Victoria

I awoke to complete darkness. I couldn't see a thing, all I knew what that I was in a box of some sort. I trailed my hands against the floor and felt a metal cage.

Where am I?

I tried to think of why I was in here, but  my mind was blank. All my memories were gone. I could remember learning at school, but not any of my classmates or teacher. I couldn't remember any family members or any friends. I couldn't remember anything!

Why can't I remember anything?

All of a sudden, the box started moving up and I was thrown back into a couple crates. I rubbed my head slightly feeling a bump already forming.

I got on my knees and started pounding my fists against the wall while screaming out,

"Help me! Somebody! Get me out of here!"

My voice was hoarse and tears were running down my face. I could feel despair moving throughout my entire body. My fists painfully stung and blood trickled down on to my clothes. I wiped my hands on shorts and watched as my hands shake.

The sounds of metal grinding together invaded my head. I covered my ears while trying to remember something. Anything. I whispered silent pleas in my head as I tried pulling myself together, Someone please help. Get me out of this hell.

I crawled into a corner and sat drawing my knees up to my chest. Multiple thoughts ran through my head.

How did I get here?

Where am I going?

Why can't I remember anything.

My mind was a complete mess, trying to come up with explanations for what's happening. But I knew that there was some reason why I was here. Someone had to erase my memories. Someone had to have out me here.

After what seemed like hours, but was only about 30 minutes, the elevator finally stopped abruptly. I scurried behind the crates as the ceiling  was pulled open.

A beam of light caused me to lift my arm to block out the sun. The smell of grass, animals, and cooking filled my nose. There must be someone here if there was such a smell.

I heard multiple voices and tried to make myself smaller. I looked from behind the crates and stole a look at the boys. Most were covered in dirt and sweat, and didn't look the least bit friendly. They differed from race, age, and hair/eye color. The oldest here seemed to be 16 years old, the youngest about 13. I didn't want to be seen. I was scared that whoever they were, were going to hurt me. Maybe they were the ones who put me in here and erased my memories.

"Greenies probably hiding behind the crates shucking himself."

Shucking?
Greenie?

I've never heard these words before.

I watched as someone jumped and landed in the box. They pushed away the crates in front of me before stumbling back.

"Newt what is it?" Someone above yelled.

"What's going on?"

"We don't have all day Newt!"

The boy, who must be named Newt, responded sounding shocked and confused.

"I-It's a bloody girl!"

A chorus of yells sounded above.

"What?"
"I call dibs!"
"Is she hot?"
"Bring her up Newt!"

Newt kneeled down in front of me. She took a good look at him. He was tall with blonde hair and gorgeous brown eyes. He was very good looking, even though his clothes were stained with dirt and sweat. His smile was comforting, but his eyes showed disbelief, shock, and worry.

"Were not gonna bloody hurt you greenie," He said to her offering a hand.

She stared at his hand before grabbing it with her own small one. He pulled her up easily and straightened her out by putting his hands on her shoulders. He retracted his hands before talking.

"I'm Newt. I know you must be bloody confused but we will answer your questions after we get out of the box, alright?"

I nodded my head.

"Good that. Now put your foot through that loop and the guys will pull you up."

I followed his instructions and was pulled up by the people above.

I took a long look around. There were about 25 guys and not one girl. I seemed to be the only girl. There were four walls that were about 100 feet tall. They were a grayish color and they were covered in long strands of ivy hanging from the wall. There were gaps between the walls that seemed to lead somewhere else.

Why are there walls surrounding this area? Maybe they're keeping us in, or worse, something out.

From my place, the grass/fields seemed to stretch out until the grass and walls met up. There was a area where crops were growing and a building that looked like it was about to collapse any moment. There was a forest of to the side, which looked pretty scary with its shadiness.

Newt tapped my shoulder taking me out of my small trance.

"This is Alby, the leader," He said pointing at a dark skinned male who seemed to be around Newts age of 16. Albys face was stern and he didn't seem the least bit welcoming.

"Why am I here?" I demanded right away. I needed to know why I was here and who erased my memories. "Why can't I remember anything?"

"Can you remember your name?" Newt said not even bothering to answer my questions.

I bit my lip before thinking about whether I should tell these strangers my name, the only think I can remember.

"Victoria. My name is Victoria."

"Victoria." Newt tested my name before turning around in a circle while shooting me a heart-stopping smile.

"Well Victoria, Welcome to the Glade!"
