Tyler

I walked into school exhausted. Amari was acting weird all morning and wouldn't tell me why. She talked to Hunter more than me and that's definitely not normal. Usually it's her and me planning how to make Hunter's life the worst.

"Ty!" Naomi called as she grabbed onto my arm. "Hey baby."

She reached up and pulled my face to hers before kissing my lips. I lazily kissed back.

"So, your parents come back Today." She started. "Don't you want to invite me over for dinner so I can meet them?"

"My parents are very busy people. I doubt they have time to meet my latest conquest." I laughed.

"Latest conquest?" She asked. "Is that what we're calling each other? When are we just going to make it official, Tyler?"

"I don't know, Naomi." I sighed. "I think what we're doing is fun for now."

"Fun?" She asked angrily. "Fine. Well, allow me to go have all the fun I want."

And with that, she stormed off.

"Trouble in paradise?" Chase asked walking over to me with Collin.

"She's upset because I don't think we need to be official yet." I shrugged.

"Yet?" Collin asked as we headed towards the field. "As in, one day, but not now?"

"Yeah." I nodded. "I mean, I think."

"Wow." Chase mumbled. "Here I was thinking you'd be single forever!"

"Look at me." I said. "Do you really think I could be single forever?"

"He's right." Collin nodded. "I definitely thought it would be Amari."

Chase and Collin shared a laugh and I rolled my eyes. When we made it onto the field, my eyes immediately landed on a giggling Amari. Jason wore the biggest smile as he talked to Amari. What would it take to get rid of this guy? I began to walk over to them when Chase stopped me.

"Let it be." He said simply and we walked to the opposite end of the field.

"Why is she out here with him?" I asked annoyed.

"Probably because gym is also her first class period." Collin said smartly and I glared at him. "Sorry."

"Tyler, chill out. Weren't you just talking about how you wanted to make things official with Naomi?" Chase asked.

"No..." I mumbled not wanting to talk about this anymore.

Amari

Why didn't he come over here? Why didn't he curse at Jason? Did he not care anymore? It took everything within me to not go over to Tyler and curse at him for not cursing at me. Jason was talking, but I wasn't listening. I just wanted to see how Tyler would react.

"Brooks and Rose!" Coach Bowman called. "We're playing soccer and you two are our captains. A little friendly competition between friends, huh?" He laughed.

Tyler and I walked over to where coach stood. He handed Tyler a stack of blue jerseys and me a stack of red jerseys.

"Who's picking first?" I asked Coach.

"Rock Paper Scissors." He said.

Tyler and I played Rock Paper Scissors. I threw out Rock, he threw out Paper. He got to choose first.

"Chase."

We picked our teams and put on our jerseys before finally starting the game. Collin, who was on my team, kicked the ball to me and I dribbled it with my feet as Tyler chased after me. He kicked the ball over to some girl that was on his team.

"You suck at this." Tyler laughed.

"Suck my balls." I breathed before running after whoever had the ball.

After the Game

Tyler's team had won and it wasn't a surprise. We had 15 minutes of free time before we had to go get changed.

"Amari, I'll race you up the field!" Jason said tying his shoe.

"Alright, but you'll lose." I shrugged getting ready.

"We'll see." He laughed.

More people decided to join in on our race and we took off. We were running full speed to the opposite end of the field when someone called my name.

"Amari look out!" Some girl yelled.

I didn't know what she was talking about, but when I fell, my ankle hurt like hell. Everyone rushed over to see if I was okay and coach pushed them all out of the way.

"Rose, are you alright?" He asked gently touching my ankle.

"No." I said as a tear slipped down my cheek. "It hurts."

"Can you move it?" He asked and I shrugged. "Someone take her to the nurse."

"I'll do it." Tyler and Jason said at the same time.

"I'm her best friend so I'll do it." Tyler said bumping Jason as he came and picked me up bridal style.

He carried me to the nurses office carefully.

"Damn Amari. I knew you were bad at sports, but running?" He laughed.

"Shut up." I whimpered burying my face in his neck.

"It's probably only sprained. Nothing serious." He whispered.

"How do you know?" I asked.

"You're not screaming and cursing. It's definitely not broken." He laughed. "Don't worry. I'll get your bags and sit in the nurses office with you."

"Thanks." I whispered.

"No problem." He nodded.

Tyler did just as he promised. He took me to the nurse then went and got our gym bags. He even stopped at the vending machine and got some candy. The nurse ended up calling an ambulance and telling my mom to meet us at the hospital because she couldn't deal with my ankle. The hospital put me on crutches and a boot until further notice. The doctor also said that I shouldn't try to walk on it and I may need to be out of school for a few days. Tyler stayed with me at home while my mom headed back to work.

"I've been playing soccer for a while and I've never had to be on crutches." Tyler whispered as I laid on his chest.

"Good for you." I mumbled. "Some of us weren't made to run. We were made to walk and look good doing so."

"Well, you can hardly do that." He laughed and I slapped his chest laughing a little too. "No, but seriously. I'll stay here if you need me to. I know your Mom said she'll stay home until you're better, but she's a doctor. That's not really an option for her or your dad."

"I can handle myself, but thanks." I sighed.

"I don't care if you can handle yourself. I'll take care of you." He said. "Unless you want to call Jason."

"Jason? What does he have to do with this?" I asked.

"I mean, you're becoming close with him. Why wouldn't he be involved?" Tyler asked.

"Are you jealous?" I smirked.

"Hardly. I just don't like him." Tyler shrugged.

"But he likes you. He says that you're nice." I laughed.

"I'm sure he did." Tyler laughed. "Your medicine made your face puffy. Or maybe it was all of that crying."

He poked my cheek and I laughed.

"Is it soft?" I asked rubbing my face against his and against his neck.

"It's very soft." He laughed tickling me.

We were a laughing mess. Maybe it was his exhaustion or my medicine, but we were in total bliss.

"Oh my God." I gasped touching my lips.

"What?" Tyler asked.

"My lipgloss." I said reaching over him to my nightstand for my lipgloss.

"Why do you need it? It's just us." He laughed grabbing my wrist.

"If my face is puffy, my lips look full and I need to take a picture." I laughed.

"Nah. I'll remember this." He shook his head.

"Will you, really?" I asked.

"Of course." He nodded. "Especially if I do this..." He trailed off.

"Do wh..." I was cut off by him kissing my lips.

His grip on my wrist dropped and I grabbed hold of his face. Why was he so perfect? He flipped us over so that he was on top now and I pulled him closer.

"Such a shame you have this boot on, huh?" He asked with a smirk as he gently rubbed my vagina.

"Yeah. What a shame." I breathed out. "Take it off."

"You just got it put on, Amari." Tyler laughed.

"I don't care. It's my ankle." I said reaching for the boot, but he stopped me.

"Another time." He whispered kissing my lips again.

I kissed him back hungrily.

"I want it now, Tyler." I said.

"You can't have it now, Amari." He smiled at me. "Plus your medicine should be kicking in any minute now."

"I don't care." I poured.

"You can get it whenever you want once your ankle is better, okay?" He asked with a big smile.

I stared at him. He knew I wanted it now.

"Whenever? Doesn't matter the place?" I asked.

"Doesn't matter the place." He nodded.

"Fine." I sighed and he rolled off of me.

That Night

"Tyler, I think my ankle is better." I whispered as I woke him up.

"No it isn't." He mumbled pulling me closer to him. "Come on. Go back to sleep."

I sighed and cuddled close to him before drifting off to sleep again.

The next Morning

I woke up and was the only one in bed. I smelled breakfast downstairs and I wondered who had gotten up so early to cook. Tiredly, I grabbed my crutches and walked into the bathroom. I struggled with brushing my teeth and just used a wet towel to wash my face. I sat on the edge of the tub and washed up before struggling to get dressed.

Next, I was faced with the challenge of going downstairs. I tried with the crutches, but when that didn't work, I threw them down the stairs and sat down preparing to slide down the stairs myself.

"Tyler go get my baby!" My Mom yelled and Tyler walked out of the kitchen to see me.

He began laughing before finally coming upstairs and picking me up bridal style. He carried me into the kitchen and sat me at the island. Dad was in the kitchen with Hunter. Tyler's parents were also here. Tyler and Mom came back with my crutches and Tyler was still laughing.

"Shut up and pass me some bacon." I laughed.

Tyler slid the plate over to me and sat beside me as we began eating the bacon.

"Oh darling." Tyler's mom said gently touching my face. "That medicine has you so bloated."

"Wow, thanks." I said sarcastically.

"Oh, you know what I mean." She said gently patting my arm. "You look lovely. When are you going to come over for dinner?"

"Well, my schedule is completely free as of now." I smiled at her.

"Great! Lewis and I are having a banquet for our anniversary and we would love if you all could come!" Mrs. Brooks said.

She and Mom grew up best friends which is how Tyler and I originally met and maintained our friendship. They did everything together so we did everything together. They sent us to the same schools, churches, clubs, sporting events, everything. It was impossible for us to hate each other.

"Maybe you'll be Tyler's date." She nudged me and winked.

"Mom..." Tyler groaned.

I simply laughed at her statement.

"What? I'm just trying to help you out. Look at her. She's the pot of gold at the end of your rainbow, Tyler." Mrs. Brooks rolled her yes annoyed. "Sometimes I wish she would've grown up with Hunter instead. He's always had a little crush on her."

"Mom!" Hunter said.

"Don't get shy now." She mumbled walking over to the sink to help Mom wash off some fruits.

"Isn't that funny." Mom started. "I always thought Amari and Tyler had a little thing For each other."

"Mom!" I said.

"Oh hush." Mom laughed. "You two might as well."

Tyler looked away with a blush and I groaned.

"You're making my ankle hurt." I said.

"It's alright, pretty lady." Dad said patting my shoulder. "They're just running their mouths."

"Mmhmm." Mom hummed. "We won't be for long."

"Anyway, Char and Wesley, do you guys know anyone who can make a strawberry cake big enough to feed at least 120 people?" Mr. Brooks asked.

"Now Lewis, you know I am the best baker around." Mom said. "I'll handle that cake."

"By handle she means she'll call in a special order at John's." I said and we all laughed, except Mom.

"See? Being smart done broke your ankle." She said.

"Sprained. Not broken." I said.

"Either way, you can't walk." She stuck her tongue out at me and Mrs. Brooks stuck her tongue out at my Mom.

"Don't talk to my baby like that, Char." Mrs. Brooks said.

I've always been her baby. Since I was born.

"Your baby gonna get baked into your cake she keep telling my secret recipes, Maya." Mom laughed.

We all sat around and ate breakfast. When we were done, Mom put us out of the kitchen so they could clean. Tyler, Hunter, and I all went up to my room and watched TV. Hunter was glued to his phone as he sat on the foot of my bed. Tyler and I both sat up by the headboard whispering about whatever.

"Who're you bringing to your parent's banquet?" I asked.

"I don't know." Tyler shrugged. "Naomi really wants to meet them, but I don't know if that's a good idea. Who're you bringing?"

"I mean, Jason." I said and I saw Tyler's face grow annoyed. "But I know you don't like him so I might just hang around with Hunter until you get tired of Naomi."

"Uh, Hunter is bringing a date." Hunter said. "Sorry, sis."

I poked his back with my toes.

"But I'm your favorite sister." I said.

"Yeah, but I don't want my other sister to get jealous, right Tyra?" He asked looking at Tyler.

Tyler faked a smile and rolled his eyes. I stifled my laugh as Hunter smiled back at Tyler.

"No, but if you want, you can definitely hang around with me and my date. I'm sure she won't mind." Hunter shrugged.

"No I'm fine." I sighed. "I'll just be forever alone."

I dramatically fell back against Tyler's chest. He stared down at me before glancing over to Hunter who was no longer looking at us. Tyler quickly kissed my lips and I bit my lip to hide my smile.

"You can bring Jason. I'll restrain myself from killing him. Besides, I'm pretty sure Hunter will want his head once he meets him." Tyler shrugged.

"I will." Hunter nodded not looking at us and I laughed.

"Whatever. Jason's a nice guy." I said.

"As your brother, I don't care if he's nice or an asshole. I want him dead either way." Hunter shrugged.

"Exactly." Tyler smiled at me.
