He looks like an angel. 

Those are my thoughts as I watch River sleep this morning. 

Today is his birthday, so I am letting him sleep in. 

I have stayed with him the past two nights and we've done a lot more than just sleep if you catch my drift. 

I watch his chest rise and fall steadily. 

My fingers itch with nerve to run my fingers through his hair but I really don't want to disturb him. 

Ugh this is torture. 

I have been awake for the past two hours, I curse my stupid bladder for that. 

When I see the clock change from nine fifty nine to ten I wonder if this is long enough and I can wake up him. 

I just want to kiss him.

Do it, a little voice whispers in my head. 

Ok. 

Just as I reach out to move his hair off his forehead the front door opens and shuts. 

Are we about to die?

"River." I say shaking him and he groans. 

Nope sir get up we are getting robbed.

I shake him harder and he opens his eyes. 

"What's wrong?" he asks concerned. 

I wonder how freaked out I look right now. 

HIs bedroom door opens and I jump falling back onto River. 

"Surprise." A female voice says from the door. 

I sit up, still on River's stomach as I take in the girl. 

The moment I see her I recognize her from the pictures in River's room. 

Georgie. 

River sits up completely and I fall down so now I am sitting on his legs. 

"Georgie?" He asks rubbing his eyes. 

She nods, her short brown hair bobbing against her shoulders. 

"In the flesh little bro." She says and her eyes shift to me, "And who are you?" She asks. 

I look over at River and he looks like he's trying to hold in a laugh. 

Is there something on my face. 

He looks over at his sister.

"This is my girlfriend Ava." He says and when we are alone I will make him repeat that a million more times. 

My girlfriend Ava

Eek.

Georgie's brows shoot up. 

"Spence wasn't lying when he said you had a girlfriend." She says almost as if she can't believe it. 

I realize I am only in a pair of underwear and one of River's shirts. 

I am super exposed right now. 

"What are you doing here?" River asks and Georgie sets her bag on the dresser. 

"Hi Georgie nice to see you too, oh nice to see you too River happy birthday." She says and my eyes widen. 

I was going to be the first one to say it the moment he woke up. 

Oops. 

"Happy birthday." I whisper to him. 

He kisses my cheek whispering a 'thank you' back. 

I decide I should let River and Georgie have some time together. 

"I'm going to head out but I'll see you guys later." I say standing and grabbing my shorts before leaving. 

River

"She's cute." Georgie says and I roll my eyes standing up from the bed. 

Heading to my dresser I pull out a shirt. 

"Is this something serious? I mean I assume so since she's sleeping in your bed."

"Yes it's serious Georgie." I say as I walk out of my bedroom. 

She follows. 

"Then why did I have to hear about it from someone who isn't you?" She asks and I shrug walking over into the kitchen. 

"Do mom and dad know?"

I shake my head. 

She sighs, "They would like to know about a major change like this River."

"Ok." I say opening the fridge. 

I love my sister but I would much rather have Ava's company. 

Especially when all I have when she visits is complaints about how I don't go and visit the family enough. 

That I should try to visit for more than just holidays. 

"Look River I get it I really do. Mom and dad weren't the best but everyone makes mistakes. They would love to hear from you and to hear that you have a girlfriend." She says taking a seat by the counter. 

I start to pull ingredients out for breakfast. 

"Well anyways what do you have planned tonight?" She asks and I shrug, "Kai and Ava are doing something."

She hums, "I heard its fancy."

"Did Spencer tell you that?" I ask putting some bread in the toaster. 

"Yes River, Spencer told me. I thought I would hear about it from you but apparently not. I don't ever hear anything from you." She says sounding irritated. 

"I didnt know you were coming." I lie. 

Georgie never misses a birthday.

"I always come and visit on your birthday." She counters. 

"I forgot." I lie again as the toast pops up. 

I take it out and set them on a plate.

Reaching into a drawer I pull out a knife and grab the peanut butter. 

"Well anyways happy birthday River. I am happy to be here with you even though you are the biggest liar on the planet. Love you." She says taking a wrapped gift out of her bag and handing it to me. 

I hand her the plate of toasts, taking the box with my free hand. 

When I open it I see a pendent.

"You can attach it to the bracelet. It's for good luck." She says and I guide the ring of the pendent through the clasp of the bracelet. 

"Thanks Georgie. Love you too." I say and she smiles before taking a bite out of her toast. 

We spend the day talking. Well her more so than i. 

She tells me about life back home along with a list of other things. 

At around five we get dressed in extremely fancy clothing and begin to head to the hotel. 

"I can't wait to get to know Ava, she seems sweet. Plus you let her inside your apartment so I know she's special." Georgie says as I make a turn to the hotel. 

We get out and they direct us to the ballroom. 

The first thing I see is a long silver dress, brown hair, and blue eyes. 

She smiles at me, "Happy birthday."

Then all the balloons fall.
