Anthony (Ghost)

I shook my head, listening to Amir and them explain the story about the brawl they had a week ago at his job. This just one of the many scraps he done had over the years. Nigga always fighting somebody.

"Cuz I'm dead ass! I ain't apologizin' for smashin' a shorty that came onto me. Shittin' me." He laughed. I shook my head at him, chuckling.

My other cousin Moe was with us and they had a couple of their homies I didn't know of, so I was listening to the stories but also checking they vibes out. Shit back in the Chicago got me more on my toes than before.

"Oh yeah cuzo, imma need you to see me on the court. ASAP. " He said. "I want all the fuckin' smoke."

"Member last time you said that shit to me? It was twenty four to ten." I laughed. "Fuck outta hea."

"Dayum." Moe homie said as we was cracking up. "Gotchu ass toe up."

"Nigga shut up." He said to him chuckling. "Imma give you that, but I ain't losin' this time nigga. Bet on it." He says to me.

"Sayless." I nodded.

"Sayless." He says and we shook on it. "Aww shit. Look who here." Amir said as they chuckled, looking straight ahead.

"Yo ass fasho gotta type." Moe, grinned. "I see why. Mm...Almost forgot about ha ass."

"Fuck up." I said to him, glancing at her.

These niggas met her half way and greeted her, walking away and dippin out the house, leaving us. They think they funny.

"Bye whores." She chuckled. "So you gone act like you don't see me nikka?" I hear her say.

"Nah, wassup Bre?" I greeted her. She still look the same from the last time I seen her.

"Wasspoppin witchu, I heard some things." She chuckled and I sighed. "What shorty you got carryin' ya seed!" She started cracking up.

How the fuck she know that? "Where you hear that Bre?" I sighed.

"You still poppin' in dese streets and they tawk."

"Fuck outta heaa. Just you being nosey. Prolly stawkin'."

She laughed out loud. "Nigga. Yo ass still got mad niggas behind you out hea." She gave me a look. "And hoes that's obsessed with yo ass. You know I know."

"whatever, why bring it up?"

"Why not? Does shorty know?"

"Not yo business Bre." I frowned at her.

"You right angry bird." She giggled. "You still ain't tryna put me on tho. Why? You think bad bitches can't make money like you lil niggas do?"

"Nah, y'all fold too quickly under pressure unlike most niggas. I'll have yo ass as my back room worker."

"Nigga what?" She laughed. "Yo niggas ain't seeing these cinnamon rolls for free. Fuck outta heaa."

I started cracking up, shaking my head. I shrugged.

"That's mad wack." She shook head. "How you been though? Surprised you ain't ballin' or rappin'."

"I'm straight."

"That's wassup. Casey invited me to come kick it wit her." She said mentioning  my cousin.

"Oh yeah?" I do remember them being close when we was together. Also remember Bre having her ass watch me back then. Shit was crazy.

"Mhmm, and ya boo must be something special if you brought her out hea to meet the fam." She said referring to Nae. "Is she too good for me to meet?" She smiled, batting her eyes.

"Yea. Take ya messy ass on." I say, walking towards the back to go check on Nae. Bre followed behind, walking with me.

"Yo, ya ass didn't care about my messiness before, shut up." She smacked her teeth.

"Yo ass was deceivin." I said and she laughed.

"Boy." She waved me off. "You lucky you got a shorty or I woulda said some."

"Yeah whatever."

I found Nae with my moms and them still, playing cards. Chuckling to myself at the sight of her playing with them. Everyone was watching.

She saw me coming, and a smile came to her face. Seeing her smiling, happy to see me, did some to me with that lil dimple in her cheek.

I went to her side and she went back to focusing on her hand. "Y'all better not be cheatin her either."

"They not." She giggled.

"Hell, she tearin us up." My aunt Tiff said while chuckling.

"Who knew she know how to play some deuces." My moms said and they all agreed. "Imma have teach you how to play spades."

"Oh I know how to play spades too." Nae said confidently.

"Awww okay then miss missy, say no more." My moms say making us laugh.

I watched as she played, looking at her hand. I smirked seeing she had two deuces already. They lucky this wasn't for money, otherwise they would've been hot.

It was her turn and she pulled from the deck, grabbing the card she needed. "Out." She said placing her cards on the table.

"Awe mann." My aunts Tiff chuckled.

"Girl, you jinxin the cards or something?" My moms said making us laugh. "That's four games in a row."

"Beginners luck maybe." I say, softly pinching her cheek and she smacked her teeth.

"Hush." She chuckled.

"Hey Bre, baby when did you get here?" My moms asked as Bre went to give her a side hug.

"Hey mama, I got here like twenty minutes ago with Casey. How y'all ladies doin?"

"Fine and ya self, and you looking pretty." My aunt Mona said to her.

"Thank you, I'm fine." Bre smiled.

"You welcome. Anthony, you came to take Ranae away?"

"Nah, just checking in." I say looking at her as she looked up at me.

Nae stood up, fixing her cardigan. "Where's the bathroom?"

"I'll show you." I say, grabbing her hand. Bre stopped in front of us and I sucked my teeth.

"Hi Ranae, I'm Bre." Bre introduced herself.

Nae looked at her with a smile, chuckling. "Hey, nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you as well girl." Bre smiled, glancing at me then back at her. "You're mad gorgeous." She says, looking her up and down.

"Thank you. You are too." Nae say.

"Thank you girl. How long yall been dating?"

I frowned at Bre, mugging a bit. Shorty trippin' right now. This is what I mean by her ass being messy. And I know she just doing it to piss me off.

     "Uh..um.." Nae laughed, nervously.

"None of yo business, so watch out." I said getting irritated.

"Nigga don't be rude cause I wanna get to know her." Bre said, chuckling a bit.

"Y'all related?" Nae asked and I sighed, shaking my head.

I'm tryna avoid this entire situation and she wanna make conversation. Don't her ass gotta use the bathroom?

"Girl nah," Bre laughed. "I'm his ex."

It was an awkward ass silence after her saying that. I'm sure she saw my irritation on my face. I looked at Nae and I could tell she was shocked a bit, her brows lifted.

"And I ain't on no mad weird shit like I still want his ass or some. He just one of them people who gets irritated easily." She chuckled. "He ain't want me to meet you for some reason."

"Awe." Nae chuckled and I felt her eyes on me but I was mugging Bre ass.

I looked back at Nae and she had a weird look on her face that I couldn't understand. I just knew was curious about her as she looked back at her with furrowed brows.

"Well it was nice meeting you beautiful." She said to Nae then looked at me. "Imma go holla at some more folks and find Casey." She says briefly waving as she walked away back into the house.

It grew silent between us besides everyone around us talking and laughing. "Can you show me to the bathroom now." She says.

I grabbed her hand as I lead her upstairs to the guest bedroom bathroom so we can talk. I wanted to clear this shit up right now.

Walking into the room, she released my hand and walked into the bathroom closing the door. Waiting for her, I sat on the bed deep in thought.

My mind been all over the place for the past few days. Nae really the only one to take my mind of shit. It's one of the reasons I wanted her to be here with me. She definitely good for me. But I'm not sure if I'm good enough for her. I've been feeling this way for a minute.

Minutes later, I stood up as she walked out the bathroom. I met her halfway and she headed for the door but I grabbed her hand, stopping her.

"Hol'up ma." I say. "Sit real quick."

"Why?" She asked confused.

"We needa talk for a minute."

I hear her mumbled "okay" as she walked over to the bed and sat down. Her hands folded in her lap, looking up at me. I grabbed the chair from the computer desk and sat in front of her. I studied her face and she was obviously nervous.

"Can you say something. Silence is killing me." She says to me. "What's wrong?"

"Did that shit make you uncomfortable?" I asked and her brows furrowed.

"No, why? Was it uncomfortable for you?"

"Nah, just honestly irritatin'." I admit.

"Why? She seemed coo to me. Weird but coo." She shrugged. "Why did y'all break up."

I hesitated to say the reason. I didn't want this shit to make her want to fall back from me but I always wanted to be completely honest and up front about everything. I sighed, nibbling on my bottom lip. "I cheated."

Her eyes went wide a bit. "Why?" She asked. " Is that why you didn't want me to meet her?"

"I ain't want you to meet her cause there's no reason to. And when that happened I was under the influence at a get together and I smashed a shorty I knew."

Her brows went up as she stared back at me in disbelief. That's the look I didn't want to see from her. But honestly is the best policy.

"She was seeing and talking to another nigga on the low like I didn't know."

"After or before?" She says with that same look.

"I'm not sure." I said honestly. "But after she found that out, we got into an heated argument and decided to end it."

"Hm. Okay, all of that was before me. When did y'all break up? And I hope you don't think I would be jealous or anything about her."

"A few years back, and I don't think that."

"Hmm, ok. So why you worrying?" She ask with a small smirk. I couldn't help but chuckled a bit.

"Just checking on you. Making sure you know."

She slowly nods her head, staring at me with look I couldn't get. "Okay. And just a disclaimer," she says standing up. "I will not be tolerating none of that."

I started grinned, nodding. "You don't have to worry bout nun of that ma." I said as we walked out the room.

"Mhm." She says walking ahead of me. "I better not."

This confidence that she's getting is a turn on. I knew she had it in her, her ass just needed a lil push.
Watching her, Mamas was dumb thick. As we made our way downstairs I just stared at it. Left, right, left, right.

Making it back downstairs, we walked out to the back and she sat back in her seat that was next to my moms. They immediately got to talking leaving my ass completely out.

I like how close her and my moms was getting. Just makes it more clear that she's the one. My mom never met any of the women I dealt with because they was just quick fucks and birds. Nae the only one who I didn't mind my moms to meet.

A quick thought came to my mind to take her on a date. She in my hometown so it's only right that I treat her to something special out here. And finally make her mines. I wasn't gone tell her about it, imma just surprise her wit it.

And since I see she's comfortable with my moms and them, they can keep her company while I get shit ready. Need to come up with an excuse to tell her why I need to leave her alone.

She's a bad mama jama came on and my folks cheered loudly, standing up to dance. I looked at Nae as she looked at everyone dancing in sync with a smile on her face.

One of my older cousins came and ushered me to dance, making me grin. Nigga couldn't dance for shit but knowing them, they wouldn't let up. I stood up walking over to Nae and her smile dropped making me laugh.

"Mhm, c'mon." I grabbed her hand and she snatched away from me.

"Anthony no." She shook her head. "I can't—

"Ion wanna hea nunadat." I chuckled, grabbing her hand again, and making sure to hold it right. "C'mon."

I pulled her up on her feet and she reluctantly followed me over to dance with everyone.

"Whyy? I can't dance. I'm scared." She whined and huffed making me laugh, pulling her close to me.

"Nun to be scared of ma. Just groove wit me." I say holding her hands, two stepping.

She stood in place as I danced, still holding her hands as she was staring at me, mad as hell. I started crackin up.

"Bye." She tried to walk away but I held her close, swaying us side to side. "You're annoying."

    "And yo ass a crybaby."

    "Whatever." She pouted.

Pulling her close to me, wrapping my arms around her. I started singing the words to her, swaying on beat. My voice cracked while singing and she started laughing.

"Just as fine as she could be." I sung and twirled her around and pulled her back close to me.

She started laughing and smiling while starting to dance. She swayed her hips effortlessly to the beat and I cheered her on.

"Oooweee! She's a bad mama jama, just as fine as she can be."
