I waited for him to speak. To tell me this life-altering piece of information that he seemed to think would hurt me.

He stared at me, then spoke.

"I enlisted in the Army."

He spoke so quickly and quietly that I wasn't sure I heard him correctly. Taking another look in his vibrant grey eyes, I knew I had.

I blew out a deep breath I didn't know u was holding. Xavier looked at me shocked. Like I was suppose to throw a tantrum or something.

"I thought you cheated or some shit!" I yelled, smacking him mildly on the shoulder.

He put his hands up in surrender.

"I didn't—no need to get violent!" He yelled back.

I gave him a fond smile. I was proud of him.

Sure I was ready to piss myself at the thought of him leaving me and being in danger, let alone with the baby. But, ultimately, I'm happy to have fallen in love with someone so great. He's my life, forever.

"I love you for who you are, Xavy. You'll always be my other half. I respect your choices. I'm not going anywhere. If you still want me, I'll be waiting every time you come come, with our lil baby in my arms." Tears streaked down my face in the middle of my speech.

His lips met mine immediately after I finished speaking. I kissed back just as passionately, conveying all of my love into it.

I felt his tongue prob at mine, searching my mouth diligently.

We pulled back, gasping for breath. He searched my face for any lies, cupping my cheeks gently in his big hands.

When he didn't find anything other than truth, he let his own tears flow.

"I love you so much. I promise to do my best to give you and our baby a good life. I want to watch you walk down the isle to me. I don't want to leave here with you being just my girlfriend. Will you marry me, Delaney Taylor?" He pulled out a small box and opened it.

The ring was simple and classy. It was small and beautiful. Perfect.

"How soon are you expecting marriage? Because I'm with you all the way, but I'm still underage, baby," I chuckled.

"We don't have yo get married until you're completely ready. I just want you as my fiancé."

"Okay!" I squealed excited.

He slid the ring onto my finger. It fit nicely. I admired the beautiful symbol.

"Oh my gosh, Xavier! This is the ring your Dad gave you, isn't it?!" I asked nervously.

"I mean, he told me before he died that he wanted me to give a piece of him to the girl I was in love with. You'll always be my girl." He said simply.

"Stupid hormones", I angrily wiped my tears.

He took my hands gently, chucking. He held them in his own.

"I love you so much, sweetheart" he whispered.

I smiled widely at the ring on my finger, not responding.

"It's so shiny, Xav. Look!" I shoved the ring he just gave me into his face.

He bellowed out a loud, melodic laugh, kissing the back of my hand.

"I think it's time to get you home, Delaney. You get loopy after midnight." He tried to look serious, but broke into a smile after looking at my pouty face.
