"I don't doubt that. I'm sure you can make almost any woman happy. It's just that the timing is wrong. Two years from now, maybe." She shrugged and he looked alarmed at her mention of two years.

"Honestly, Debra, I don't give a fuck about the timing. Excuse my language, but you said it yourself, your relationship with Drake ended long before the break up." He hopped off the wall, landing on his good foot and started to pace around. The lag in his step was more pronounced now than earlier.

"I did say that, but I'm still hurting, Trystan. If you can't understand that, then there was never anything between us to begin with. I like you, so don't make me unlike you."

She hopped off the wall as well. His pacing was driving her mad. She took a hold of his arm, her fingers coiling in the fine fabric of his suit. He stopped moving to stare at her and she lifted her hand to touch his beard, her eyes locked in on his irresistible mouth. Exasperated, he leaned his forehead against hers, pulling her body near. A tingle shot through her spine where his hand touched her.

"I'm sorry," he said. "It's just that I feel these emotions when I'm around you."

His breath fanned out against her cheek and she wanted nothing more than to tell him what he wanted to hear. She curbed the urge to kiss him again, to feel those masculine lips on hers once more. He was a marvelous kisser, passionate too. When he kissed her, he put everything he had into it.

Denying herself that kiss was like trying to resist chocolate. She could barely breathe with need, but kissing him would only lead him on.

"I'm sorry too," she whispered into the space between them.

Her lids lowered as she reveled in the feel of his forehead pressed against hers, the warmth of his strong arms wrapped around her, the evening wind cooling her heated skin, and she sighed with pleasure.

He stepped away from her, slowly unwrapping her from his embrace. "Do you want to go back inside?"

She shook her head. She wasn't ready to say goodbye just yet. The more time she spent in his company the more she craved. There was so much still she didn't know about him. "Tell me what happened to your leg."

"Alright." He looked relieved that she didn't want to be rid of him just yet.

Debra turned around to face the moon, her hands resting on the wall. Trystan came up behind her and her heart vibrated in her chest when the scent of his cologne drifted up to her nose. His strong arms slithered pass her, caging her in. She leaned into him and he started talking, the rumble of his voice sounding like music to her ears.

Except, the words he spoke next were heartbreaking.
