toziertea richie has a show in boston tonight! is anyone going?

eddie had never been to boston before, but from only a few hours of being there, he knew that he wanted to come back. something about the atmosphere made eddies head spin. he loved the buildings and the scenery, the whole place just felt so enticing.

but eddies favorite part about boston, by far, was the way richies face lit up the moment they stepped foot into the city. richie loved every place that they played. he kept a journal, and wrote one thing that he liked about each city they played in, each middle-of-nowhere they stopped to get gas in, and every single small town diner that they entered.

there was something about boston that just did it for richie. they had three hours. three hours before they had to go to the venue and sit backstage before the show. richie used this time to drag eddie around to every little place that he loved.

fifteen minutes before they were meant to be at the venue, the pair arrived at blackstone park. richie pulled eddie by the wrist to a tree, at the far side of the park. the smile that was plastered on richies face made eddies entire year.

"do you like it?" richie asked, his voice full of excitement. "this is like my favorite place in the entire world."

"yeah, rich. it's gorgeous." eddie smiled up at the enthused man, making a mental note of how good richie looked in the light of the setting sun. his hair was the longest that it had been in a while, at least since eddie had known him. it was messy, but it was richie-messy, which to anyone else would just be messy. but to eddie, it was different.

"this is my spot, my tree. i've wanted to bring you here since we met." that made eddies heart combust.

"yeah?"

"yeah! i wanted to carve our initials into it. y'know like they do in the movies?" a smile made its way into eddies face. richie looked over, seeing the smile, and mistaking it for eddie finding the idea stupid. "we don't have to. if you think that it's dumb, or childish we don't-"

"richie, shut up. i don't think it's stupid, i'd love to," now richie was the one that was smiling, seemingly from ear to ear. eddie watched richie as he patted his pockets, before he pulled out what looked to be a penknife. "you just, carry that around with you?"

"not all the time. just when i want to carve a cute boys initials into a tree."

"does that happen often?" eddie knew that it didn't. he knew that he was special.

"it's never happened, but i'm about to make it a first." richie smiled and turned to the tree, carving the initials into it. eddie watched him the whole time, smiling at the thought of richie being so happy.

when richie finished carving into the tree, the two walked back to the main road slowly, wanting to keep this moment alive for as long as possible.

soon, richies phone rang. stan could be heard on the other line, rambling on about how richie better be on his way to the venue for sound check. richie nodded along, saying a few snarky comments to annoy stan. when the phone call ended, richie looked up and smiled.

"we've gotta get back, before stan the man has an aneurism."
