It was a calm afternoon. (Y/N), Yuno, Klaus and Mimosa were heading back to their headquarters after a tiring morning completing several missions. Ever since the diamond kingdom's attack on Kiten, the magic knights have been tasked to increase patrols around the border to make sure the threat has been eliminated. Most of the members from across all squads were starting to get sick of the eye of the midnight sun. Their active presence on the kingdom has allowed the other countries to take advantage of our vulnerability, the captains as well as the wizard king on the other hand, have been trying their best to delay their progress in collecting the magic stones.

(Y/N) POV

Mimosa and Klaus were talking on the front while Yuno and I were guarding the back. Turns out, the black bulls defeated one of the members of the third eye while collecting the magic stone located in the water temple. You could imagine our faces when we heard the news from our other squad mates.

(Y/N): "Are we there yet?"

Klaus: "No."

Mimosa: "I think we will be there in about an hour."

(Y/N): *groans* "Fuck."

Yuno: "Language."

I glared at Yuno while he just chuckled and looked away. He was surely doing this to annoy me.

Klaus: "Why are you so eager to get there (Y/N)?"

(Y/N): "We've been out since early in the morning. Right now, I just want to jump into my bed and sleep the day off."

Yuno: "I wouldn't count on it. We will surely have another mission waiting for us after we arrive."

(Y/N): "I honestly don't think so."

Mimosa: *giggles* "Shouldn't you tell him that we've only done half of our assignments today?" She whispered to Klaus.

Klaus: "No. Let captain Vangeance break the news to him." He whispered back while trying his best not to laugh.

GOLDEN DAWN HQ

William: "Good job you four. You may proceed on to your next assignment."

(Y/N): "What?! There is more?!"

William: *smiles* "Didn't Klaus tell you?"

(Y/N): "No. he did not." I looked back angrily at Klaus who was internally laughing at me.

(Y/N): (This won't stay like this.)

William: "Anyway, we may have to postpone your assignments for a later day (Y/N)."

All four of us turned to captain Vangeance with confused looks on our faces. He noticed this and proceeded to explain.

William: "The current captain of the Crimson Lion Kings has requested for your help in an important matter regarding the eye of the midnight sun. I would gladly send another member along with you but they are all occupied on their own expedition, so you'll have to go alone."

(Y/N): "Y-Yes Captain!"

William: "Great. I'll inform her you are on your way. Good luck."

(Y/N): "Thank you Lord Vangeance."

William: "As for the three of you, I have another task for you. I'll give you the details after you come back from your current assignment."

Yuno/Klaus/Mimosa: "Yes Lord Vangeance!"

The four of us left the captain's quarters and grabbed something to eat in the dining room before getting ready to go out again.

Klaus: "I don't know how, but you always manage to get the fun missions (Y/N)."

(Y/N): *chuckles* "Yep. You should start trying to get on my level." I said mockingly.

I saw Klaus grit his teeth in annoyance while Mimosa tried her best to calm him down. I only stayed silent and laughed at him in revenge for earlier.

Yuno: "Don't get it over your head."

(Y/N): "sorry not sorry."

Klaus: *slight cough* "Anyway. We should get going."

Yuno: "Right."

We all stood up from the table and went outside ready to go our separate ways. Before parting, we said our goodbyes to each other.

Klaus: "Alright, guess we'll see you later. Good luck on your task (Y/N)."

Yuno: *smirks*"Don't go starting any trouble."

(Y/N): "Very funny."

Mimosa: "Please take care out there."

(Y/N): *smiles* "Hey, you don't need to worry about m-"

Mimosa then went ahead and hugged me tightly, catching me by surprise. I could feel my face heat up as I felt her chest press up against mine. I quickly regained my thoughts and returned the hug, a few seconds later, we finally separated. I could see that Klaus and Yuno were smiling at me.

Mimosa: "S-Sorry!" She stuttered as she started to blush intensely.

(Y/N): "D-Don't be.... I actually liked it." I smiled nervously while rubbing the back of my head.

Mimosa's cheeks were now burning up, she swiftly moved back and covered her face so (Y/N) could not see her in that state.

Mimosa: "S-See you later!"

Klaus: *ahem* "All right. We should get going."

(Y/N): "Right. Good luck."

The three of them then flew away in their brooms until they were nearly out of sight.

(Y/N): "All right. Time to see what Mereo wants with me."

I got on my broom and went straight for the crimson lion king's headquarters. I was curious to find out what this mission could be. If Mereoleona indeed needed my help, then it was something serious. I shrugged off my thoughts and focused on the journey ahead.

CRIMSON LION KINGS HQ

I arrived at the headquarters and went inside. I noticed that it was almost empty. I asked the few knights I could find about Mereoleona's whereabouts, and they said they were in the planning room.

(Y/N): (They? Who else is involved in this mission?)

I went up the stairs and searched for the conference room. After a couple of minutes moving left and right like some lost kid, I finally found the right door. I was about to knock until I heard various voices inside. I recognized some of them, they belonged to Mereoleona, Leo, and Charlotte.

(Y/N): (Charlotte is here too? whatever, let's just get this over with.)

I knocked on the door and the room was suddenly completely quiet; I was quite confused as to what was happening. Seconds later, I heard Mereoleona telling me to come in. I opened the door and saw many knights, most of them were from the crimson lion kings but they were also a few from the blue rose knights.

Leo: "Ah, (Y/N)! It's been a while!"

(Y/N): "Yeah, I guess it has been."

I looked around the room, the stares from everyone inside were beginning to become uncomfortable. Charlotte was standing there with a smirk while Mereoleona had a wide grin on her face, the guys on my right simply nodded, while the few girls on my left all had a flirty look.

(Y/N): "Uh......what is going on here?"

Leo: "This was originally a joint operation between the Crimson Lion and the blue rose knights. But my sister insisted on bringing you along."

(Y/N): "And why is that?" I asked while I turned to Mereoleona.

Mereoleona: "Because of him." She pointed at the hologram that was being displayed on the large table.

I had a quick look and widened my eyes after seeing who it was, it was Raia. His image alone made me shiver, remembering our encounter on the grand magic zone.

Mereoleona: "We take it this is not the first time you see him."

(Y/N): "Yeah. We met and fought him while retrieving one of the magic stones."

Charlotte: "But, you managed to defeat him, right?"

(Y/N): "Yes. Still, he is someone who should not be underestimated."

I began to have flashbacks of our battle. The day I almost lost my friends. If it wasn't for my time magic, everyone would be dead, including myself. We were lucky to have defeated him. I got back to reality and turned to face Mereoleona and Charlotte.

(Y/N): "Where was this taken?"

Charlotte: "Ever since Vetto was defeated, there have been numerous reports of him moving around the entire kingdom with his forces.

Mereoleona: "We sent some scouts a couple of days ago and they came back with this picture of him."

(Y/N): "I see."

I took a closer look at the picture. Several robed mages were seen in large numbers, were the eye of the midnight sun on the move? If they were, we had to act quickly before another attack happened.

Charlotte: "We decided to call you here since you fought with him firsthand. That can give us an advantage in case we encounter him."

Leo: "Yeah! Captain Charlotte told us you managed to defeat him with one of your powerful spells."

(Y/N): "R-Right."

Mereoleona: "Oh? And what is this.... spell?"

Charlotte: "(Y/N) used it once in a dungeon. It's basically a giant version of his normal spell."

Mereoleona: "Hmmm, is that so? And you defeated him with that?"

(Y/N): "Yeah.... I did."

Mereoleona was staring at me with a skeptical look. She saw right through my lie. She knew I must have used my time magic. She smirked at me but decided to stay quiet. I took another glance at the picture and found something that immediately caught my eye.

(Y/N): "Umm, who is she?"

Charlotte: "Who?"

I pointed at the hologram and in the far end you could barely see a feminine figure standing there observing everything. She had pink hair and a weird tattoo on her forehead.

Mereoleona: "How did we not see this?!" She exclaimed angrily.

(Y/N): "Wait.... isn't that...."

Mereoleona: "Fana. The final member of the third eye."

(Y/N): "So it seems Raia is not alone."

Mereoleona: "If they are indeed on the move, then we must not waste any more time."

Leo: "Uh...sister, when are we-"

Mereoleona: "We are moving. Right, now!"

(Y/N): "Fine by me."

Charlotte: "Alright. Let's go."

All of the magic knights present in the room moved outside and went ahead to the last known location of the eye of the midnight sun. This may be our chance to capture them, and it would be another step into stopping their threat once and for all. As we headed towards the target, both Charlotte and Mereoleona were telling us the plan one more time. We will split into three teams and look for the leaders of the eye of the midnight sun. They warned to not engage if we encountered them and instead call for the others to ambush them. It sounded like a good plan, but I was still worried for our safety. Raia was dangerous enough, now if Fana was there as well, this could get ugly at any moment.

Once we were close, we all landed on the ground and proceeded on foot. After getting closer to the objective, we seemed to be entering a small forest, it was at this moment that we decided to split up. I was with Leo and Mereoleona, Charlotte went with her squad and the last team consisted of Randall along with the rest of the crimson lion magic knights. We made sure to move slowly so we could not give away our position. The whole place was silent, there was no sign that they were here at all.

Mereoleona: "Keep your eyes open, they could be concealing their mana."

Leo/(Y/N): "Got it."

We moved further into the forest, the trees were now obstructing our view, I could feel something was off about this whole thing. I was starting to become uneasy about the current situation, I felt like they were watching me from all directions. Suddenly, I sensed for a brief moment an intense source of mana from coming from our left. Mereoleona and Leo felt this too and stopped moving completely.

Mereoleona: *smirks* "They're coming."

After she said these words, various trees began to move all around us. At the same time, a ton of robed mages appeared out of the bushes, and began to surround us. I looked back at the trees that were moving a moment ago and was shocked to see several magical beasts that were being controlled by the mages on their backs.

(Y/N): "Damn it. We are trapped."

Mereoleona: *grins* "This just got a ton more fun!"

(Y/N): *smirks* "Agreed."

Leo: "You two are so full of energy...."

Mereoleona: "Leo. Contact the others, tell them the eye of the midnight sun is indeed here."

Leo: "Got it sister!"

Mereoleona: "(Y/N), you ready?"

(Y/N): "Always."

Mereoleona and (Y/N) began to fight the large group of mages surrounding them, meanwhile, Leo was trying to communicate with the rest of the group and warn them about the ambush. Leo got an immediate response, and got informed that fighting has begun in the other parts of the forest.

(Y/N): "These guys.....just keep coming!"

Mereoleona: "You tired yet?" She asked as she took down one of the magical beasts with her bare fists.

(Y/N): "Barely!" I responded while I took out several mages with my plasma bombs.

Mereoleona: "Leo! How are the others?!"

Leo: "They have already engaged in the fight sister!" He exclaimed as he burned down several ice-based attacks.

Mereoleona: "Good. Let's take these guys down and help them."

ELSEWHERE

Blonde girl: "These guys sure are annoying!" The girl said while reflecting several magical attacks.

Charlotte: "Stay focused! Make sure to confuse them and then strike!" The captain ordered.

More mages were showing up, it seemed like there was no end to them.

Charlotte: (Why are there so many? Are they hiding something in this place?)

After a few more mages were taken out, Charlotte noticed that they started to back down on the offensive, to the point where they were no longer attacking.

Charlotte: (Why did they stop?)

Terrorist: "Looks like Lord Raia was right, the magic knights were going to show up."

Charlotte: "Where are your leaders?"

Terrorist 2: *laughs* "They are not here. They knew you were spying on them and prepared an ambush for you knights, but it seems the one we are here for is not in your group."

Charlotte: ("He"? Who are they talking about?)

Terrorist: "Regardless, we shall take you down right here and now."

Suddenly more and more robed mages began to appear in front of the group of magic knights. This fight was far from over.

Back to (Y/N), he was having a total blast fighting this many mages, he was warping around the place while emitting various plasma beams, once landing on the ground he would use his energy blade and repeat the cycle. Occasionally, he would use some of the new spells Jeo had taught him during his training.

(Y/N): "Plasma creation magic: "Shining Guard."

A small squad of energy-based paladins appeared on the battle, they were pretty useful, not only for their strong armor, but because they each wielded an energy blade. While the paladins were fighting the mages on one side, (Y/N), using his plasma boots was fighting the rest with a grin on his face. (Y/N) flew up in the air and delivered a powerful kick into one of the terrorist's head, knocking him down on the ground.

(Y/N): "Is this really all you guys can do?" I asked mockingly.

The terrorist, who was barely able to speak due to the pain, said something that made (Y/N) widen his eyes.

Terrorist: "We were told-*cough*-not to hurt you.."

(Y/N): "Wait what?"

The robed mage chuckled at my reaction before passing out. What did they want with me? My thoughts were cut short after another wave of mages initiated their attack. I noticed their forces were depleting, and fast. It was only a matter of time before they ran out of reinforcements. I looked over to Mereoleona who was having a little bit too much fun. I could hear her laughing while knocking down the remaining magical beasts. I was then brought back to my senses after I felt a fireball heading for my position. I took some steps back before I was back to back with Leo.

Leo: "Hey (Y/N)! Doing Good?"

(Y/N): "Never better."

Leo: "Let's take these guys down and go help my sister!"

(Y/N): "I honestly don't think she needs our help."

We focused back on the fight and launched at our enemy.

Back to the blue rose knights, their fight was coming to an end. Most terrorist mages were taken down. It seemed that the majority of their forces were concentrated in another area. After taking down the last mage, Charlotte went ahead and contacted the other groups. The knights of the crimson lion kings reported back and said that their group was done as well. Which only meant that the rest of them were with Mereoleona's group.

Charlotte: "Alright, let's go, Mereoleona might need our help."

Blue rose knights: "Right!"

While Charlotte and her knights rushed over to take out the remaining terrorists, (Y/N), Leo and Mereoleona were still fighting.

My paladins were taken out. I could always make more but that would drain my mana. A bolt of lightning forced me to take a step back, reaching Mereoleona's position.

Mereoleona: "How you holding up kid?" She asked while laughing.

(Y/N): "Barely started. You?"

Mereoleona: "I wish this could last forever."

(Y/N): *chuckles* "I expect nothing less."

As we both were blocking enemy spells and counterattacking right after, far away in the distance one mage was aiming one of his arrows made entirely of steel at Mereoleona. After some more time, he finally shot the arrow, gaining tremendous speed.

I was blocking many attacks when I felt one of them coming from far away at incredible speed, I looked back and saw that the arrow was heading towards Mereoleona, who was completely unaware of the incoming projectile. The arrow was travelling so fast I had no time to think about what to do, so I acted on instinct. I stopped blocking all of the attacks in front of me and used my time magic to erase the incoming arrow, ignoring completely all of the attacks on my front. Mereoleona noticed the sphere of time and looked back at me, her expression changing to complete shock after watching many of the large icicles hitting me on the shoulders and my abdomen. I felt a sharp pain after noticing large amounts of blood dropping into the ground. The mages in front of me were then suddenly hit with various flame spells while Mereoleona approached me.

Mereoleona: "(Y/N)! Are you okay?!" She asked while holding me with both of her hands.

(Y/N): "B-Behind you."

I launched a beam of energy at the incoming terrorist, taking him out.

Mereoleona: "Don't you dare pass out on me!"

I could see she was worried sick. I just looked at her face and realized until now how beautiful she really was.

(Y/N): *chuckles* "Don't worry about me. I just have to.....argh.... take these things out."

Mereoleona: "Are you sure that's a good idea?"

(Y/N): "Trust me. I just need some time."

Mereoleona: "All right. I'll cover you."

I watched as Mereoleona fought off the rest of the robed mages. I saw that she fighting more seriously now than before.

(Y/N): "Heh. She's giving it her all for me. I'm flattered."

I then took a look at the various icicles that were still on my body, blood pouring out each passing second.

(Y/N): "This is gonna hurt so fucking bad."

I then pulled each of the icicles out, each one giving me more pain than the one from before. I just endured it until the last one came out.

(Y/N): *groans* "I got to be more careful."

As I said this, Mereoleona came over to me to check up how I was doing.

Mereoleona: "Are you sure you are all right?!"

(Y/N): "Yeah. Just.... watch this."

I then began to use my time magic to reverse the damage. In a matter of seconds, all of my wounds were sealed closed while the blood that was going through my uniform disappeared.

(Y/N): "See? All better now." I smiled at her.

Mereoleona: "That's actually..... impressive."

(Y/N): "Thanks. Oh, and by the way, you look rather lovely when you are worried." I smirked.
