We all grew up thinking our parents were heroes without capes.

Afterall, our mothers survived through nine months of carrying us, bringing us onto this world with an immense pain and raising us afterwards. During the painful growing process, they helped us through every second of it, not even minding the hardship. They did it out of love, not wanting anything in return.

Our fathers may have not endured the pain of carrying us but they helped our mothers survive through all of that, supported them into bringing their child on earth. Loving our mothers and making sure they were happy and okay.

Therefore, in our eyes, the eyes of the children, both of them were the biggest idols in life.

As we grew older, we started realizing they aren't perfect either. Obviously, they can't be. We're all humans bound to make mistakes, the mistakes are the things that keep us humane. And that's fine, that's how it is supposed to be.

But everything changes when in some cases, we realize they aren't imperfect heroes without capes at all. The moment they slowly evolve into the villains and everything we once thought was reality becomes a lie. Our entire life becomes a lie, and we become incapable of separating it from the reality.

So, we start separating ourselves from the people that raised us, because they made us lose faith in humanity. They made us lose trust in everyone, because we learned that we cannot even trust our own blood. Soon, this separation turns into anger. We become angry that it had to be this way, and we have every right to.

"D-dad?" Ethan whispers in both disbelief and hurt, the crack in his voice giving away his mixed emotions.

I remain silent, taking ahold of Ethan's trembling hand, trying to calm him somehow by tracing over it with my thumb.

"How the fuck did you learn about my whereabouts?" He snaps, his entire mood shifting to anger. The anger that has been building up since the day they were forced to live away from the monster disguised as their father. A coward that let down his sick wife and child.

"Son—" The male voice on the other side speaks up, only to be interrupted by him again.

"Don't," Ethan spits into the phone, "Don't even try to call me that."

"Just— hear me out for a minute, please." Ethan's father asks in a pleading manner.

Ethan turns to me, as if he's asking me to advise him what to do. I slowly nod , while I rub his shoulder, not sure what kind of reaction he expects from me. "Maybe it's something important?" I whisper, retrieving a hesitant nod from Ethan.

"Go ahead." He speaks after a cough leaves his throat, silently waiting for his father to start.

"I know you're convinced that I never tried to contact you or your sister," He begins, sadness dripping from his voice. "But I have tried to reach out to you many times, for years. I found your mom's new phone number and contacted her, begging her to give you the phone. She didn't want to, she didn't allow me to, but I kept trying and trying. I wanted to speak to my son and my daughter because I had changed—"

"If calling wasn't an option, why didn't you try to visit us?" Ethan interrupts with a question that is straight to the point, chewing on his bottom lip.

"I couldn't..." Ethan's dad hesitantly answers, "there's something that I've kept from your mom for many years and I was afraid to tell her that. If I came to visit you guys, I'd end up telling it while I wasn't even ready to. I knew telling her that what I've kept from her all this time, would change all of our lives. I was afraid, so I just kept trying to reach you through the phone. I was a coward."

Ethan gulps, question marks taking over his innocent yet angry gaze. "What is it that you've kept from us?" he asks, clearly chewing his bottom lip too hard. I reach out for his chin, tracing my fingers over it and reaching his lips which are close to bleeding, making him relax under my faint touch.

"I can't tell you that over the phone," Ethan's father answers. "The owner of this motel is one of my old friends. He called me to let me know that someone with the same surname would stay the night, because he knew I had been trying to reach my son for years. I'm just extremely thankful I've gotten this chance and I think this is a sign for me to share the truth. Is it possible for us to meet somewhere, alone?"

Ethan let's out a frustrated sigh as he runs his fingers through his hair, tugging at a few ends of it.

After a few seconds of fighting with his inner voices, he finally gives in and answers. "Okay, we can meet up tomorrow. Only if you promise to tell me everything that you've kept from us. No lies, the entire story."

"I promise," His father answers without hesitation. "I just want the truth to come out, even though we might all suffer from it all over again."

"I don't care," Ethan answers, "After twenty years, I think I deserve to know why everything in our lives went downhill, father."

"You do deserve the truth," His father sighs and gives the name of a random coffee place near our motel. Ethan quickly motions for me to help him write it down. I unlock my phone and hand it over to him, watching as he types the address into my notes.

"I'll see you there around two then." Ethan asks, giving me my phone back with his free hand.

"Yes." His father replies. "Goodnight son."

Ethan slightly winces at the word son and doesn't reply, hanging up after a few seconds of hesitation. I don't speak, waiting for him to do so whenever he feels like talking about it.

"What the hell just happened?" He says, rubbing his sleep deprived eyes. "I just really need to get some fresh air." He silently adds, once again running a hand through his messy hair in frustration.

"Okay." I answer as I let go of his hand, sympathy laced into my softly spoken words, "I'll be here whenever you need me, Ethan."

"Actually," He turns his head towards my direction, taking my hand in his again. "I would like your company."

A crooked smile spreads across my face as I squeeze his hand, following Ethan to the door that will lead us to the balcony. As soon as I step out into the cold night air, a shiver runs down my entire body, my layer of night clothes not warming me enough.

"I'll be back." I say to Ethan as he sits down on the wooden bench, located on the small balcony. I walk inside and grab our winter coats, our scarves and the blanket from Ethan's bed. I return in a minute, only to find Ethan staring in front of him.

After we cover ourselves up with the thick clothing and the blanket draped over our shoulders, I scoot closer to Ethan, who chooses to remain silent.

Since the motel is located out of town, the area around it seems dark. But from the balcony, the lights of the city that is located miles away, shines and brightens up the empty night sky like a constellation of stars.

"This is beautiful." I whisper, glancing at the mesmerizing view in front of me.

It's early in the morning by now, the slowly rising volume of the chirping birds announcing the sun will make her comeback soon. Yet, the city isn't dark at all, lights sparkling everywhere and showing that we're not the only ones that can't sleep.

"So beautiful." Ethan whispers, causing me to turn around at his voice near me. A shade of crimson creeps up my heated cheeks as I realize he's not staring at the view, he's staring at me. "I've never seen anything this beautiful." He continues, wiping a few strings of messy hair away from my face.

I sigh into his touch, getting lost in his loving glares that make my heart race already. He makes me feel so much at once, just a simple stare, a word, a touch and I'm completely burning.

Burning with the desire of being his.

Even if it will most likely ruin me in the end, I want to be his.

I want to love him recklessly.

"I want you to come with me tomorrow," he continues, his finger delicately moving over my burning cheeks.

"Me?" I manage to choke out, "Are you sure about that?"

He lets out a slight chuckle, nodding as an answer for my question. "I need someone to calm me down, because knowing myself, I'll probably lose my shit."

I nod as I stare into his empty eyes pleading for me to not leave him. "But," I begin as anxiety takes me over, "We don't really know him. Maybe he wants to tell you super private stuff and I will be like a stranger intruding your father and son moment after years of not seeing each other. I will most likely e—"

"Daisy?" Ethan interrupts me with a weak smile on his face, pulling me closer by my hands, causing my thigh to graze along his.

"Yeah?" I let out, letting my front teeth sink into my bottom lip.

"You're rambling." He takes ahold of my chin, his eyes roaming over my face as if he's seeking for a way to come even closer.

"Oh," I reply with a nervous laugh, "My nerves have just been all over the place lately. Tonight has become too much, first you surprised me. Now, my father is out there trying to find us, your father comes back after years and is going to meet you. As if the secrets in my life aren't enough for the both of us and for a damn lifetime, now you have undiscovered secrets too—"

"Daisy?" Ethan interrupts with his gruff voice. "You're doing it again." His gaze dropping to my lips as a longing look takes over his green eyes, making me forget about the lights coming from the city in front of us.

My eyes drop to his lips as well, my heart nearly beating out of my chest. "Yes?" I somehow manage to breathe out.

"Please, just let me kiss you." Ethan whispers, his hand tracing the bare skin of the back of my neck.

"O-okay," I stutter, nearly losing my mind. The tension in the air is literally sucking the oxygen out of my lungs.

I want you to.

"Okay what?" Ethan whispers, purposely wanting to hear me say the words as if he's unsure if I'm feeling the same away about this. "Okay what?" He pleads for the second time, holding my hand and placing it upon his racing heart.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

I do not hesitate and do the same with his hand, wanting my heart to give him the answers my mouth is too shy to speak.

His eyes travel to my trembling lips and his breathing visibly slows. I can't help but mimic his expression, leaning in a little closer as well.

"Please say the words Daisy," He urges, "I need to hear the words." He pleads one last time and finally, he doesn't have to ask again.

"Kiss me." I reply back, "Kiss me Ethan." is all I need to say to make his breathing hitch, as he moves slightly forward to finally close the gap inbetween us.

His lips find mine with a swift move, making me forget about the world around us. One of his hands find my cheek, his other going through my messy brown locks, completely pulling me into a trance, one I don't want to get out.

My hands fall behind his neck as I let them linger there, tracing the ends of his soft hair, expressing the desire that is running through my veins.

I slowly part my lips, allowing him to explore me some more. As soon as he does, one of my hands grasp onto his shirt as my existence is burning because of the sensation of being this close to him.

He caresses my face, pulling both of us further into this mesmerizing haze. The more the kiss deepens, the more hurt and desperation is being transferred between us. As if two hurt hearts are desperately trying to complete each other, to build each other again with their own ruins.

Ethan breaks the kiss and exhales as our foreheads lean against each other. The silence of the night is being filled with melodies from the chirping birds, the rising sun coloring the sky ethereal shades of orange, pink and purple, creating a beautiful glow to fall upon our faces.

"I've wanted to feel your lips on mine for so long." he murmurs, only to lean in once again, taking my breath away and setting me on fire, over and over again.

We kiss until our lips hurt and then achingly kiss more and more. I'll never get enough of this.
