I was walking through the corridors of the golden dawn headquarters, today was our day off after the battle in the grand magic region where we obtained our first victory against the eye of the midnight sun. All of my friends were already away, either in the royal capital or simply visiting their families. Now that I think about it, I haven't written to the church in some time. Apparently, they've been receiving money from all three of us ever since our first payment, so much so that they don't even know what to do with it now.

(Y/N): (I guess I can write them a letter later today; They must be curious about what has happened in the past few days.)

I shrugged off my thoughts and kept walking until I finally reached the entrance. I decided to visit the library and try to find out more about past mages with dual attributes. Suddenly, I heard a voice call my name behind me, which made me turn around instantly.

William: "(Y/N), I take it you are on your way out?"

(Y/N): "Yes Captain...I was. Is there something you need help with?"

William: *smiles* "Thanks for your concern, but I'm fine. I just wanted to give you this."

The captain handed me a bag full of money, it seems that today was payday.

William: "Here is your payment for this month. Additionally, the wizard king has promoted you for your achievements back in Amun's Lair. You are now an intermediate magic knight third class."

(Y/N): "Th-Thank you captain, I'm honored. This was totally unexpected."

William: *chuckles* "Well I won't take any more of your time, enjoy your day off (Y/N)."

(Y/N): "Thank you Lord Vangeance."

I saluted my captain and headed off into the town. Looks like this day was off to a good start.

COMMON REALM: TOWN OF KIKKA

I arrived at the castle town of Kikka, if I remember correctly, this town was the one that suffered the most damage as a result of the attack of the eye of the midnight sun. It's good to see that its back to normal again. I was walking towards the entrance of the library, when two familiar figures caught my eye.

Sol was walking with charlotte down the street, I wondered if they were on patrol or just browsing through the stores? I decided to approach them since I have not seen them since that mission in the dungeon.

Sol: "So Sis, what shall we do after this?"

Charlotte: "We are on patrol duty Sol. There is no time to buy any new clothes. Also, call me captain."

Sol: "If you say so Sis."

Charlotte: "Is that who I think it is?"

Sol: "Huh? Who are you talking about?"

Sol followed Charlotte's gaze and noticed that (Y/N) was suddenly approaching them. Charlotte then saw that a smile was forming on Sol's face.

Sol: "(Y/N)! It's been a while."

(Y/N): "Hey ladies! Yeah, I guess it has been huh?"

Sol: "What have you been up to after all this time?"

(Y/N): "Not much actually, just doing missions here and there. Oh, and also recovering those damn magic stones."

Charlotte: "You have already found some of them?"

(Y/N): "Just one for now, but it sure was challenging."

Sol: "Why?"

Charlotte: *sighs* "Let me guess, the eye of the midnight sun?"

(Y/N): "Yeah, would you believe me Raia himself showed up?" I said with a smirk.

Both of the girls widened their eyes after I said this, making me chuckle to myself after seeing their reaction.

Charlotte: "Raia...one of the third eye?!"

(Y/N): "Yup, the very only."

Sol: "Did anyone get injured?" She asked with a worried tone.

(Y/N): "Nothing to worry about. Everything turned out fine after I used-"

I stopped talking after realizing what I was just about to say. Eventually I'll have to tell them as well, but right now it was too risky to let everyone know about it.

Sol: "Are you okay? You stopped talking for no reason."

(Y/N): "Uh...yeah, I was just remembering about the fight."

Charlotte: "You said everything was fine after you used something, what was it?" She asked with a curious face.

(Y/N): "A-After I used...that same spell I used on the dungeon against those manticores."

Sol: "You mean that giant beam you projected?!"

(Y/N): "Haha yeah.... I actually forced Raia to retreat because of it."

Both Sol and Charlotte were amazed after I said this. Charlotte remembered her fight against Raia back in that cave, and for me to be able to beat someone like him was indeed really impressive.

Charlotte: "Did you actually do that?!"

(Y/N): "Yes I did, in fact, I even got promoted because of it." I chuckled.

Charlotte: "I'm actually impressed; he is not someone you should mess with alone."

(Y/N): "I agree; it was actually a really close call."

A few seconds later I saw a member of the blue rose knights approaching Charlotte, she probably had something to tell her.

Blonde girl: "Captain, I have some news."

She then looked behind charlotte and noticed that I was there too, making her smile.

Blonde girl: "Hey (Y/N)." She said with a flirty tone.

(Y/N): "Hello again." I said with a smirk.

Charlotte: "Is there something to report?" Charlotte asked, getting the attention of the blonde girl once again.

Blonde girl: "Oh yes that's right...sorry."

While Charlotte was busy talking to her squad member, Sol and I took the time to chat a bit.

Sol: "So (Y/N), what actually happened on your mission?"

(Y/N): "It's actually a long story. How about I tell you all about it over some drinks?"

Charlotte: "That sounds fine by me, but.... I can't leave my sis alone."

(Y/N): "Yeah.... about that."

I saw Charlotte approach us after she finished talking to her squad member and I noticed that she had a serious yet confused expression on her face.

(Y/N): "Something wrong captain?"

Charlotte: "Mereoleona has requested my presence at her headquarters. She would not say why."

(Y/N): "Guess she needs your help with something?"

Charlotte: "I sure hope so. Anyways, Sol you have the rest of the day free, be sure not to waste it."

Sol: "Are you sure Sis?"

Charlotte: "Yes, this must be important. And also, call me captain."

Sol: "Alright Sis, take care."

Charlotte: "I will. (Y/N), it was nice seeing you again."

(Y/N): *smiles* "Likewise captain."

Charlotte then left to her meeting with Mereoleona. After thinking about it, I actually wondered what could someone like Mereoleona need help with? Regardless, now I have some time to talk to Sol, maybe I can even ask for her help about my magic as well.

Sol: "So.... about that drink."

(Y/N): "Sure, let's go. There must be some place around here."

We both then started looking for a local restaurant in town. After some time searching for one, we finally found it. Once inside, we both sat down and ordered some drinks while I told Sol all about what happened at the grand magic zone, I even told her about my fire ability. After the long story, she asked about one particular event I forgot about, one I was not expecting at all.

Sol: "Since when do you have a fire attribute?!"

(Y/N): "Ever since that dungeon we explored. I actually unlocked that power from there."

Sol: "You are so full of surprises, aren't you?" She smirked.

(Y/N): "Hahaha you could say that."

Sol: "So when are you going to show me your other spells?"

(Y/N): "Someday, I actually have been trying to unlock new spells as well."

Sol: "And how is that going for you?"

(Y/N): "A work in progress, but I'm confident I'll learn some powerful spells soon."

Sol: "Ahhh! it's not fair! How come you make it sound so easy?"

(Y/N): "It is not easy at all." I said chuckling to myself.

Sol: "Says the one who practically evolved his attribute to an even more powerful version than the one before."

(Y/N): "hey come on, it's not like I'm some sort of God or anything like that."

Sol: "Hmm...."

(Y/N): "Something wrong?"

Sol: "I just remembered about something that you said about that temple earlier."

(Y/N): "the temple? What about it? That is where we found the magic stone, nothing more."

Sol: "Yeah that, you mentioned something else, about some sort of statue of a man holding the magic stone."

(Y/N): "Oh yeah, that's right. what about it?"

Sol: "what do you mean? Doesn't it seem a bit weird to you that an ancient civilization worshipped a simple human and treated him like a God?"

(Y/N): "Huh, I actually forgot about it. Some of my squad members asked themselves the same question; And now that you mention it, I remember I saw that very figure elsewhere, but I simply took it as some strange coincidence."

Sol: "Maybe you saw him in some ancient tale or book?"

(Y/N): "Maybe.... who knows?"

After a while, we both finished our drinks and left the restaurant. We then decided to call it a day.

Sol: "Thanks for having some drinks with me (Y/N)."

(Y/N): *smiles* "Oh it's nothing, I'm just glad we got to catch up."

Sol: "Yeah me too. I have to admit, you are pretty cool to hang around with, for a guy."

(Y/N): "Ummm.... thanks, I guess?"

Sol: "Hehe no problem. I hope we can repeat this again some other time."

(Y/N): *smirks* "I can make that happen."

Sol: "Cool! Well, I guess I'll return home now, take care alright?"

(Y/N): "Wait! before you go."

Sol: "Hmmm?"

(Y/N): "By any chance do you know someone that can control dreams?"

Sol: "Control dreams? What for?"

(Y/N): "Err.... personal reasons."

Sol: *smirks* "Personal reasons huh? You men are all the same." She said mockingly.

(Y/N): "Wait what? No, you got it all wrong-"

Sol: "Hahaha, I'm kidding (Y/N). She said while grinning.

(Y/N): "You think you're funny huh?"

Sol: "I do."

(Y/N): "........."

Sol: "But back to your question, the only one that comes to mind is Dorothy Unsworth from the Coral Peacocks. Maybe you should speak to her?"

(Y/N): (The captain of the coral peacocks huh.) "I see. Well then, thanks a lot Sol!"

Sol: "Anytime (Y/N), see ya!"

Sol then left and returned to her headquarters, meanwhile, I was thinking of talking to Captain Dorothy.... but that would prove difficult since she's......always sleeping. It was still worth a try. I traveled all the way into the Coral peacock's headquarters. Hoping the captain could help me to communicate with my predecessor. After some time, I finally arrived at my destination.

(Y/N): (I guess I can just go inside.... right?)

I entered the building and saw one of the squad members pass by, who turned his attention to me after seeing me standing there.

???: "And who might you be?"

(Y/N): "Err...I'm here to speak to the captain. I'm from the Golden Dawn."

???: "The Golden Dawn huh? No wonder your mana is so delightful."

(Y/N): "......what?"

???: "Only those with lovely magic such as mine can join an elite squad like the Golden Dawn." The man said smiling to himself.

(Y/N): "Then.... why didn't you join the Golden Dawn?"

???: "Have you not seen these robes? Their colors are just so majestic and beautiful! Besides, my younger sister is in that squad."

(Y/N): "Wait.... younger sister?"

???: "Yes, surely you must know her, she uses plant magic."

(Y/N): (Plant magic? Wait that's......) "Mimosa is your sister?!"

???: "Indeed, my name is Kirsch Vermillion, Vice-Captain of the Coral Peacocks. And who are you?"

(Y/N): "Name's (Y/N)."

Kirsch: "(Y/N) ......such a beautiful name."

(Y/N): "Uh......thanks...I guess?"

Kirsch: "Tell me, what can I help you with?"

(Y/N): "I told you already, I'm here to see the captain. Is she here?"

Kirsch: "Yes, she is in her office. But she is probably asleep, as always."

(Y/N): "Alright...thanks for your help."

Kirsch: "It's no problem. I must go, my beauty is needed somewhere else."

(Y/N): "Right...."

Kirsch: "Say hello to my beloved sister once you see her again."

(Y/N): "sure thing."

Kirsch then proceeded to leave the building while I just stood there wondering what the hell had just happened. I just shrugged it off and headed for the captain's office. Once at the door, I knocked patiently. After waiting a few seconds, I didn't hear an answer, so I knocked once more. This time, the door opened and I saw a young woman with a pointy hat and the squad's robes, and as Kirsch told me, she appeared to be asleep.

(Y/N): "Uh......captain?"

Dorothy: "Zzzzzz...."

(Y/N): "My name is (Y/N) from the Golden Dawn. If you can hear me......I came here to ask for your help."

Dorothy: "Zzzzzz...."

(Y/N): "....do you.... have time to talk?"

Dorothy then turned around and went inside her office, she then motioned for me to come in and take a seat.

(Y/N): (What the hell is happening....)

I walked into the office closing the door behind me, I took a seat in front her desk while she sat opposite of me.

(Y/N): "So...."

Dorothy: "Zzzzzz...."

(Y/N): "Are you really asleep? How can you even hear me?"

She didn't move a muscle and kept her eyes closed. Suddenly I saw that her grimoire was floating next to her, glowing a pinkish color. It then opened and searched through her spells until finally stopping on a page.

(Y/N): (I'm I.... about to be attacked?)

Suddenly, a bright mist consisting of various colors surrounded us both. Seconds later, I was teleported into a weird place where there were several things floating around, including myself.

(Y/N): "Where I'm I?!"

I looked around and saw that there was an infinite space across all sides. I then began to fall down towards a small couch, bouncing on it a few times on it until I finally sat on it.

(Y/N): "Huh, so this is what it feels to do drugs?"

Dorothy: "Welcome!"

Suddenly I heard a woman's voice speak to me from above, I looked up to find the source of the sound only to see Captain Dorothy wide awake, sitting in an armchair lowering herself until she was in front of me.

(Y/N): "W-Where are we?"

Dorothy: "We are in glamour world. A plane of existence made from my dreams that is completely under my control." She said with a cheerful tone.

(Y/N): (A whole new world made only of magic? Now I know why she is a captain alright.)

Dorothy: "(Y/N) was it? Tell me, what do you need help with?"

(Y/N): "...I was wondering if you have the ability to see someone else's dreams, or forcefully make someone dream about something in particular."

Dorothy: "Hmmm, the answer to your question is actually tricky."

(Y/N): "How so?"

Dorothy: "I can't forcefully make you dream about something or someone I have not seen before. However, I am able to scan your thoughts and see a vague image of what you are looking for."

(Y/N): "uh.... how does that even work?"

Dorothy: "Since time is basically nonexistent in this world, I can see glimpses of the future and find the answers of what you wish for by scanning your brain."

(Y/N): (What kind of complex magic is this?)

Dorothy: *smirks* "It's actually not that complex at all after you understand it."

(Y/N): "Did you just read my mind?!"

Dorothy: *giggles* "I'm fairly certain I told you I could scan all of your thoughts a few minutes ago."

(Y/N): "......right."

Dorothy: "Anyway, like I said, I need you to think about what you want to know the answer for. And I'll do the rest."

(Y/N): "Okay, I hope this works."

I then concentrated on clearing my mind and trying to remember every single detail about the dream. From the foggy and chilly atmosphere, to the hooded man standing in front of me. I still remembered the feeling very well...the powerful and familiar mana he was projecting, as well as my very own. Dorothy was silently staring at me with her beautiful pinkish blue eyes and a serious expression on her face. A few minutes later, she finally spoke up.

Dorothy: "I-Incredible..." she said to herself.

(Y/N): "What is it? What did you see?!"

Dorothy: "Why don't you see it for yourself?"

I saw that all of the space around us was changing its scenery, all of the debris that floated around me disappeared and instead a large forest began to show. There were trees everywhere, a huge waterfall was heard in the distance as well as the singing of several birds. The atmosphere itself had a calm presence, like I was in some sort of paradise. Dorothy then appeared next to me, admiring the view as well.

(Y/N): "What is this place?"

Dorothy: "It seems whatever it is you need, is found in here." She said with a big smile.

(Y/N): "I don't understand. What I'm I looking for exactly?"

Dorothy: "That is for you to discover."

(Y/N): "Where do I even begin? I don't know where this is at all."

Dorothy: "Hmmm, this place does look odd." She said while looking all around.

(Y/N): "In what way?"

Dorothy: "It's like it's being kept hidden from the outside world."

(Y/N): "Maybe protection magic?"

Dorothy: "Yes, it is possible."

(Y/N): "Huh. Then that means I must search for anything out of the ordinary."

Dorothy: "That seems like the best decision. I suggest you start with one of the borders of the other kingdoms. Magic seems to be abundant in those places."

(Y/N): "I see. Thanks a lot captain. You have been of great help."

Dorothy: *giggles* "My pleasure (Y/N). Please close the door on the way out."

(Y/N): "Yes ma'am."

Dorothy undid her spell and I was transported back to the outside world where I fell on the ground once I was back on her office. I got up and saw the captain still sitting on her chair, but it looked like she was asleep once again. I smirked to myself and said my goodbyes, closing the door behind me as she asked me to. After going outside, I decided to go back to the library and try to learn more about this so-called protection magic.

I arrived at the library and began looking for books that could tell me all about specific regions being protected by large scale magic spells. After some time reading through many archives and journals with no result, I decided to look at one last book before I gave up. I sat down and scanned through its content. Fortunately, in one of the pages, I found something that caught my attention. It talked about everything that was related to the heart kingdom.

(Y/N): (Now that I think about it......I know nothing regarding the heart kingdom. It is a mysterious place after all. I guess it's worth a look.)

I read through the page hoping to find something that could help me in my quest, but if I'm being honest, helpful or not, I was somewhat interested in learning more about this place. The information found on the page talked about the common knowledge of the kingdom, the history of the place, the queen, and the strong connection to the natural mana. However, one particular paragraph stood above the rest.... the magical barrier surrounding the kingdom.

It seems the heart kingdom has several trap spells set up around its borders along with a thick fog covering them, preventing anyone from forcefully going through and only allowing passage to those who are permitted by the queen herself, basically making it almost impenetrable.
