Amari

Laying beside Tyler with my eyes open and staring off into the darkness of my bedroom made me suddenly aware of everything. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. I could hear Tyler breathing and although his legs and arms were thrown crazily around the bed as if he were sleeping, I knew he was awake. I didn't hear his soft snores. Neither of us spoke. We both sat awake until the sun began to rise and the birds began to chirp. Saturday was here and we weren't prepared. My phone alarm went off and I rolled out of bed tiredly before dragging myself into the bathroom to shower and brush my teeth.

I walked back into my room to see Tyler sitting on the bed staring down at his phone. He had his AirPods in so he hadn't heard me come into the room. I walked over to him and sat beside him causing him to glance up at me before pausing the video on his phone.

"Don't be mad..." He started.

"Mad about what?" I asked cautiously.

He handed me and AirPod before pressing play. I stared at the black video and listened to my moans and his groans coming from it.

"Leo thought it was your voice so he sent it to me. He didn't open the door though." Tyler said before I tackled him.

"Don't tell him!" I yelled wrestling with him.

"I won't!" He yelled back trying to flip us.

"What're we going to do?" I asked as he pinned my arms above my head when he finally got on top.

"Uh, Nothing." Tyler shook his head. "He doesn't know that it's you and I won't tell him."

"But Naomi knows I was at the party and she knows you went missing. They're dumb, but not that dumb." I rolled my eyes.

"Then we'll ignore the situation until it blows over." Tyler sighed.

"Okay." I nodded. "Now get off of me."

He stared at me for a second before looking away and getting off of me.

"Where's your shirt?" He asked clearing his throat.

"This is my shirt." I shrugged. "I'm staying in the house, so I don't need real clothes."

"Amari..." He trailed off and I raised an eyebrow at him. "Nevermind."

"No. Now I want to know. What?" I asked.

Tyler stood up and shoved his hands in his pockets.

"I don't know." He shrugged. "I feel weird seeing you in that."

"I always dressed like this when we stay in." I said. "Even when I was more of a boy than girl."

"Yeah, but we've done things." He mumbled.

"So? We said that it wouldn't change anything, remember?" I shrugged laying back on my bed and he stared at me.

"I meant that it wouldn't change our friendship, Amari." He sighed.

"And it didn't." I rolled my eyes and he looked at me blankly.

We stared at each other for a second before I looked away to grab the remote and turn on my TV. I felt wet kisses being laid on my stomach causing me to look down and see the top of Tyler's head. He glanced up at me before continuing to kiss my stomach. My breathing sped up as he rubbed my thighs. He came up and softly pecked my lips.

"Something changed, Amari." He mumbled against my lips before kissing me again.

He captured my bottom lip between his teeth and I moaned as he bit down on it softly before releasing it only to kiss it again.

"And you know it." He mumbled again.

"We're just friends." I whispered against his lips.

He stared at me for a second before standing up and running his hand through his hair.

"We're a lot more than friends." He said looking at me.

"Tyler, is there something you want to say?" I asked and he looked at me confused. "Like, do you have feelings for me now?"

"No." He laughed. "Not at all!" He laughed again and I stared at him blankly. "I'm just saying that now that we've done what we did there's no use in pretending like we don't want to do it again. Like, we won't continue to think about it."

"So what are you saying?" I asked sitting up. "You want to be my booty call?" I smirked.

"Hold on. I'm no booty call." He held up a finger. "I'm just saying that maybe we should just be each other's..." He trailed off.

"Friend with benefits?" I smirked.

"Yeah. Only the two of us are going to know about it and it won't be hard to maintain." He shrugged.

"And no one catches feelings?" I asked.

"No one catches feelings and we stop when one of us gets into a relationship." He nodded. "If it comes to it, we can have a code word."

"Like?" I waved him on.

"We need something we won't say in a conversation." He shrugged.

We thought about it for a while until Tyler looked up at me suddenly.

"Crapulous!" He said.

"Crapulous? I don't even know what that means." I rolled my eyes.

"I used it in an English paper. It means to feel sick because of excessive eating or drinking." He smiled proudly.

"You used it incorrectly in the paper?" I asked with squinted eyes.

"Point is, no one uses the word and won't be suspicious if we use it." He shrugged. "They'll just assume that it's some childish game we're playing."

"Fine." I sighed. "Now, we need rules. Like, we need to be careful. No one can find out about this."

"No one will." Tyler nodded. "We can't discuss it. It happens and that's it."

I nodded to show him that I understood.

"No cuddling after. We can't do it five times a week. Always use protection. And this relationship won't last." I said off the top of my head.

"How many casual sex dates have you had?" Tyler asked jokingly and I glared at him. "Fine. For the record, I'm not a cuddler anyway. You are."

"I am not." I rolled my eyes. "When does this whole thing start?"

"Whenever you want it to." Tyler shrugged and I bit my lip. "Oh, you want it now?" He threw his shirt off and across the room before jumping on me.

"Tyler!" I laughed. "It's too early."

"So?" He asked between kisses on my neck. "No better time than the present."

I laughed and captured his lips with mine.

Later that Day

"A large pepperoni, please." Tyler said into the phone. "Yeah. Can you put bacon on that too?... Cool."

He gave the guy the address before hanging up and coming over to the couch and sitting beside me.

"The pizza should be here in a few." He said. "After the pizza comes can you ride out to my house with me? I need to get my basketball uniform and track suit for JV try outs."

"I thought you were doing Football." I said looking over at him.

"I am, but I was still on Varsity last year. Coach wants us to be there for try outs and to show the new players old plays." Tyler shrugged. "So are you going to come with me?"

"Of course." I sighed changing the channel.

After Eating

I quickly slipped on an outfit before rushing out to Tyler's truck where he sat in the drivers seat texting on his phone. He looked over at me and studied my outfit.

"Awww. Old Amari is back!" He teased pinching my cheek.

"New Amari is just tired and didn't feel like looking cute." I mocked his teasing tone.

"Well, looks nice to me." He smiled at me before driving off.

At Tyler's house

As soon as we made it up to his room, Tyler went into the closet to find his clothes. I sat on his bed and looked around at the many drawings he had hanging up on his walls. Many drawings of me. Each a different style.

Tyler has been drawing for as long as I could remember. He had been drawing me since forever ago. Drawings of me were all over his room and each one made my heart race. They were so beautifully drawn.

"Ready to go?" Tyler asked stuffing his uniforms into a bag.

"Yeah." I mumbled looking at the drawings. "Why don't you draw anymore?" I asked.

Tyler walked to stand beside me and he stared at the picture I was staring at.

"I don't know." He mumbled. "I can never really find time for it anymore."

When Tyler sat down, he liked to finish his work in one sitting. If he knew that the drawing wouldn't be done before he had to go do something else, he didn't start it.

"You have time now." I said looking over at him.

Tyler stared down at me and I stared up at him. His eyes shifted from my eyes to my lips then back to my eyes.

"That's not really what I want to do..." He mumbled gently grabbing my face.

He leaned in and I blushed turning my head away. He kissed my cheek before kissing my lips.

"Now, sit on the bed." He said. "Get comfortable because you may be there for a few hours."

I laughed and posed on the bed as he sighed and took a seat at his desk to begin drawing.

Hours Later

The rain was pouring outside when my eyes fluttered open. I yawned and looked around until my eyes finally landed on a tired Tyler. He was covered in black charcoal, pencil markings, eraser shavings, and black paint. His shirt had somehow managed to get off of his body and his hair was all over the place. I quietly got out of bed and walked over to where Tyler sat. I looked over his shoulder and down at the picture. The perfect picture.

"Woah..." I mumbled causing him to jump and look back at me before sighing and laying his head on his desk.

"Shit." He rasped. "What time is it?"

I shrugged and looked over to the nightstand where an alarm clock flashed 2:45 in a big bold font. Tyler's eyes followed mine and he yawned before getting up.

"Come on." He said walking over to his dresser for a shirt.

"We might as well stay here." I said. "It's raining out and you're clearly tired."

"I'm not tired." He rolled his eyes.

"Yes you are." I shook my head. "Stop being sensitive and lay down."

I gently shoved his chest and he grabbed my wrist.

"Why do you insist on fighting with me?" He asked tiredly.

"Because I like fighting you." I smiled at him before pulling away from him and laying on his bed.

I opened my arms and stared up at him.

"Come on." I said and Tyler stared at me before sighing and climbing on top of me.

He laid on me as I held him and played with his hair. Soon he was fast asleep. His face was buried in my neck and I listened to his soft snores and smelled his cologne. He always smelled good. I watched the rain fall hitting the glass window and I was content with where I was and who I was with. That's normal for best friends, though.
