CW: cursing, violence, gore, death

=========================
Ironic.

It truly is so ironic.

We're out here fighting violence with violence.

We're doing the same exact shit that they're doing.

Yet, we're the 'good' guys?

Gosh, I just hope that he's okay.

I hope that he's not hurt, not caught, and doing just fine.

Besides that, i'm awfully tired.

Trailing behind your heavily experienced mentor isn't fun. I had to sneak around so often for fear of being noticed, since i'm nowhere near their caliber. Fuck, i'd almost slipped up one too many times. Besides, it's the middle of the night; who decided that it was a great idea to fight at such a time?

You know, I was really against getting myself involved in this whole situation. Not because of the fighting, but more of the fact that he'd be involved. I mean, why would a hotshot villain like him be missing out on this. Well, I don't think he had a choice either way.

This whole thing was definitely planned, as prior to this, he had asked me to skip work these few days. More so, he even said that I should go into hiding. Concerned for my safety, he says.

Bakugō Katsuki, you idiot. Wouldn't I be concerned for your safety too?

"Hey buddy, pay attention."

I shook my head, looking towards my mentor. They gestured towards a group of villains not far from us.

"Make sure to keep your guard up."

I nodded.

I reached for my belt, where everything I needed was. Unbeknownst to me, while I was fumbling for my tools, someone had their eyes on me. They were lurking around the corner, waiting for the right moment to strike. Coincidentally, my back was faced towards them, and I had just dropped something, so when I bent down to pick it up, they struck.

Now that I think about it, I wonder why the both of us didn't notice them.

I couldn't even turn around in time when I heard the crunching of gravel right behind me. Before I knew it, I was pushed over by someone twice my size. I looked up in horror, only to notice the dagger they held in their hands.

Funny isn't it, bringing a weapon when many others simply use their quirk.

They pushed their dagger deep into my flesh, over and over again. I kicked and screamed, out of fear and pain. Only after stabbing me a good few times did they stop, only because they were knocked unconscious.

I laid there on the ground, trying to steady my breathing as I touched my wounds. Wet and warm. I lifted my arms up, shaking at the sight of my blood-filled hands.

"Buddy? Oh shit, oh fuck," the hero says, crouching right beside me.

They placed their hands over mine, applying pressure at the wounds. I winced, which caused them to immediately pull their arms away.

They looked at their hands, a horrified look spreading across their face.

I wasn't hopeful about my situation. So many stab wounds, so much blood loss, am I suppose to have some hope to live? I could only regret the things that I never managed to do with him.

"Could you... Could you just stay with me here?" I asked, wishing to at least have some company.

I look at them, noticing how they seemed to be frowning, as if having difficulty deciding something.

"I... I can't. I've to save the others, and I can't risk someone else suffering the same fate as you."

An explosion could be heard nearby.

"I need to help them. You've... You've lost too much blood already, there's not much I can do to help you either," they told me, almost pleading with me to understand.

I bit my lips, turning back to look at the sky.

"Sure." My voice shook as I said that.

They smiled, though a grim one.

"Your sacrifice will be remembered," they whispered, before they stood up and ran towards the alleyway.

Sacrifice, huh. How optimistic, even though I already know that i'll definitely die right here. Could've at least stayed with me.

Teary-eyed, I laid there, alone and in pain. I wasn't sure how long, how long till I heard the crunching of gravel again. I thought it was my mentor, coming back because they regretted what they said. However, once the mysterious person started talking, it made me think otherwise.

"y/n? Holy shit, what the fuck happened?" They rushed over, kneeling beside me as they examined my body.

I turned my head towards them, slightly surprised.

"Katsuki? Why're you... No, How do you find me?"

He kept his eyes locked onto my stomach as he says, "I keep track of all my underlings."

"That's when I noticed that one," he points to my unconscious attacker, "Was stationary for too long. So I came over, but I didn't expect for you to be here, or for this to happen."

He reaches for my hand, squeezing it tight. He was silent, looking towards the ground. I couldn't read his expression.

That's when I noticed how my sleeve was slowly becoming damp.

He looks up at me, wanting to say something, but I cut him off.

"Hey... Please don't cry..."

"I don't know what you're thinking, but i'll be fine, okay? None of this was your fault. So please stop crying," I whispered, squeezing his hand.

Yet, as I looked at him, I couldn't help but cry too.

While we were caught up in the moment, both of us failed to notice the waking individual at the corner.

"I... But... I don't want to lose you," He sobs.

"Please, just hang in there a little longer-"

He stops mid-sentence, before his face contorts into one of pain. Confused, I looked towards him.

"Katsuki? Katsuki!" I tried getting up but to no avail. I noticed them too late.

"I knew it!" They screamed, plunging their dagger into the blonde's back repeatedly.

"You're such a fucking traitor, Dynamight. How could you protect a pro-hero? After everything they've done!"

I watched in horror as they stabbed him, showing no mercy whatsoever. Katsuki screamed in pain, and yet I could only watch.

Thankfully, he manages to turn around, gritting his teeth as he blasted their face off. His underling finally slumps over, their face now a burnt, unrecognisable mess.

Katsuki fell forward, and I tried pulling myself closer to him. To the best of my ability, at least.

In the end, we were laying next to each other, in pools of each other's blood.

We stayed silent for a while, not knowing what else we could even say to each other.

"At least..." I said, trying to break the silence, "At least we're with each other till the end, huh?"

He looks up at the sky as he took a shaky breath. Reaching for my hand again, he holds it in his.

"The moon..." He manages to say, "The moon looks beautiful tonight, doesn't it?"

I smiled, whispering back, "Yes, it sure does."

He pulls me closer into his arms, kissing me one last time.

"Let's try again in our next life."
