four years later.

Dear Ameer,

If you're reading this I passed away. In my last days I wrote a note for everyone that I loved, including Jaia, I hope that you will read it to her and let her know who I am throughout her life.

It sickens me to know that our story got cut short so soon, a little over a year for us, who knows how many more we would've had. If I didn't say it enough I love you, I love you so much. Our love taught me so much about myself and the type of love I give, I hope that it has taught you things about yourself too.

I'm so happy that I was able to share Jaia with you, and leave something behind in this world, a part of me that will live forever through her and her kids, and her kids kids, and her kids kids kids and to know that I will never be forgotten. I want you to know that no matter how hard the days may be, you will be okay, I will be there, and our love will keep you strong.

If marriage was in our future, I do.

If more kid's were in our future, I wanted them.

If building that house was in our future, I was ready.

I was ready for my whole life with you.

"Daddy!" I looked up from the frame in my hands that held the note Tootie had written for me at Jaia.

"Yes, Chanel?"

"It's mommy's birfday." I nodded standing up and picking her up. "Her 23."

"Yup, mommy's 23 today." I nodded. "We'll go tell her happy birthday like before."

"Then we go to school?" I nodded.

"That's not til later though, Toot."

"I hungry." she said.

"Where's Nova?" I asked noticing her not running up behind Toot.

"Her sleep still."

"Go wake her up." I put her down on the ground, allowing her to run to Nova's room. Clicking on Instagram I smiled seeing Tootie's face as the first one.

"Daddy her not wake up!" Jaia yelled from the steps making me walk up them to Nova's room.

"Grace get up mama." I opened up her curtains and she put the cover over her head.

"Nooooo." she groaned. Her and Jaia were complete opposites, it was funny.

"Okay then I guess you don't wanna go see mama Toot?" I asked and she pulled the cover from over her head. "It's her birthday, you don't wanna take her flowers?"

"Yes." she said.

"Well get up then." I said. "And brush them teeth cause your breath humming."

I stared at Jaia as she stared at the tv that was on Disney junior. I could easily see so much of Tootie in her from her looks to her personality. "Daddy."

"Yes Nova?" I asked searching through her closet for something to put on.

"We go see Kenzie?" she asked.

"We'll see everyone later tonight." I told her.

"Get out my face!" Jaia shouted.

"How you mad you can't ride on his back? That is a dog not no damn horse." Pooter said pushing her off Bills, she hit the floor with a thud.

"Now why would you do that?" Kenzie asked helping Jaia up. "You always doing something."

"Daddy him push me." Jaia said walking up to me pointing at Pooter.

"I don't care about you telling your ugly ass dad, I'll push his ass too."

"Push him back, Toot." I told her as Nova punched him.

"Don't push her!" she shouted and Pooter pushed her too.

"Y'all lil ass girls do not scare me." he said and I shook my head.

"Grow up." I spoke as Kenzie helped me with my tie. "Literally grow the fuck up."

"Tell these motherfuckers to grow up." he said.

"They 4 nigga!" I said looking at him like he was dumb.

"They wanna run up like they grown they gon get beat up like they grown." he said shrugging. "Nova I will really wear you out girl please."

"It's a big day." Kenzie said to me. "You ready?"

I nodded looking at my tie in the mirror. "I been ready."

"Okay, let's go." Kenzie said. "Alright girls, you have to be really careful not to mess up your pretty dresses."

"Kenzie, is I'm a princess?" Nova asked.

"Hell no." Pooter responded before she could.

"Shut up stupid!" Jaia said.

"Aye, watch your mouth." I said as we walked out of the building. The press was there, friends and family, today was a big day.

Long time of planning and preparing for it.

"Sorry." she mumbled.

"Hi, everyone." I said walking to the podium where the microphones were.

"Ameer, why are you opening school?"

"In the memory of my brother, Ahmad, and the love of my life, Jodecy." I said. "My brother loved school before he died and my girl, well she has her own successful business but she loved kids and we talked about me opening a school all the time and she supported me."

"Is this a distraction from your rowdy past? These past years many would say you've been out of control in the media."

"I don't really care about what the media think of me. I went through my shit after Jodecy died and I did some things I'm not proud of, this ain't to distract nobody from anything, this is something I decided to do to remember my loved ones. Y'all can take it how y'all want, I honestly don't care." I said shrugging. "I opened a school in the inner city, with teachers and staff that I hand picked who will actually care about these kids and classes and curriculum that will prepare these kids for future after high school whether it's college or opening a business or anything."

"Do you deny putting your hands on Angel Nicole?"

"I never put my hands on that girl, I got two daughters, what I look like putting my hands on a female? That's not what this for and if anybody else ask me about that girl you getting escorted out." I said getting agitated.

"Ameer do you have anything to say to the inner city children who will be attending your school this coming school year?"

"All I have to say is I understand what it feels like to not wanna come to school because you'd rather sell drugs on a corner or life at home just so bad you don't have the energy to come to school and deal with teachers who could give a fuck if you learned the lesson or not, I get that, and that's why I opened this school. When y'all come here y'all will be surrounded by people who love and care about you and want to succeed." I said. "Cause I ain't have that and neither did Ahmad."

"And if you could say anything to Jodecy or Ahmad right now, what would it be?"

"I would ask them if they were proud of me."
