Morgan's POV

One year later.

"Jason, hold on, hold on. I'm gonna need to you to slow down and rewind a bit. You and Norah are back together?" I asked as I put one of the boxes down on the floor.

"Yeah Jase I really need you to go back on that again." I heard Kaden ask as well over the video call.

I grabbed my phone from the table, just so I could see the look of confusion on my best friend's face. "Go ahead and explain, Endo," I pushed.

"Okay, so you two know that I travelled to New York last month for a job interview, right?" We both replied with a 'yes' so he could continue his story. "Well, while I was there I saw an instagram story of Norah about her having a play and since I was in town I thought that I should go and check it out—so I did. I got a bouquet and watched the play—when it was over I went to find her and we talked." Jason paused leaving us in silence for a few long seconds.

"That's it?" Kaden asked.

"Oh no, we talked and I asked her out." He continued.

"What if she had a boyfriend?" I questioned this time.

"I would have looked very stupid and it would have been very embarrassing... but she didn't have one—so I'm glad I took the risk. Even though, I honestly didn't think I would have a chance with her again —it feels surreal." Jason looked starstruck at the mere thought of Nora and it was adorable. Even after so many years he was still smitten for her.

"Oh you are in love! It's so cute... and disgusting." Kaden made a face and I couldn't help but laugh at it.

"You are just jealous cause you are the only one of us that's still single. I mean— look at Morgan, she just moved in with her girlfriend yesterday." Jason said.

My heart swelled with both pride and happiness at the reminder of my latest achievement. After one year —with some bumps on the road— Hayley and I managed to make it work. Moving from Chicago to Bend ended up being the best decision I had made in a long time—not only because it meant I was closer to Hayley, but because I was also closer to my family— which I didn't realize needed to until then.

However leaving Chicago did make me sad as well, I was leaving Michael and even though we still talk almost everyday—it saddened me to leave him after being together for so long. He was my ride and die when Jason, Kaden and I were strained from each other.

Then there was Elizabeth—who despite our altercates and failed... friend with benefits relationship? I still held and hold a soft spot for. More than my boss and other things— she was my friend as well and a lovely person.

We just weren't meant to be.

However I am happy that we parted in good terms and even check up on each other every once in a while. I'm not sure what happened between her and Alice though, never got around to ask because I wasn't exactly sure how to ask—they both deserve happiness though, even if it's not together.

"It's that supposed to make me feel jealous or?" Kaden rolled her eyes.

"No, it's supposed to push you to find a boyfriend or girlfriend." Jason explained.

"No thank you, like don't get me wrong Morgan—but I don't want none of that. At least not for the time being."

"Is that so? Or are you still jealous that Monique got a boyfriend now?" I asked—I admit that I do feel kind of bad for making fun of Kaden's failed crush... but it's what best friends do! Right?

My question caused Jason to burst out in laughter... Kaden on the other hand I think got pissed off. "I'm not jealous and you two can go fuck yourselves, I'm done." She hung up on us.

"Man I think you pissed her off." Jason pointed out the obvious as he kept on laughing.

"Yeah I'm gonna have to call her later." I heard the door of the apartment open and close and that was my sign to end the video call with my best friend. "Hayley is back, talk to you later Jase."

"Sure thing Mor, tell her I say hey."

"Bye." I ended the call as I saw the blonde walk in to our room—it feels amazing to call it ours.

"Hi babe," she approached me and greeted me with a kiss—putting her arms around my shoulders.

"Hi... you." I stared at her lovingly—I'm sure that to anybody else I must look like an idiot, but I really couldn't care less.

To think that a year ago we have simultaneously gotten together and not long after we had also broken up. This would've seen impossible.

When it was time for me to come back to Chicago on more time, I asked Hayley to go with me.

"What were you doing?"

"Just finished unpacking some of the boxes left while talking to Kaden and Jason. He says hi by the way."

Hayley smiled at that, "He's my favorite from your friends."

"Yet you constantly misname him."

"He looks like a James." She shrugged making me chuckle.

"How did the interview go." I put my hands under her shirt and rubbed her sides.

"It went fine... I hope— I believe I did, not sure if they do." A frown took over her face and I just knew she was starting to overthink every single thing that she may have said or done during the interview —which will lead to beating herself over it for the rest of the day.

"Hey stop—I'm sure you did wonderfully and that school would be so, so lucky to have you." I gave her hands a light squeeze of reassurance.

Hayley sighed but nodded her head regardless. "Yes, you are right."

I leaned in and kissed her forehead, "That's my girl."

"I love you." Hayley placed a quick peck on my lips before speaking up again. "Are we still up for tonight?"

"Are you kidding? Of course we are."

"And are you still don't telling me what it is that you have planned?" Hayley quirked an eyebrow questioningly.

"Why would I ruin the surprise? There's no fun in doing that." I ran my hands up and down her sides.

"Please." She pouted adorably, but I promised myself I wouldn't brake.

"Huh, huh." I shook my head.

Hayley rose an eyebrow and leaned into my ear, "Not even if I say pretty please?" She whispered before lightly biting my earlobe.

Don't break, don't break, Morgan don't fucking break!

I gulped as I kept chanting the words on my mind... but it was proving to be extremely difficult not to as I felt Hayley lick the side of my neck before starting to kiss and suck on it. "Please..." she went back to mumble on my ear.

"N—no— no! I won't tell you. I won't break at the hands of your... succubus like powers." I put some distance between us—my hands over her shoulders stopping her from pulling any more... pleasing tortures.

"My 'succubus like powers'? What even is that Morgan? Is that something from the comic book movies you like or?" Hayley asked—while I was a bit shocked that she didn't know what it was.

"What? No. A succubus is a demon that seduces people... sexually. There is no succubus in my comic books movies as far as I'm concerned—just very hot women, like Margot Robbie for example." I explained but it only made her raise a brow... worrying me little.

"Are you calling me a demon?" She crossed her arms.

"No! You are misunderstanding, is just a harmless joke. Was that all you got from what I said?"

"No, I also got the part about hot women." Hayley sent me a glare.

"Platonically. Anyway! I'm sorry babe, I can't tell you our plans for tonight—it would ruin the surprise."

"Fine, don't tell me." She spoke clearly annoyed by me not breaking and telling.

"Hayls don't be like that." I caught her hand before she left the room and pouted at her.

She gave me a fake smile and took her hand back. "I'm gonna shower."

"Can I join?"

"You could have... and you ruined your chance. So no." With that she walked to the bathroom and closed the door behind her.

She really hates surprises.

"Was the eye band really necessary?" Hayley spoke as I guided her out of the elevator.

"Yes it was." I confirmed.

"Okay... then why did the elevator went up instead of down?"

"It went down." I lied—uselessly.

"Sure it did." Even if her eyes were covered I already knew she was rolling them underneath the band.

"Stop guessing!" I laughed as I helped her with a step on the way.

"Fine I'll stop guessing... are we there yet though?" Hayley asked.

I looked at our surroundings to make sure everything was perfect before giving her an answer. "Yes, we are here."

"So can I take this off?" She pointed to the  band over her eyes.

"Oh yeah, right, let me." I moved closer to her so I could take it off.

The sound of a low gasp made my heart accelerate with nervousness—I felt my anxiety skyrocket. So I cleared my throat and willed myself to talk, "So, huh— do you like it?" I scratched my neck awkwardly.

"Are you kidding? Morgan this is beautiful babe." Hayley admitted as she looked at the picnic blanket on the floor that had some (fake) candles adorning the top of it, along with food and a bottle of wine. There were some yellow Christmas lights here and there and to the side there was a projector that pointed to a white screen I had set out for us to watch a movie on.

The best part of owning the penthouse of a building is that most times the roof terrace of the building is basically only yours.

"You do?" I asked still unsure and looking around for any defects on the set up.

That's it until I felt Hayley's hand on my face as she turned me to look at her. "Of course I do, this is the most romantic thing someone has ever done for me. I could never not love it. It's beautiful."

Despite us dating for a little more than a year I could still feel my cheeks burning. "That makes me very happy... now come on love, before our food gets cold—I got us your favorite."

"Oh my god, Thai food?" Hayley asked excitedly as we sat over the blanket.

"You know it." I watched as she grabbed the food.

"Morgan I love you so fucking much."

"Wow I will start buying you food more often if this is the reaction I get." I chuckled as she hummed before we started to eat.

After dinner and one movie later I decided that this was the perfect time to do my last surprise of the night. I looked to my side where Hayley was cuddle up watching the credits of the movie roll.

I accommodated myself to sit up—which made Hayley frown at me in confusion, "What's wrong?"

"I have one last surprise for the night." I announced.

Hayley looked at me warily, "Sure... what is it."

I took out the box out of my pocket and I swear I saw Hayley's face go as pale as ghost. It was kind of hard not to laugh right there and then.

"Hayley—"

"Oh god Valentine please don't tell me you are about to propose."

"Oh... I guess that's a no then." I responded.

"No— wait what? Are you serious?" Hayley said with mortification on her face.

So I bursted out in laughter.

"Stop it! Why the hell are you laughing like a maniac? This is not funny." Hayley complained as I tried to get my self together enough to speak.

"Oh my god... you should have seen your face!"

She glared at me, "What so this is not you proposing?"

I finally stopped laughing and managed to put on a serious enough face. "No Hayley, I'm not proposing."

"Then what is that ring box for?" She pointed to the thing in my hand.

"These," I opened the box that did in fact contained two rings. "Are promises rings. I know we are not ready yet for marriage... so this is my promise to you that I will always love you. And my promise that someday I will marry you—no matter what. You bring out the best of me Hayls."

Hayley's eyes watered as I put the promise ring on her finger before she pulled me into a passion full kiss.

Pulling away she then grabbed the other matching ring with one hand while with her other she grabbed mine. "I promise you that I will always love you, just you Morgan Valentine. And I promise to give you the absolute best of me."

A/N - And cut! Lol it's been a wild ride hasn't it? Sorry for the delay on this final chapter, endings tend to take me a while since well, it's gotta be perfect.

This is the end of Morgan's history but don't worry I'm making a book about Kaden next! So either don't remove this book from the library since I will announce over here when I post Kaden's book or you can follow me. Either option works.

Let me know your thoughts and thanks for reading!
