Morgan's POV

Should I go up?

Well I shouldn't but I have no choice—she's still my boss and because of the project I'm working on I kind of have to run some things by her first.

What I shouldn't have done is fuck my boss to begin with... no matter how hot she was.

"You look like you are about to piss your pants." Michael said from besides me—we both stood in front of the elevator doors.

"Well can you blame me?" I responded.

"I actually can, no one told you to fuck your boss— especially your boss with feelings for you." He emphasized the last part.

I groaned.

"Fuck off Mike."

"Hey, hey, don't go off on me now for just saying how things are." Michael put his hands in the air with an annoying smile on his face.

I rolled my eyes.

"Whatever, I have to go give Elizabeth the blueprints of the new planes." I said and called the elevator.

"Ouch, don't worry Morg, if you don't make it out alive I'll tell your mom that you love her." He joked.

I entered the lift and flipped my friend off. "Again, fuck off Michael."

"Wow you expect me to cry on your funeral with that attitude?"

"I hate you." I heard Michael laugh as the doors of the elevator closed.

I tapped my feet against the floor anxiously as I saw the numbers of the floors going up and up until it finally reached the last floor—Elizabeth's floor.

We haven't spoken much or like at all since I came back to work. It reminded me of how things back when I started to work here, we were both acting like strangers— or she was at least, Elizabeth ignored but the awkwardness was still in the air — that she could not ignore.

When I got out I was hoping to find Alice on her desk to see if she could give Elizabeth the blueprints in my instead but dread overcame me when her desk was empty.

She must be on her lunch break.

Fuck.

I took a breath and knocked on the big wooden door that I was used to just walk in after knocking once.

Not anymore.

I waited for her to say something and when I finally heard a 'come in' I opened the door and slowly peaked inside until I was fully in.

Elizabeth was sat on the chair of her desk—reading over some papers, she hasn't even bothered to even look up at me.

"What is it Ms. Valentine?" She asked with her gaze still on the papers.

"I— I brought you the new planes blueprints... Ms. Sinclair?" I waved the papers that were on my hand.

The formality felt weird on my tongue.

"Leave them there and get out." Elizabeth pointed to the chair in front of her desk—still not sparing me a look.

I sighed and put them where I was told to. I paused and looked at the woman who was currently giving me the cold shoulder.

"Elizabeth—"

"I'm busy right now Ms. Valentine, if you have something to talk to me about regarding the project then go and schedule a meeting with Alice on your way out." She said all of that still not looking at me.

"Elizabeth for god's sake look at me!" I said irritated at her behavior.

At that she stopped what she was doing and put her pen down—she slowly looked up at me, her face stone cold. "Careful with the way you speak to me, Ms. Valentine."

"I'm sorry, okay?" I blurted out making her raise a brow. "I'm so sorry for how things between us ended. I should've of known better, I was a jerk on that text and when you went to my parent's house. I didn't handle things properly — I shouldn't have gotten involved with you knowing you had feelings for me and knowing that I couldn't return them."

Yes she also knew what she was getting on when we started to hook up, I know that. But I don't care about that, I'm apologizing for my wrongs—because I didn't believe her in the moment when she said she was fine with being just friends, I knew she wasn't. But because I told myself that it wouldn't be me getting hurt in the end, so I didn't care at that moment.

And that was really shitty of me.

I let a deep breath out.

"I'm really sorry Elizabeth."

Elizabeth looked at me in silence for a moment—her face expressionless and impossible to read. "If that's all you can leave, Ms. Valentine."

I sighed in disappointment and nodded. "Yeah that was all," I responded and went to the door—her attention already back to her work.

"By your face I assume that whatever happened in there didn't go well." Alice said once I closed the office door.

"She hates me."

"No, she doesn't—all the opposite I believe. She's just hurt and her way to cope with that is by being a bitch. I knew that friends with benefit thing that you two got going on wasn't going to end well." Alice shook her head with arms crossed.

"Yeah I know that now." I mumbled.

"You should've known that back then—Elizabeth wasn't going to end it because she thought it was a chance to get to be something more, you knew that and you should've ended it. Now she's hurting because of it and I can't do anything about it." Alice bit the inside of her cheek as she glared hard at me.

I frowned.

I don't get why she's so mad at me, yes I get they're some kind of friends but she's seems too—

"Oh my god!" I gasped and pointed at her. "You like her!" I whisper-yelled as the person I was referring was just at the other side of the door.

Alice's eyes went wide. "No, I don't!"

"Yes, you do!"

"I don't, Morgan shut up!" She kept denying but her flushed face confirmed it to me.

"You do! That's why you're so upset." I chuckled.

This is perfect!

"You can date Elizabeth and she will get off my back." I said but regretted it as soon as I did when I saw Alice's murderous glare.

"What the hell is your problem? I'm not a rebound and I'm not the key to fixing your fuck ups Morgan."

"Shit I didn't—"

"No, that's exactly what you meant. I may like her but that doesn't mean I will put myself in a position where I know I will get hurt just to make things easier for you. I'm not a toy."

"Alice, I'm sorry—"

"Morgan just get out of here, I have work to do."

I sighed and walked to the elevator.

I just can't stop fucking things up, can I?

I finally got home after a what seemed to be like a never ending day at work.

Following my... altercation with Alice I just wanted to be anywhere else but at the office—which made time pass agonizingly slow.

I laid on my couch and got my phone out to order myself some food.

At some point I'm going to have to learn how to cook something beyond a sandwich.

When I was done ordering I decided to text Hayley—we haven't talked since lunch time and I wanted to know how her day went, hopefully it was better than mine.

I chuckled once I saw the emojis I put besides her name the other day—she hated them, well, she hated the last two.
