=========================

Should I consider myself lucky, for being freed from the pain?

Or is it just unfortunate, that I had to lose my sight in exchange for it?

When I woke up, I laid on what felt like a bed. A bed that felt unfamiliar.

Being suddenly aware, I realised I was also wearing clothes that didn't feel like mine. Frowning, I took in a deep breath, which resulted in the strong smell of antiseptic to shoot up my nose.

Putting the pieces together, I guessed that I was in the hospital.

Reaching towards my face, I realised what felt like bandages were wrapped around my eyes.

Honestly, it's not like the bandages would make a difference. The only thing I could and would ever see from now on are just silhouettes, light and shadows.

When I sat up on the bed, I felt a somewhat familiar hand resting on the blanket.

I grabbed their arm, reaching outwards carelessly to try and 'see' who they are.

And what do you know, my hand landed on their face.

Not going to lie, I didn't know what to do to salvage this now awkward situation. So, I just felt around their face.

As I let my hands roam freely, I eventually touched something that felt so thick and so soft. Hair. This cause them to giggle.

And I instantly knew who they were.

Midoriya.

I smiled, knowing that I was in safe hands.

After a round of check-up and being told that I could go home the next day, Midoriya grabbed my arm, dragging me out towards a place unknown.

Judging by the sound of birds singing, we were probably in a park, courtyard or somewhere along the lines. After walking for awhile, we finally sat down on a bench.

As if we've been best friends from the start, he started bursting out in a happy chatter.

You know, listening to Midoriya talk was really relaxing. He talked about everything and anything, from school, to what's happening at home. I didn't really reply him, but I did enjoy every moment we spent on that bench; it was a great distraction for whatever happened.

I'm also kind of glad that he didn't mention anything about him.

In the subsequent weeks, we made it a thing to meet up like that and just talk, even after I was allowed to go home from the hospital. He'd pick me up from my house every single day, and guide me to the park nearby.

In school, he kind of became my eyes. I felt really bad, since it felt as if I was 'taking advantage' of him, but he insisted that it was alright. We'd always walk together to class, and eventually we became an inseparable duo.

Today was no different, other than the fact that school ended a little later than usual.

I grabbed hold of Midoriya's wrist, ready for him to take the usual path to the park. However, something felt different. Even though I couldn't see his facial expression, the vibe he gave off was wrong.

We finally reached the our usual spot, but I still couldn't shake that feeling I had from just now. As we sat down, I was waiting for the male to start talking about something. Yet, silence ensued. The only thing that could be heard was the shuffling of clothing beside me.

I turned to my right, knowing that he was there. I placed my hand on his thigh, or arm, i'm not sure which, and asked, "Are... you okay?"

No reply.

I was becoming more worried. He's never like that. Did I do something wrong?

I was going to reach out to touch his face, to sort of feel his expression, when I heard a familiar twinkle. A chill ran down my spine.

I paused.

Again, a twinkle. This time, the sound of crystals shattering could be heard. My face paled. I know what it was.

I lurched forward, hands on his face. His cheeks were wet.

I touched his tears, hearing them shatter under my fingertips.

I said nothing, but I didn't know what to say anyways.

His hand held mine, and I could feel a sad smile seemingly form on his face.

He tells me,

"I guess i'm the fool now, huh?"
