Dracula's POV:

Using a gentle touch, I rake my pale fingers through the H/C locks of my blood bag's hair, admiring the silky texture as she slept soundly at my hip. The strands are as soft as that supple, S/C flesh pumping with that delicious red. Softly my fangs press into the skin of my bottom lip, though, I'm careful not to puncture it as my hands wander lower to the marks I've left on her flesh. The blood had dried into scabs, healing nicely with no sign of infections.

'Oh, how you vex me, Y/N.' A frustrated sigh escapes me as I rest my head back against the headboard of the woman's bed. I feel shameful for losing my temper back there. I had risked her life because of that. Luckily, I came to before I went too far.

She's breathing fine but has been out for a long while. I have not left her side out of guilt. Such a stubborn girl. I understand her behavior, yes. I did take her from her home, but she doesn't realize that a life here with me will be much better than anything she could've had there.

I can give her anything she desires, give her pleasures she couldn't imagine and ensure her a long, healthy life. All I ask for in return is a taste of her blood every now and again. Every other girl I've brought to my castle seemed to understand that well. I've been as nice as I could possibly be to her, and yet, she insists on pushing me away. Quiet sounds flee from her lips, alerting my attention. She'll be awake soon; I can already hear her heart beating a little faster. What a relief. I yawn into my hand, absolutely exhausted. The sun had already risen, but I had to be sure she was okay. My head starts to nod as my eyelids grow heavy with sleep.

I cannot stay up much longer.

My body ached as I open my eyes with a pained groan, my neck feeling sore as hell. My head spun as my vision gradually focused with the help of a few blinks. It took me a moment to realize I am not alone when I looked up and saw Dracula's face. He seems to be asleep, which is a relief. I sit up slowly and hiss in pain as my eyes tear up. I hold my neck only to wince upon touching the wounds left by his teeth, noting the pain is far greater this time than the last. I see I'm in my bedroom now, rather than the music room. I would get up and leave, but I don't think I have the strength. My eyes wander back to the vampire, and I couldn't help feeling unsettled by how corpselike he is when asleep. His chest doesn't rise or fall and his skin is as pale as the moon.

'How can any of this be real?' My heart sinks in my chest as I rub the sleep out of my eyes. I still can't believe this is happening. I didn't even believe in vampires before this. Dracula is just a story; he isn't supposed to be real. I hate this. I want to go home! I lie back with an exasperated sight while draping an arm over my eyes. My head is pounding. I lift the limb a bit to shoot the bloodsucker a glare that he'll be oblivious to in his unconscious state. I want him out so that I can be alone to wallow in my misery. I shove his shoulder roughly to wake him, but it does nothing, not even a twitch beneath the eyelids.

'God, maybe he is dead?' I roll my eyes and huff as my stomach screams out for food. The rumble was painful and caused me to wrap my arms around my belly. After removing the covers, I sit up again and attempt to stand only to go back down when I'm struck with nausea. Now seated, I grip my head and groan out in pain while squeezing my eyes shut.

'Goddamn monster.' I almost shrieked when a cold hand touched my shoulder, and I whip my head around to face the culprit, which was a bad idea because it only brought more pain to my neck. I hiss and hold a hand over the marks, which caused the tired creature to give a look of concern.

"Be more careful. I took too much. You have to stay in bed." With a glare, I shove off his hand.

"I wouldn't be having any problems if I weren't here to begin with." I get up and wobble towards the exit, struggling to keep my balance, but I was pulled back into bed in the blink of an eye. I crash into him and immediately try to separate only to have the vampire's arms wrapped around me. I punch at his chest, but my fist is swiftly caught by his hand as I was pulled so close, I was only inches from his face. I struggled, but I was so weak, I couldn't escape. Throughout my attempt, Dracula was left unperturbed.

"I don't understand why you insist on pushing me away. All I'm trying to do is make you happy."

"Well, you're doing a pretty bad job of it!" I gasp as a sharp pain shoots through my head and whimper while pressing my forehead against his chest, my eyes shut tight. He looks down at me with worry and moves a hand up my back to hold the back of my head.

"Easy now. You need to take it easy. You are too weak to be arguing with me now. Just relax." I don't listen to a word he says and continue to weakly shove at him with my free arm. This makes him sigh as he releases my wrist so that he can put his other arm around my lower back. I don't want to give in. I don't want him anywhere near me. I have to go home! That's all I want is to go home. Why can't he understand that? I stop fighting and start to cry, sobs pouring out as I shake my head against him.

"Why are you doing this to me?" My hands firmly grasp his, now dampened, clothes. "I just want to go home." The creature is silent as his nimble fingers lace into my hair. I look up and find a frown on his face as he avoids my gaze. "Why can't you just find some other girl? I want nothing to do with you. Just let me go. I'm no one special; let me go," I plead, my vision flooded by my tears. He takes a deep breath before looking at me.

"I know. I know that's what you desire, but I won't. I got lucky finding you. It just so happens you're my favorite flavor. To find another with your blood type, I'd have to go through the trouble of searching for it. I do not enjoy my visits to the human realm. I'd rather stay right here." I grit my teeth in anger and tug on his clothing, deeply upset by his words. So he can want to be at home, but I have to be forced out of mine with no hope of going back? That's bullshit!

"So, that's it? That's the only reason?"

"No." I stare at him with confusion as he uses the hand that was behind my head to cup my cheek. The expression in his ruby orbs soften to an appreciative look that caught me off guard as his thumb brushed away the tears. "You saved a little bat from getting attacked. Had you not come by, I would've had to reveal myself. Humans have forgotten the existence of monsters. They do not believe in our existence anymore, and that is preferred. Chaos would befall both realms if I was found out. You rescued me from those children. I might've snapped and killed them if the beating went on. I was so angry and frightened. It isn't only your taste. I am grateful to you. I want to give you happiness like I had given my other blood bags. I truly don't mean you any harm." I grab his hand and hold it firmly before slowly pulling it off my face.

"I understand you are upset with me. I don't blame you one bit, but I want you to understand my intent. I'm not trying to make you miserable, but I will not let you go. I'm sorry, and I hope that one day you'll see my word is truth." Frustrated, I wipe my eyes.

How am I supposed to accept this even if everything he says is true? I don't care if this is his idea of paying me back for that act of kindness. Had I known saving that bat would lead to this, I would've left him to die. "I'll do what I can to make you comfortable here, but you will have to work with me. Please, stop being so stubborn." My bottom lip quivers, and I couldn't seem to muster a response. What the hell am I even supposed to say to that? He just doesn't get it. I can't quit fighting; being stubborn is in my nature. Dracula frowns even deeper and pulls me into a cold embrace. I tense up in his hold.

"How about I make you something to eat? I'm sure you're starved. Stay in here for now, at least until you find your bearings." The moment I'm released, I roll off his lap and lie back at his side. Dracula gets up and looks down at me with half-lidded eyes, still tired, as he gives me a light smile. I huff and turn away from him, which makes the man heave a disappointed sigh. He walks to the door and puts a hand on the knob before pausing to look back at me.

"Oh, and button your shirt." My eyes widen in shock as I sit up quick, watching him leave with a ghost of a smirk on his lips. I look down with heated cheeks, and sure enough, the buttons of my blouse are undone, revealing a portion of my cleavage and the bite wounds he made. My eye then twitched.

"That damn bastard."
