" You'll always be the girl with the most beautiful heart that breaks for other people. I hope you live to see goodness again, to see the sun shine before your eyes again, smile again, laugh again, love fearlessly all over again. Because I know you will."

JUNE 11, 2013

It's a beautiful sunny and chilly day in Seattle this morning.

Savannah Peters fixes her brown satchel trying to balance as she stands up from her seat holding her coffee on her left hand while her right hand straightens her coat as she walks to get off the bus. "Thank you." She tells the older man driving the bus. She walks slowly towards the big hospital building Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital, gazing through its gray and orange exteriors, standing there feeling the cold wind blow through her face and the morning sunlight beaming through her brown eyes as people pass her by. This felt good. It felt different. It felt new. It felt hopeful.

She lets out a breath as she holds the strap of her satchel. She starts to move her feet that has been stuck on the ground for the past five minutes looking towards the big glass panned doors.

" Be with me today. I need it. "

"Hi, how may I help you today?" says the woman from the front desk as Savannah looks around the big hospital with a smile on her face.
"Hi, I have an appointment with the chief, Dr. Owen Hunt. I was just wondering where I could find him?" The lady reaches for the phone,
"Dr. Hunt is in his office right now which is on the third floor. Take that elevator. When you get there just turn right and the office is right after the bridge."
"Thank you very much." she says as she walks toward the elevator.

Callie barges in the door of  her best friend-slash-neighbour-turned-baby daddy's apartment. She sees him passed out on the couch with no shirt on and looks at the empty beer bottles on the coffee table. She kneels down near his face, running her hand through the top of his head.

"Mark. Mark... Come on you gotta wake up honey. We've got work today."
"Ugghh. Callie let me sleep." He switches his body to the other side of the couch.
"MARK, you've been sleeping for the past two days. I know its been tough with Lexie and Jackson, but we've got work to get to. Plus you're starting to smell. And trust me its not a good kind of steam." She says as she takes the beer bottles off the coffee table. She takes a look at her best friend.
"Come on Mark. Stop stressing yourself out. You made the right choice." Callie sits on the end of the couch. Mark sits up.
"It was a good choice Callie, but what if it wasn't the right choice? What if she was the right choice and I let her get away?" He says with this worried look on his face thinking of the speech he told Lexie letting her go and accepting that she's with Jackson now. Callie grabs his hand and locks it with hers.
"Honey, we'll just take it one day at a time. You'll feel better. Whether its Lexie you're meant to be with or not, you will get there. You'll get your right choice." He rests his head on her shoulder while his bestfriend tells him with a sweet smile. There was a five second pause before Callie asked,
"Is it too soon to tell you that Arizona and I were kinda hoping you have Sofia tonight since its been two weeks since we went on a date?" Mark lets out a small laugh.
"Go on your date. I'll take the kid. At least two of her parents are happy and in love." Callie starts laughing out loud which makes her bestfriend laugh at the same time with his head still resting on her shoulders.

Savannah found the chief's office easily. She knocks and opens the door. "I heard this is the cave of Owen Hunt who happens to be chief of surgery!??" She says as she sees her red headed-blue eyed friend from a long time ago. As soon as their eyes met Owen stood up from his chair and walks quickly towards Savannah to give her a hug.

"Savannah Peters it is so good to see you!"
"Wow. How long has it been? Six years? It surely doesn't feel like it." Owen hands Savannah a cup of coffee as they sat on the black lounge in his office.
"Six years since Uganda. That was a great year." She tells him as she takes a sip of her coffee. Owen smiles at her.
"Well I cannot tell you how happy and excited I am that you took this job, with Dr. Robbins finishing her fetal surgery fellowship we definitely need an extra pair of hands for peds."

Owen and Savannah talked for a while, reminiscing the year they spent together along with a great team in Uganda for a medical mission before Owen and some of the team had to go to Iraq.

"How good is it here though! I've been here for two weeks and it rains almost everyday." They both laugh. "Teddy actually said the same thing on her first day here."
"Teddy?! Has she been working here?" Savannah got excited with the thought of seeing Teddy again. They were the only girls from the team during their time at Uganda which meant that before they knew it, they became sisters. After Teddy enlisted for Iraq among with the team, both of them lost touch from each other but she knew that nothing had changed.

A knock came at the door, "Hey..." Teddy walks in the room with the biggest smile on her face shocked, "Savannah!" Savannah quickly stood up and hugged her long lost sister. "I wanted to surprise the two of you." Owen speaks as the two very excited girls hugged their hearts out.

Teddy took Savannah to the Attendings Lounge to get settled with her things and change to her dark blue scrubs and white coat. Savannah looks at herself in the mirror and she couldn't help but smile. It was too good of a day. How she wishes that he was here too. Her smile soon fades from the thought of him. You got this Savannah. It's a good day. Live this good day. The surgeon walks out of the bathroom ready for the tour around the hospital.

"You ready for the tour? Owen's just waiting." Teddy asks her friend. "Let's go...

Oh one thing, do you know where I can find Alex Karev?"

Teddy got paged during the tour just when they were about to see pediatrics. "This is Dr. Arizona Robbins, our chief of pediatrics. Dr. Robbins this is Dr. Savannah Peters our new pediatric surgeon from Southport Medical City. We did a year of medical service in Uganda with Dr. Altman and our team. I've seen her work and I know that she'll be a great help for your service." The chief introduced Savannah to Arizona.

"Hello Dr. Peters. Its a pleasure to meet you. I'm very excited to work with you. I've heard great things."
"Hi Dr. Robbins. Pleasure to be at your service. Like wise." The two pediatric surgeons exchanged a hand shake. "Would you like to come and see some of the patients we have for today?"
Owen's pager went off. "And that's my cue. I'll leave you guys to it." Both doctors said their thank you's as they walk to the first room.

"This is Toby Henderson, aged 10 suffering from a tumor on his right kidney. He's been here for 8 weeks we are still waiting for the donor to come..."

A dark brown haired doctor wearing dark blue scrubs walks in the room.

"and it will come soon. Because Toby here is a strong guy, like Captain America right Toby?" The kid nods at his favourite doctor as the guy walks to his bed. He looks behind him to a surprise. There was a long pause in the room.

"Well I'll be damned." With a smirk on his face looking at the familiar brown haired girl standing in front of him, smiling. A face that made him who he was today. "Dr. Karev, language please." Arizona tells her colleague. Still with a surprised look on his face, he turns to the young kid.
" Sorry buddy. Forget I said that." and goes back to the doctor standing in front of him. The doctors stepped out of the room while Arizona had to see another patient.

"Oh Sav! What the heck! You said you were coming here next week to visit your brother, you never said anything about working here! I could've picked you up from the airport and helped you get settled."

Alex missed this. Hugging his best friend. Its been two years since he last saw her. With everything happening with his fellowship he hasn't had time to visit her at Southport. But they still kept in touch. From his first day at Seattle Grace to Izzie to getting shot and stupidly not wanting to take the bullet out from Rebecca to Lexie to Lucy and now theres another girl. He thought that she looks good today. She looks happy. Still not like before but this was better.

"Well it wouldn't be a surprise if I told you the whole truth. Plus that look on your face was priceless!" Savannah tells her bestfriend as she tries to catch her breath from the tight hug he was giving her.

"Oh its so great to see you Sav! We have to get drinks tonight! On me!"
"You're paying this time? Wow. Well I wouldn't want to miss that! But Alex, you know I don't drink."
"I know Sav. I'll get you iced tea or club soda with lychee. Who would've thought we'd end up in Seattle huh." He let out a big sigh while his hands were on her shoulders.
          "I missed you."
          "I missed you too, bud."
"Anyway I have to go. That's a page from the ER. " He starts to run and looks back to his best friend with the biggest smile on his face.
"Drinks. On me. Tonight."
"Okay big shot." Savannah laughs looking at her best friend's face light up with excitement.

"Guess who decided to get up this morning!" Callie said as she and Mark approach Derek on the desk with both her hands inside her coat pockets. Derek, filling a chart looked to see his best friend. "Hey welcome back. You finally took a shower." Derek laughs as he continue to fill up the chart.

"Guys come on. It was two days. I took a leave. Can we just let it go." Mark tries to defend himself but his two best friends just kept laughing.

"By the way I need your help for a consult." Derek finally finished his chart and hands it over to the nurse behind the desk.
"On to it. Let's go. See ya Torres." The guys nod to Callie and starts walking.

"But how are you really?" Derek asks his best friend sitting next to him as they wait for the CT scans to upload. He really is worried for Mark. He knows how hard it would've been for him to let Lexie go for good this time. Knowing Mark for a long time, Derek knew deep inside that Mark is a good guy.  He deserves a great life but almost and always life doesn't work that way.

"I don't know man. I think seeing her happy makes it all better with me. To be honest I really don't know if we were meant to be. We always had an almost kind of relationship and she just doesn't deserve it. She deserves to have an all the way kind of relationship without children from the outside that makes her a step mom or a grandmother on an instant. She deserves the fairytale dream." Derek continues to look at Mark's eyes with concern.
"You deserve the fairytale dream too, Mark." He pats the blue eyed doctor on the back.
"Yeah. Maybe." Mark answers as the CT shows up on the computer.

The day went quickly for Savannah. With the tour, paper works, consults and a 7 hour bone marrow transplant she had just finished with Arizona, Savannah was ready to go home for a long warm bath and sleep. Washing her hands she looks at the operating room as the nurses push the 8 year old girl out of the OR. She couldn't help but smile for the success and satisfaction she felt for the child. She realized that it might not take much of a long time for her to adjust in Seattle. It felt good though. Being busy in a different environment. She takes off her pink floral scrub cap and heads to the attending lounge to get changed.

After changing in the bathroom she saw Alex just coming in the room. "Hey Sav, you ready to go?" Alex tells her as he opens the cabinet to get his things. "Yep. Ready whenever you are." She answers as she pulls her hair out from the bun she had from the surgery.

"I'll just get changed and then we'll go to Joe's." Alex walks towards the bathroom then took a step back to look at his best friend.
"Have I told you how happy I am to see you."

"A couple of times. Now come on and get ready! Im so hungry." The brown haired doctor answered.

"This is Joe's. Almost everyone from the hospital heads down here after shifts." Alex and Savannah walks inside the bar full of people. They took a seat in front of the counter. "Sometimes even before their shifts." The guy behind the bar serving drinks smiled at Savannah. "And that is Joe. Best guy in town." Alex points at Joe. Savannah smiles. "Joe, Savannah. Savannah, Joe." Alex introduced the two to each other. "Can we please have a beer and club soda with lychees." "Now that's different." "I know. She's weird. She doesn't drink." Joe nods smiling. "Coming right up."

The two doctors started talking and laughing as they took sip of their drinks. "So where are you living right now? Have you settled in?"

"Yeah I just live a couple of blocks away, about 15 minutes of walking to the hospital so I'm still taking the bus. Haha. Paige and Nathan flew with me to help me get settled for a few days. Mom wanted to go but she's too busy back home. She did say when she visits here that you're the first one she wants to see."

"Aww thats great Sav. I do miss Camilla, and John. How is she by the way?"
"She's good. Its been 5 years since dad died, its a good thing that she's busy. Atleast it takes her mind off dad even for just a sec..."
Alex nods as he listens to the girl beside him talk about her dad. She is so strong he thought. She's always been strong almost as if she always needed to be.
"Even though mom and I know that that's not possible at all."
"I'm sorry I couldn't be there for John's funeral Sav..."
"Hey don't sweat it. We knew you were having troubles with your mom then. He would've understood your situation." She smiles at Alex. "Anyways enough of that, I heard you've been sleeping with the interns..." she smirks at him. "You know thats not true."
"I know. I was just playing you. So whatever happened to Jo?"
Alex's pager went off and he checked it quickly, "Sorry Sav I have to go to the hospital its 911." He hurriedly took his jacket and bag.
"Go. I understand."
Alex kissed her on the side of her head.
"Before I forget." He leaves a $20 note on counter, smiles and walks away.
"Haha Go. Its 911."

"Ex-boyfriend?" Joe asks Savannah as he takes the money from the counter. She started to laugh. " No! Hahaha not at all. He's my brother." She looks back as he walks out of the bar.

"You wanna get a drink?" Derek asks Mark as they wait for the elevator to open.
"Yeah. Why not." Mark answers as the doors open.

As they walk down stairs to Joe's, Mark's cellphone rang. "Hey Mark, do you remember what we talked about this morning? Sofia? Date night? Does it ring a bell?"
"Of course. I'm already on my way."
"Thank you! Can you also get her diapers? You might need extra for tonight. There's only two left here and we forgot to check."
"Gotcha. I'll see you soon." Mark hangs up and looks at Derek who's waiting at the door. "Hey man I gotta go. I forgot I had Sofia tonight. But tomorrow we'll go." Derek lets go of the door and starts walking up the stairs he tilts his head and nods "Yeah actually I was just keeping you company. Now I can go home to my pregnant wife." He smiles at Mark.
"And here I thought.." Mark shakes his head as they both walk up the stairs. "You know I care about you buddy. Anything to keep you showering." He pats his friend on the shoulder. "It was two days!" Mark defending himself again.

After Alex left Savannah soon took off when she realized she hasn't eaten anything for dinner and would kill for a longer sleep tonight. She left the bar since she wanted mac n' cheese, the store bought-pour-the-cheese-powder kind and Joe's didn't have it.

She walks through the box aisle of the grocery that was near to her apartment, she took the blue box of easy mac. And another one. Two boxes just to be safe. I should get some ice cream too. It wouldn't hurt. She thought to herself. It's not like she was gonna finish everything in one go. She just needed to stock up. She looks for the ice cream fridge and finds it. She opens it only to be overwhelmed with so much flavours she stares at them and looks to her right, a tall, gray haired, blue eyed man holding a bag of diapers on his right hand and two tubs of ice cream on his left. He notices her
