"He could read our minds the whole time?" Layla screeches.

"That's so bad for us," Maryn whispers to her.

"Oh man, he totally heard me thinking about poisoning him." Layla facepalms.

"At least you weren't thinking about having sex with him!" Maryn groans in embarrassment.

"No, I did that, too!" Layla yells in panic.

Killian rolls his eyes and I laugh. "Guys, chill out. Dorian was planning on killing us too before he read our minds. I'm sure he won't hold the poisoning thing against you, Layls," Killian reassures her.

"What about the sex thing?" She asks hopefully.

Knox sighs. "Can we please stop talking about having sex with the bloodsuckers before I stab my ears out?"

"I have a knife," Jae helpfully adds.

Kage and I share a look of equal parts amusement and annoyance.

"Are you sure we can trust them?" Knox asks Killian.

Killian glances at me. "Positive."

He'll listen to you.

Fuck you, Dorian.

"Just try to keep your thoughts PG, please," Killian requests. "Otherwise this meeting is going to be very uncomfortable."

"No promises," Maryn mutters.

"He's just so hot," Layla sighs dreamily.

"I can't stop myself from thinking about staking him," Knox warns, and Jae nods in agreement.

"Am I allowed to interrogate him about vampires?" Gabe asks inquisitively. "It seems the literature we have is outdated and I have more to learn."

Killian rubs his temples. "Maryn and Layla, control yourselves. Knox and Jae, no staking. Gabe, you can ask him three questions. Kage, anything to add?"

Kage stares at him blankly.

He sighs. "Didn't think so. Katrina?"

I shake my head.

He sighs again. "Productive meeting, guys," he mutters, rolling his eyes. "We leave in twenty."

The circulus clears out of the room, Maryn and Layla freaking out about how to stop their sexual thoughts about Dorian, Jae and Knox lamenting about not being able to kill any vampires, and Gabe telling Kage "fun facts" about vampires.

Killian continues rubbing his temples, closing his eyes.

"Are you okay?" I ask hesitantly.

"Didn't sleep well last night," he mutters.

I feel guilty. "Sorry. I didn't realize I had any nightmares."

"You didn't."

"Then why-"

"Are you ready to go soon?" Killian abruptly asks.

I blink. "Um, yeah, I just have to go grab the book."

"Do that, then," He orders shortly, and disappears.

Weirdo.

After retrieving the book, I meet the rest of them by the front door.

Killian flicks his hand and opens a portal. The others step through first, and he doesn't say a word.

"Are you sure you're okay?" I ask again.

He smiles slightly at me. "Let's go, darling."

Not an answer, but whatever. He didn't seem very cooperative today. I wasn't sure why he was in such a bad mood.

He grabs my hand and pulls me through the portal, and we land with the others inside of Dorian's house. Apparently, Killian wasn't in the mood for pleasantries like knocking.

We land in a conference room of sorts, where Dorian is sitting with two other vampires. One I vaguely remember from the ball, and one I remember all too well.

Mila.

They all jump in surprise when we appear.

"Hello, Killian," Dorian greets with a tight smile. "How convenient it is that we didn't have to get the door for you."

"You're welcome. Let's get started," Killian says curtly.

Dorian doesn't seem surprised by Killian's bad mood, probably because he knows whatever he isn't telling me.

"This is my second, Adan," Dorian gestures to the male I vaguely recognized from the ball. "And this is my third, Mila."

I roll my eyes.

The circulus introduces themselves to Mila and Adan, while Killian looks coldly at Dorian.

"Which one of you is the one who sees the future?" Mila asks curiously.

"That would be me," I say sweetly.

Her eyes narrow slightly at me, like she's analyzing me.

"Yes, it is interesting, isn't it?" I ask, my smile turning into more of a smirk.

Her eyes widen. "You knew I was going to say that?"

"I know a lot of things, Mila."

Maryn laughs, and goes to take a seat. Killian sits at the head of the table, and I'm about to sit far away from the head, because wolves sit according to rank in meetings, with the highest ranking ones closest to the Alpha, but he grabs my wrist when I turn away.

I look at him in surprise, and I recognize the look in his eyes very well from recent interactions: Don't argue.

He pulls out the chair on his right side, and nearly pushes me into it. Knox doesn't look surprised by this, and takes the one to his left.

Killian is the last one to sit down. "What do you know about the disappearance of your coven members?" He asks Dorian, his eyes darker than usual.

"Not much," Dorian admits. "They didn't leave much behind."

"But they did leave something behind?" Jae interjects.

Dorian nods, and holds up a plastic bag.

"A plastic bag?" Knox asks in annoyance. "That's what we have to go off of?"

"There's a trap inside there," I say, frowning. "A net of some kind?"

Dorian looks impressed. "Yes, exactly. It's has blackthorn woven into it and-"

"Blackthorn, or prunus spinosa, is a type of plant in the rose species. Poisonous to vampires," Gabe adds quickly, his words rushed. "Can you see your reflection in the mirror?"

The vampires blink. "What? Of course we can," Adan scoffs.

Gabe looks disappointed by his answer.

"Err, anyways," Dorian shakes his head slightly. "We found it on our territory. I assume it's how they've managed to catch the vampires they took."

Killian nods once. "We found similar traps on my territory made with silver and wolfsbane."

"Have you had any issues with hunters?" Adan asks. "We've caught a few lurking near our territory recently. They didn't respond to torture."

When I make eye contact Adan, I have a mini-vision of him brutally beating a hunter in something resembling a dungeon.

I gag, and blood dribbles out of my mouth.

Everyone's head quickly turns to look at me.

Dorian looks at me sadly. "Are you okay, Katrina?" he asks, heavy concern in his voice.

Killian glares at him, but when he looks back to me, his eyes are filled with worry. He pulls out a handkerchief and hands it to me, and I vaguely wonder if he carries them specifically to give to me.

"Do you need anything?" Killian asks softly. "I can get you some water."

I cough, spitting up blood into the handkerchief. "I'm fine," I say weakly.

Adan's head cocks to the side. "Did you See something when you looked at me?"

"Um, yeah," I say, coughing up more blood.

"What was it?" Knox asks, an edge in his voice. Jae subtly leans down slightly, reaching for a stake that I know she has hidden in her boot.

"She Saw the hunter we caught and tortured," Dorian answers for me, reading my thoughts.

"Is that true, Katrina?" Killian asks.

Dorian sighs. "We have an alliance, Killian. I wouldn't lie to you."

"Is your name Katrina?" Killian asks sharply.

"He wasn't lying," I say quickly. "That's all I Saw."

Dorian grumbles, and Killian glares at him.

"The bag," I say to Dorian. "Can I See it?"

He slides the bag across the table, but Killian intercepts it with his much longer arms.

"Are you sure you can handle a vision right now?" he asks lowly, though I'm sure everyone else in the room can hear him.

I nod, and he stares at me for a few seconds before handing me the bag. I take the rope out of the bag, and set it on the table. Slowly, I remove my gloves.

Here's to hoping I don't pass out for too long.

Taking a deep breath, I hold the rope.

Nothing happens.

About two minutes go by, and nothing happens. My eyebrows furrow.

"Is something supposed to happen?" Mila whispers.

"Shut the fuck up and let her focus," Maryn snaps.

Another minute.

And then I'm thrown into the vision.

I get in and out as quickly as I can.

What I Saw disturbed even me.

Once I'm out of the vision, I blink a few times, adjusting to the light.

The first thing I see is him.

"Killian," I breathe.

His sapphire eyes look down at me in concern. He's holding me in his arms.

"I'm here, darling," he whispers, his hands smoothing my hair.

I start sobbing from what I Saw.
