"guess who's gonna be home tomorrow!" bev said brightly. she was currently in a hotel room somewhere on the other side of the world.

"is it you?" eddie fell back onto his bed. the past six months had been hell. he literally never wanted to be away from bev again.

"it's me!" bev giggled, the sound of a suitcase closing could be heard faintly.

"how did the tour go? i haven't really asked." eddie didn't care about the tour. he wanted to ask how richie was. he wanted to know if he had found anyone else.

"it went good! there were so many people, dude. like, so many. europe is so pretty, i'm bringing you back here one day. richie is good, too." bev knew that eddie wanted to know.

"he's good? not still caught up on me? is he over it?" eddie hoped that he would be. if richie was over it, that meant that he could start to get over it. he wanted to forget about richie. truly. he couldn't stand to think about richie tozier, yet he did it almost every moment that he stood awake.

"he's good. still caught up on you though, i think. he's been hoping that when he comes back, that you'll take him back." eddie sighed. fucking richie tozier. why did he have to make things so difficult?

"he shouldn't want me back. after what i told him the last time we talked? i'm a horrible person for that, bev. he should want nothing to do with me." eddie could hear people talking and moving around in the background, knowing that bev was at the airport. he heard stan ask a question, and heard ben answer it. he heard mike cough, and bill ask if he needed water.

then he heard richie, who he hadn't heard before.

"sorry i'm late guys. traffic was literally terrible and the uber took forever to get there. hey, red! who are you in the phone with?" rambling.

eddies heart dropped. he hadn't heard richies voice in months. he refused to listen to the voicemails that richie left, he had unfollowed him on all social media's, and gave away the fan account he had made.

he muted the words "richie tozier" and everything that had to do with him on social media. he ignored comments about richie. he'd acted like he never met him for six months. it's what he had to do.

"nobody, god you're so nosy." bev said quickly. eddie heard richie scoff, and then he heard richies voice closer. before, it had been kind of distant. now it was right in his ear. the loud voice asking the question again.

"bev, please do not give him the phone." eddie had tried to say it quietly. he really had. bev had always kept her phone volume so loud that everyone around her could always hear the full conversation that she had been having even if the phone was off of speaker.

"richie let g-" bevs voice halted. and there was silence. eddie knew that richie had the phone, and was staring at it. he knew that richie knew.

"eddie?" eddie had never heard richie voice like that. it was soft and quiet and not richie at all. it was like someone completely different had overtaken him. eddie stayed silent. he dared not to breathe.

"richie come on give the phone back." bev said, her voice far. richie seemed to be walking away from her, as eddie could hear her talking, but could no longer make out what she was saying.

"come on eds, say something." eddie said nothing. "eddie please, anything. dude i just miss hearing your voice."

"richie, you gotta stop doing this. it's not good for you." richie was now the silent one.

"you're good for me." that sentence made eddie want to throw up. it was almost laughable, because richie was lying through his teeth. eddie wasn't good for him. they weren't good for each other.

"no i'm not, richie." eddie heard stans voice, calling richie. something about how it was time to go. how the plane was here. telling richie to give bev her phone back.

"eddie, you're the best thing for me. always have been." eddie winced. they had only met eight months ago. it wasn't like he'd been there for everything. he hadn't even been there for one birthday.

"you have a flight to catch. goodbye richie."
