(Y/N) POV

I groggily got up from the bed as the sun shined through the blinds. I prepared for the day and got out of my room and went for the captain's office for today's assignment. I wondered what kind of exciting mission he had for me this time? I knocked on the door and Lord Vangeance told me to come in.

William: "Morning (Y/N), you are here for your next assignment I presume?"

(Y/N): "Yes captain, I'm always ready for my next mission." I told him with a smile.

William: "I like your enthusiasm (Y/N)."

William smiled after seeing (Y/N)'s dedication as a magic knight. In the few weeks since he joined the brigade he has shown his determination to help others no matter the situation, and that was something William truly admired him for.

William: "Today I will send you on an assignment with the blue rose knights. Charlotte has requested for your help specifically. I'm still not sure why but it seems important, report back to me once you have completed your mission."

(Y/N): "Will do Captain. Thank you."

William: *nods* "Be careful."

I left the Captain's office and went for the Blue Rose knight's headquarters. I wondered why she would ask for my help exclusively, I mean, my friends have told me that they are an all-feminine group that try to show that they do not need the help of men. It must be pretty serious if she asked me for assistance, guess I'll go find out.

BLUE ROSE KNIGHTS HQ

I arrived at the headquarters of the blue rose knights. I took some time to scope out my surroundings, I noticed that the courtyard was a bit different than the one from the Golden Dawn, It had a lowered section with a fountain in the middle facing what it looked like a raised platform.

(Y/N): (Guess that is where the captain gives the announcements. Pretty fancy.)

As I was walking along the outdoor corridors, I saw out of the corner of my eye that they were a couple of girls outside, and they were staring directly at me.

Galgaria: "What is that guy from the Golden Dawn doing here?"

Selena: "Maybe he is just visiting his girlfriend."

Wainsley: "No way! the captain would kill us if she found out that we have boyfriends."

(Y/N): (These stares are starting to become uncomfortable.) I sweatdropped as I tried my best to ignore the various stares.

I made it to the entrance of the main building and just as I was about to enter, the main door opened revealing a tall girl with a white top and the robe from the Blue Rose. She was that same girl that was with Charlotte back in the war merits ceremony.

???: "eeeeh?! What are you doing here?" She asked surprised.

(Y/N): "Err, your captain asked for my help...."

???: "Whaaat?! My sis would never need the help of a man!" She exclaimed, this time with an annoyed expression on her face.

She was gradually raising her voice in an antagonistic tone, at this point I was starting to get annoyed as well, *sigh* Can't believe that I just arrived here and trouble already seems to start brewing. I tried to talk her down before the situation escalated into something worse.

(Y/N): "Look girl, I'm just here to do my job." I said with a calm tone.

???: "Wait a minute.... I remember you!" She told me as she took a closer look at my face.

(Y/N): "Oh do you?"

???: "You were at the ceremony right? The guy with the famous attribute?"

(Y/N): "Yeah.....I am."

???: "Hmmm, even though you are just a lowly man, I do find your attribute intriguing." She said as she cupped her chin.

(Y/N): "Uh.....thanks, I guess?..... can you let me in now?"

???: "Not until you tell me why are you really here."

(Y/N): *facepalms*"Oh for the love of-.... I just told you!"

???: "And I told you, my sis would never-"

Charlotte: "Sol, he is telling the truth, I called him here."

We both suddenly heard the voice of Charlotte from inside the building, Sol turned around to face her captain, she stared at her in disbelief for a few seconds before protesting about what she just said.

Sol: "But.... but...why do you need HIS help?" She said while pointing at me.

Charlotte: "Because I have a feeling he will be needed for our next mission."

Sol: "Huh? What mission?" Sol asked confused.

Charlotte: "We have been informed that a dungeon appeared yesterday near the Forsaken Realm. We have been given the task to go secure it." She informed the two of us.

(Y/N): "I don't want to sound rude, but what does this have to do with me? Your squad should be able to handle it without my help."

Charlotte: "Early scouts have told me that the main entrance is sealed by some weird mechanism. However, they noticed that the mechanism needs some type of energy to power up."

(Y/N): "Well that's weird, and you think that the energy from my magic could help?"

Charlotte: "To be completely honest, I do."

(Y/N): "Hmm, I don't know, a dungeon that can only be opened by me is very convenient not to mention highly unlikely."

Charlotte: "Yeah you're right, it does sound far-fetched indeed but it is worth a shot."

Yeah I guess she has a point, there is no harm in trying. If she is right, then there is a high chance that there is something inside that could help me learn more about my attribute.

(Y/N): "Alright let's go." I ultimately agreed.

Charlotte: "I'll gather the rest of my knights, both of you go get ready."

(Y/N): "Sure thing."

Sol: "You got it sis."

Charlotte: "Call me captain."

Charlotte turned around and went to look for the rest of the blue rose knights that were coming with us on this mission. Meanwhile, Sol and I went outside into the courtyard and prepared our equipment for the upcoming journey.

Sol: "I still can't believe she asked you for help." She said while rolling her eyes.

(Y/N): "Well too bad for you, I'm already here so there is no turning back now." I retorted.

Sol: "Ugh, I hope you are at least useful."

(Y/N): "I'll have you know, I haven't failed a single mission since I joined the magic knights."

Sol: "And I should just believe your words?"

(Y/N) "..... touché."

Sol: *sighs* "Just don't get in my way. I don't need a man to be interfering in my work."

(Y/N): *chuckles* "I'm pretty sure I should be the one saying that..." I mumbled to myself.

Sol: "What did you just say?"

(Y/N): "Hehe, nothing." I smiled.

As soon as Sol was about to respond, Charlotte finally showed up with many girls behind her, they all were wearing the cape of the blue rose knights.

Charlotte: "Alright, we are ready."

(Y/N): "I was beginning to wonder if you would show up." I smirked.

As expected, my comment caused an angry reaction from Sol, who started to defend her captain. Charlotte decided to intervene and defuse the situation before it escalated any further. There was no point in arguing with each other right before a mission.

Charlotte: "Let's get moving." She ordered the group before another fight could start.

DUNGEON NEAR THE FORSAKEN REALM

Charlotte: "Looks like we made it." She said to the group as she began to see the giant structure in front of her.

(Y/N): "Phew, that was quite a distance." I said as I got off my broom.

Charlotte: "This is the moment of truth. (Y/N), would you do the honors?"

(Y/N): "Gladly."

Everyone stepped back while I tried to figure out how to open the main doors to the dungeon. I got close and saw that the door had a hole in the middle, and it looked like a circuit that expanded to the far sides of the door was surrounding it. Guess this was the mechanism they were talking about.

(Y/N): (Hmmm, it at first glance it does seem like my magic could work. Welp, here goes nothing.)

I emitted a small amount of power sufficient enough so that it could go through the whole circuit. And much to everyone's surprise, it worked. The energy was successfully flowing through the door and the mechanism started running, opening a path to the inside.

(Y/N): "Well I'll be damned, looks like it worked." I said surprised.

Sol: "Great, now you can be on your way." She hurriedly said.

Charlotte: "Sol, wait. Think about it, if he was the only one who could open it, it means this dungeon was meant to be explored by someone with his same attribute." She explained.

Wainsley: "That is crazy."

(Y/N): "You can say that again." I said dumbfounded.

Charlotte had a point; It is not a coincidence that this dungeon in particular was only able to be unlocked by me. If someone were to explore this dungeon, they had to have my very same magic type and as the wizard king told me, I'm the current and only holder of this attribute. I guess I have to explore it if I want to find answers.

Charlotte: "Alright everyone, let's go inside. Be careful and watch each other's back." She instructed before entering.

All of us started to explore the dungeon, a few traps here and there, but nothing that we couldn't handle. Apparently, the important part of a dungeon is the treasure room, where powerful magic items and some big treasure can be found there. After exploring for some time, we found ourselves in a very long hallway.

(Y/N): "I'm starting to get irritated because of these damn traps." I said while I triggered and disabled another trap in front of me.

Sol: "You're getting annoyed by some simple magic traps?" She asked in a mocking tone.

(Y/N): "Yeah, especially since I'm the one who has to be used as bait to get past them." I responded.

A few girls giggled after hearing (Y/N)'s response since they remembered that he has been the one in front dealing with the traps while they all stayed back and watched him.

Sol: "Hmph." She crossed her arms and looked away, however unknown to anyone, a sly smile could be seen forming on her face.

(Y/N): "Do we even know where we are?" I looked back and asked the captain.

Charlotte: "We have been exploring this dungeon for some time now, so we must be close."

(Y/N): "I sure hope so."

As I said that, I sensed a very powerful mana signature in the path ahead, I looked back at the group behind me and saw that the others had my same expression, they must have felt it as well.

(Y/N): "What is that.... I have never felt such a powerful presence before."

Charlotte: "I-I have no idea, but just by feeling it I can tell it's very strong. Everyone, tread carefully, we may be stepping into dangerous territory."

Blue rose knights: "Yes captain!"

(Y/N): *smirks* "We shouldn't keep that thing waiting, let's go!"

Charlotte: (This young man really seems to like diving straight into adventures; Recklessness like that will get him killed, but I admire his passion.)

After going towards the source of the strange powerful mana, the magic that thing was emitting was getting stronger and greater the closer we got to it. Some were getting visibly shaken while others were observing their surroundings very carefully.

(Y/N): "This is nothing I've felt before, this thing is very strong alright."

Charlotte: "I agree. Just be careful, we don't want you getting injured so early."

(Y/N): "Yes captain." (I got a bad feeling about this.)

After moving along the hallway, we finally reached the end of the path, and we got a very good look at the creature that was emitting that fierce mana. I stared at it with wide eyes as its roar echoed throughout the cavern after spotting us.

Sol: "What the hell is that?!"

(Y/N): "You have got to be shitting me...." I groaned as I recognized the creature.

Wainsley: "What is it?!"

(Y/N): "It's a damn manticore."

Sol: "a what?!" She exclaimed; I could tell from her tone she was scared but she was trying to hide it.

(Y/N): "In simple terms, it's a hybrid." I explained, while opening my grimoire and getting ready for a fight.

Charlotte: "I've heard about these things, why does it have so much mana though?"

(Y/N): "Maybe the dungeon has something to do with it. Either way, this thing is very dangerous." I said with a serious face.

Galgaria: "Look! The treasure room is behind that thing!"

Charlotte: "Looks like it is some sort of guardian, meaning...."

(Y/N): "We must defeat it if we want to get through."

Sol: "I guess we have no choice..."

(Y/N): "I get to fight it first!"

(Y/N) lunged forward towards the legendary creature, while the others deadpanned at the (H/C) boy as he recklessly lunged to fight the creature.

Sol: "H-Hey! What do you think you're doing?!" She deadpanned.

Wainsley: "Well that was quick...."

Selena:  "Maybe he's just trying to impress us." She giggled.

Galgaria: "Hmmm? If that is his motive, I guess it's kind of working." She said with a smile.

Sol: "hmph. Nonsense, he is just getting himself killed..."

Charlotte: "We have no time to talk about his actions or motives, we have to help him. Let's go." She instructed her team, not wasting any time.

Blue rose knights: "All right!"

(Y/N) meanwhile was already fighting the manticore, the creature managed to cast a great variety of spells, ranging from fire to wind. (Y/N) was finding a difficult time to hit it since the creature was flying around at great speed and attacking at the same time. (Y/N) was about to attack once again until the blue rose knights made it into the battle.

Sol: "Hey! Don't think you can get all the glory!"

(Y/N) got distracted by Sol's shouting, and as a consequence he got hit by one of the manticore's spells, sending (Y/N) flying back into a wall.

(Y/N): *groans* "Thanks for distracting me..." I glared at her.

Sol: "It's your own fault." She responded.

Charlotte: "Quit the chatter, let's defeat this thing and get into the treasure room."

(Y/N): "Of course." I said as I stood back up.

As (Y/N) got up, the manticore noticed the many magic knights and realized that it was getting cornered, it then retreated back into the front of the treasure room and let out a mighty roar that filled the entire dungeon.

(Y/N): "what the hell is it doing now?"

Charlotte: "It seems like it's.... calling for help."

Charlotte's deduction was right as we could hear similar roars in the distance, meaning more manticores were in the area and were coming to help its friend.

(Y/N): "......Crap......"

five manticores could be seen flying into the area, landing near its comrade. However, these manticores seemed to be smaller versions of the one (Y/N) was fighting before. They seemed to not have reached adulthood yet.

Charlotte: "It seems these ones aren't fully grown yet. Still, their magic is off the charts."

(Y/N): "Yeah, but it looks like they are still weaker than the adult one." I pointed out, something that Charlotte noticed too.

Charlotte: "Indeed, alright everyone, listen up!"

The group of magic knights gathered around and waited for the captain's instructions on how to handle the situation.

Charlotte: "Sol, (Y/N) and I will take on the adult manticore. The rest of you, form groups and take care of the smaller ones."

Blue rose knights: "Got it captain!"

Charlotte: "(Y/N), now is your time to show me how powerful you are." She told me with a confident smile.

(Y/N): *grins* "It would be a pleasure." I said as I briefly charged my hand with energy.

Charlotte: Sol and I will distract the beast; you make sure to attack it with your magic (Y/N)."

(Y/N): "Aye, aye Captain."

Charlotte used her vines and aimed for the manticore's legs to slow down its movement while Sol used her rampaging mother earth spell to distract the monster with the various golems, giving (Y/N) the opportunity to strike.

(Y/N): "plasma magic: Piercing beam!"

The beam of plasma was moving quickly at its intended target, however, the manticore countered the spell by surrounding its body with some type of very thick armor, making the beam bounce off and hit the ceiling.

(Y/N): (That must be some serious armor protection if my spell couldn't pierce it. I wonder...)

"Plasma creation magic: explosive supernova!"

The large ball of energy was casted directly at the manticore, creating a large explosion that could be seen from the entire cave. After the blast disappeared, the creature could be seen again, and it looked like some of its top armor was destroyed, but it had more below it.

(Y/N): "As I figured...."

Sol: What is it? Is that thing indestructible?!"

(Y/N): "No, it looks like its armor consists of various layers, making it very tough to penetrate it."

Sol: "Then how are we supposed to defeat it?"

Charlotte: "By the looks of it, (Y/N)'s recent attack managed to damage the first layer, meaning..."

(Y/N): "We just have to hit it multiple times in the same spot until its shield breaks."

Sol: "Let's do this then!"

Even after noticing its weakness, we knew that the creature was not going down easily. After blocking the various attacks, it counterattacked with several fireballs. We easily managed to dodge them, but after we turned to look back at it, the manticore used its jaws to bite through the various briars, breaking free.

Charlotte: "I-Impossible!"

Sol: "Golem, restrain the manticore!" Sol immediately ordered her earth golem.

As the earth golem was about to attack the manticore, the creature camouflaged itself to the point it was nearly invisible, making us lose track of it.

Sol: "Where the hell did it go?!"

The three of us were looking for it, as it could reappear out of anywhere. While searching around to find it, I saw that some of the other knights managed to defeat some of the smaller ones, and at the same time, others were defeated as well by the creatures. As I was distracted, the big manticore reappeared right behind me.

Sol: "(Y/N) behind you!"

(Y/N): "Clever girl..."

The creature attacked me with its sharp claws, although I tried to deflect the attack, it was able to break through and hit me, sending me across the cave until I collided with a wall. Blood began to pour out of the wound caused by the manticore. I quickly used some of my time magic to reverse the wound without the others noticing.

(Y/N): *groans* "God That hurt a lot."

As I was standing up, I could see that the creature was attacking Charlotte, but it was being pushed back by her briars and Sol's golem.

Charlotte: "Sol, restrain this creature while I attack it!"

Sol: "You got it Sis!"

"Earth creation magic: Divided mother earth!"

Multiple golems were formed from the ground and started surrounded the manticore. While the golems did their best to restrain the creature, Charlotte used this opportunity to charge her attack.

Charlotte: "Briar Magic: Crimson vine spear."
