Delaney

Waking up the next morning, my head was pounding.

I groaned at the sunlight beaming in on me, and rolled over with my face stuffed in the pillow.

Just when I was about to go back to sleep, my door opened and a chirpy voice rang through my ears, annoying me immediately.

"Good morning Delaney. The boys are going to take you shopping after breakfast so come down when your done getting ready." Maya said. She walked back out, closing the door on her way.

I sluggishly got out of the bed and trudged to the bathroom, grabbing a white blouse, jeans, panties and a bra on the way.

I changed clothes and brushed my teeth and hair, leaving my honey locks to lay naturally.

I put light makeup on. I added mascara to my lashes and simple eyeshadow.

I went back to my room, grabbing my favorite leather jacket and my phone.

...

When I got downstairs, everyone was waiting for me at the table. There was an extra plate of eggs and bacon.

I gave everyone a smile and whispered a small 'good morning' as u sat beside Carter.

"So, today I thought you guys could all take Delaney shopping for school stuff and clothes. Then, maybe you could show her around town so she's familiar with everything." Scott suggested to his sons, but gave a stern look, warning them not to argue.

"I've actually lived here before. So the tour won't be necessary. I could walk to town too, I don't want to be a problem." I interjected hesitantly.

"Oh, well I'm sure the boys would still be happy to give you company. And a ride." Maya added.

"I've got a shift, but maybe Delaney would like to hang out later." Nathan directed his statement towards me, making it more of a question.

I felt awkward around him. The last time I saw him, he was watching me cry and hyperventilate.

Not the best first impression, Delaney.

I gave him a small smile and nodded at his question.

"Yeah, we'll go with you, Delaney." Luke assured, the other boys nodded their heads in agreement.

"Thanks."

Breakfast went pretty much like dinner had. The family talked while I sat back and listened. Sometimes I zoned out and thought about everything.

...

When everything was cleaned up, Maya, Scott, and Nathan left for work.

Luke, Carter, Colton, Grayson, and Dakota got into a big car. I followed them, sitting in the passenger seat beside Luke.

...

When we got to the mall, Luke helped Dakota, holding his hand afterwards.

Everything in town was exactly like I remembered. My favorite diner was only a short walk from the Thomas' house.

Perfect

We walked through the stores. I picked up some notebooks and folders, along with pencils.

When we got to the clothes sections, I walked through. I skimmed over everything, my eyes stopping when I liked something. There were lots of cute skirts and dresses.

I didn't pick anything up; however, because I don't have money and I wasn't about to make the Thomas family pay for something I didn't need.

"You ready to go?" I asked the boys who each held a few bags of their own. They all looked at me weirdly.

"You didn't pick anything out. Don't you like something?" Grayson asked curiously.

"I don't need anything. I've got clothes already."

They looked at each other for a while before Luke spoke.

"You barely have any and Mom and Dad want to buy you more. You should pick out at least a few things." He pleaded.

I sighed, knowing they won't give up on this. I went back and got a few cute dresses and skirts.

Luke paid, much to my dismay, and we made our way back to the car. Everyone carried bags while I held Dakota's hand so that he didn't get lost.

...

Pulling in to the driveway, a Jeep sat there already. I figured it was Nathan's because Maya and Scott shouldn't be back from work until later.

When I walked through the door, I saw Nathan sat in the couch. He looked like he was waiting for us to come back.

I took my few bags to my room and got everything ready for school tomorrow. After putting my new clothes into the closet, I made my way back downstairs and sat beside Nathan on the couch.

"Hey" I started.

"Hey, are you ready to go hang out? Do you have anything specific in mind?" Nathan asked after putting his phone away.

"Whatever you want to do." I smiled.

"I figured I would show you where I work, and my friends there, so that you're familiar incase you need help. Then, we could go eat somewhere." He suggested.

I agreed, and we went to his car. On the way, we sang along to music. I was a pretty good singer, but didn't like to sing in front of anyone except Xavier.

Nathan, on the other hand, was awful. His voice cracked throughout the song and I snorted a laugh. Nathan faked a glare at me, but ended up laughing along anyways.

...

Soon enough, we pulled up at the local fire station.

Nathan swiftly made his way through the building, while I trailed behind, once again.

Shouting rang throughout the building. I took a moment to look around. Everything looked to have a place. It was neat and organized. The trucks were shiny and looked to be in excellent shape.

"Hey Captain, I brought my new sister in to meet everyone. This a good time?"

Awe, he said sister.

Delaney, focus!

I was brought out of my own head when I heard a deep voice reply.

"No problem, kid, bring her in." The voice was strong and powerful. But it sounded familiar.

I followed Nathan more. He led the way towards the 'Captain' and I assumed, everyone else.

When we made it to the room, I looked in. It was filled with guys and women, sitting around, talking.

I made eye contact with someone. The familiar voice. My eyes widened and I whispered,

"Mikey"
