ANAYA

Uh. This is so irritating. I mean I don't even know where he's taking me to. And besides, I've never worn a gown before in my life.” I mumbled to myself, staring back at my reflection in the mirror.

I clicked my tongue and removed the gown from my body.

This is the designer gown that my father gifted me for attending the party that he threw for the celebration of winning some candidacy a few years back. But I never went to that party.

I was never feminine enough to try gowns and all those cute dresses but now I feel so stupid not being able to find anything suitable in my wardrobe for the date.

I looked at my wristwatch and sighed. It's already half past seven. What the hell should I wear?

Wait for a second. Why I'm even bothering to look presentable? It ain't like I'm trying to impress Arnav Khurrana. Or am I?

I shook my head and decided to wear the light pink dress which was not mine. Lia must've left it here as emergency clothing for the times when she crashes at my place.

The dress went up to my mid-thigh and has spaghetti straps. It was nice and simple but on me, it looked ridiculous.

I mean just imagine wearing a pink dress when you've your arm covered in tattoos. I bite on my lips and left my hair open and didn't bother to remove the wristwatch.

Grabbing a pair of white heels, I took my phone and rushed downstairs trying my best to avoid my stepmother. If she'll catch me wearing this then for sure her mind will jump to conclusion that I'm trying to impress my soon-to-be husband even though it's not true.

I'm just doing all this date thing because I'm embarrassed by the act that I pulled up to humiliate him and not to mention that I burnt him. I'm just sorry about it.

As I stepped out of my house, I found a luxurious black car waiting for me. Fidgeting my finger, I walked up to the car and the second his eyes fell on me, he came out of the car and held open the passenger's door for me.

I didn't say anything, just silently sat inside. Dude, this is so uncomfortable.

I don't even have basic knowledge about what people do on their dates. I mean Lia and Manik have told me about their dates but this is so different. I'm freaking going to marry him and not to mention the fact that he's a billionaire for god's sake.

Any girl would die to be in my place. But man, I'm so fucked up. I don't even feel a tiny bit of excitement for the date. I'm just nervous, that's it.

As he turned on the engine, I realised something. I realised that I haven't stepped inside the car ever since that road accident.

My throat started running dry and I couldn't help but think about what happened that night over and over again. My body started sweating profusely and everything in me screamed to get out of the car.

I pressed my eyes shut and tried to calm myself down but all in vain. I clenched my fists as I struggled to breathe.

Calm down, Anaya.

It's okay. Count to ten. Everything will be alright.

I kept my eyes shut for I don't know how long and counted numbers till I felt that the car has stopped.

Clearing my throat, I opened my eyes and without giving him a chance to say anything, I opened the door in hurry and get out of the car.

Breathing nervously, I rubbed my eyes and looked around only to find out that he has taken me to one of the costliest restaurants in the city. The night light was sparkling brighter around me as the restaurant was in the most expensive neighbourhood.

To my periphery, I found him offering me his cotton handkerchief. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion before I realise that I was drenched in sweat. I gladly took it from him and wiped the sweat from my forehead and mumbled a low 'thankyou.'

He took a step closer and wrapped an arm around me making me gasp in surprise.

How dare he? I turned my head in his direction and was about to open my mouth to say something and push him away before he masked a smile on his face.

Eh?

“Smile.” He commanded, looking anywhere but at me.

“Are you crazy or what? Remove your arm from my waist before I break your bones and feed it to the dogs—”

“Paparazzi.” He cut me in middle and that's when I saw that media people were lined up in the front to take his pictures.

Geez. I almost forgot that he's not an ordinary man.

I forced a smile and cursed myself for not dressing appropriately. I'm sure I'll be the headline of tomorrow's news in this stupid pink dress.

It's not like I care but I've never come in limelight before. I always avoided going anywhere with my father. I never liked my pictures getting clicked.

Men in black suits came forward to surround us. Most probably they were his bodyguards and guided us through the paparazzi who were constantly clicking our pictures and asking questions to him about me.

I cringed at the extra attention that I got and clutched onto his suit to support myself from not fainting at the bright flashes of the cameras.

“Mr Khurrana, is she the girl whom you're dating for the past three years?” A loud question made him stop in his track.

I slowly shifted my eyes and found his face getting tensed.

Well...

It must've made him pissed. After all, he was cheated on by the girl, he was in a relationship with. But I didn't know that they were together for three years.
Dude, that's a long time. He may be serious about her or most probably loved her too.

I stood uncomfortably in the middle with him next to me whose fake smile was now faded.

“Yes. She's my fiancé.” He announced after a while making everyone more excited.

They started clicking more pictures of us and asking a hell lot of questions.

This shit is crazy and is he stupid or what? Why did he say that I'm the girl whom he was dating for the last three years?

Well, I didn't ask him that. I returned his favour. He didn't ask me for once why I was sweating profusely in his car then why should I?

Next, we made our way into the lavish restaurant and sat at the already reserved table for us.

I peeked through my eyelashes and found not a single woman in a gown. Man, don't tell me that gowns aren't meant to be worn at the restaurant.

Thank goodness that I didn't wear it!

“What would you like to eat?” He asked, fixing his eyes on me. And if I say he wasn't even a bit interested in me wouldn't be a lie.

I mean the guy was practically trying his best to tolerate me. It was evident from his face.

“Anything would be fine,” I replied.

Next, I sat in an itching silence with him after he ordered the food. His eyes were staring out of the glass window and not for once he spared me a single glance.

I licked my lips and decided to build up a conversation with him to ease the discomfort.

“So, tell me something about yourself.”

“What would you like to know?” He asked, his eyes still staring out of the window.

I shrugged. “Pizza or cheesecake?”

Ever so slowly, his eyes turned to me and he carefully observed my face for a second before saying. “Seafood or meat?”

I let out a soft laugh. “Meat., I'm allergic to fish.”

He leaned into his chair and nodded. “I know.”

Huh?

“You know?” I asked in surprise but he didn't say anything.

“Here's your green Thai fish curry, fish tacos, tuna and sesame rice balls, Italian herb crumbled fish, lemon dill salmon, Seared ahi tuna, smoked salmon and avocado. Please enjoy.” The waiter placed all the dishes that Arnav has ordered on the table.

I looked at the numerous dishes on the table and frowned. “Everything has fish in it?”

“Yes. Delicious, isn't it?” He said, raising his eyebrows.

“But I'm allergic. I'm sorry but I can't eat.” I whispered, trying to figure out that if he already knew that I'm allergic to fish then why the hell did he order all these?

“You'll eat.” He deadpans.

I looked at him in confusion. Is he dumb or what? Don't tell me that he has no idea about what food allergies are.

“If I eat these dishes then my skin will burst out with red, itchy rashes which for sure make my skin bleed. I'll suffer severe stomaches. I won't be able to stop coughing and vomiting till I die.” I tried to explain to him what my fish allergy means hoping that he'll understand about it.

Dude, I never knew that a billionaire could be this dumb. I mean who in the world doesn't know about allergies?

“Eat.” He commanded in a hollow tone.

I looked at him as if he has grown two heads. What's wrong with this man?

“Eat before I change my mind about marrying you and trust me that'll be too ugly for you because then you won't be able to meet your mother.” He said.
