"Theres never been a moment where I forgot about you, all I could think about was you. All of you."

JULY 23, 2013

It was a rainy Tuesday evening and Savannah have just finished work. She stands in front of the elevator doors holding an umbrella, wearing her navy jacket and brown satchel. It's been such a busy day but thankfully the craziness have died down. The elevators open and she sees the blue-eyed surgeon leaning on the wall at the back of the elevator. Their eyes meeting making Mark smile confidently. She stands at the front looking down on the floor and just smiled knowing that somehow he always knew how to make her laugh. She already knew what he'll do in this situation knowing that it was just the two of them inside the elevator.

"Don't start Sloan." She says as a smile escapes from her.

"What? I'm not starting anything. If it matters I think you're the one starting it." He teasingly answers with his hands inside the pockets of his white coat.

"What!?" She tries to defend herself looking back to him.

"You brought it up!" He winks at her.

"Oh my gosh." She almost laughs out of frustration.

"So Peters, dinner with me?" Mark smirking as he takes a step closer to her, talking behind her ear like he knew what he was doing.

"We already had dinner, remember?" She confidently answers trying to ignore the feeling of his breath on her neck.

"Well that was a my-colleague-ditched-me-dinner, I'm talking about a mark-sloan-dinner." He smirks at her.

"Oh you are so smug." She looks at him shaking her head as she smiles.

"Is it because of Karev?"

"What?"

"I've seen you guys. Are you dating? Is that why you keep saying no? Or do you like him? Cause I've also seen him with Wilson."

"No." She laughs catching his face change into a serious look. The elevator doors open to the lobby where Teddy and Callie were waiting.

"Good night Sloan." She looks to him smiling at his frustration.

"Hey!" Both girls tell the brunette that was leaving.

"Good night Savannah. This doesn't mean I'll stop asking!"

"Hey see you tomorrow. Have a great night."

"You too Savannah!" Teddy answers.

She walks out with confidence holding her hand up as a sign of good bye without looking back to him. Teddy and Callie enters both raising their eyebrows mockingly to Mark and the elevator door closes. Mark chuckles.

"She totally was flirting too."

"He has a huge crush on her. Then she operated on our daughter, so now we think he's in love with her. Except she won't say yes to a date." Callie tells Teddy standing next to her. Teddy chuckles.

"Well she's gonna be a tough one."

"Oh I know. Hey, she'll yes to me soon. No one's too tough for this face." Mark in all his confidence.

"Hey what do you mean about being tough?" Callie looks at Teddy.

"Nothing. I meant good luck." Teddy smiles at Mark as she tries to change the subject.

Savannah gets to Meredith's house which is now Alex's. She rings the bell and no answer. She looks down at the plant pots on the floor. Surely there's a key somewhere. She starts to lift the pots and finally sees the spare key. She opens the door and heads to Alex's room. He was still sleeping.

"Alex!" She opens his door carrying a pizza box.

"Alex! how have you not heard me. I could've been a thief and you wouldn't have noticed." She says as she climbs to the bed settling herself next to him.

"Sav, I'm sleeping." Alex was on his stomach, his face buried on his gray pillow.

"I brought pizza." She opens the box and pulls a piece letting the smell get to his senses.

"You should've said that first." He slowly opens his eyes. He turns his bedside lamp on and leans on the headboard.

"Haha that's what I thought." She pulls him a piece.

"What's wrong why did you come here?"

"Nothing."

"Yeah right." Both taking a bite of their dinner.

"Nothing. I just wanted to eat dinner with my best friend. Is that so wrong? You know I hate eating alone." Savannah rests on the headboard.

"This isn't dinner." Alex disagrees looking at the pizza.

"Do you want my pizza or not?"

"Come on. Are you going to tell me?"

"I thought you might need some help cleaning."

"Hey Kepner's already doing a great job with that." They both laugh.

Savannah looks to Alex, her face changes.

"I missed him today. Just like any other day. But today I miss him, like he's going to come home anytime soon." She looks at her dinner and pauses. She continues.

"Even though he isn't."

He looked at her, and her eyes spoke what words couldn't say. He tries to lighten her up. This is the part where he should say something about his day to distract her.

"Jo bought me a couch."

"I saw that! Hey at least you've got a couch now."

"I know. Mer had to take her couch to their new house. I don't know why she couldn't just leave it here. There are four of us still living here."

"Hey you bought the house. You're like their landlord. They pay you. You should give them a couch."

"Yeah well I kinda like not having a couch, at least I won't see Jackson and Lexie doing it."

"You're gross."

"Yeah well Jo and I won't be doing it on the couch anytime soon. She said I was like a brother to her."

"Just tell her you like her."

"Nahh. We have a good thing going on. I'd rather have her than lose whatever this is because of sleeping with her."

"Whoah. That's definitely not you."

"Gee, thanks."

" I'm just saying there's no way she won't like you." She looks at him teasingly.

"Yeah well how about you and Mark?"

"What do you mean about Me and Mark? There's no Me and Mark."

"Yeah right. He's asked you like what? 6 times now since you got here. He likes you."

"Shut up. You know I'm not ready."

"I know. But I'm just saying, one day you're gonna have to be ready."

"He asked me again tonight. He asked about you, if we had a thing going on."

"What!"

"I know!" Both of them burst into laughter.

"Now that's gross. What did you say?"

"I didn't. The doors opened and I had to leave."

"So he thinks we have thing?"

"I think he does." They both look at each other a second later they continue to burst into laughter.

"Hey maybe Jo thinks we have a thing?"

"Just tell her you like her!"

"Well say yes to Sloan!" She raises her eyebrows.

"I shouldn't have brought you dinner." She says as she looks to her watch.

"Actually I have to go pick up Eric from the airport now. I gotta go. I'll see  you tomorrow." She kisses him on top of his head leaving the bed.

"Thanks for dinner."

"You're welcome. Hey, you want to come to my house tomorrow night? We're celebrating Dad. Brian's gonna be there too." She continues as she puts her jacket and satchel over her head.

"I'll be there." He smiles at his best friend heading towards the door.

"Hey, I'm just saying. You're a good man and you're not her brother. You're already my brother. Jo likes you, she'll admit that once she's ready." She teases him. He replies with a warm smile.

Savannah stands at the waiting area at the airport. People are coming out of the luggage area. Seconds later she sees the guy she's been waiting to see for the longest time walk out of the glass doors holding a brown leather duffel bag with a huge a smile on his face.

"Hey Sav." They go in for a tight hug.

"Hey Eric. Missed you."

"Missed you too, sis."

"Sorry Brian couldn't come with me. Apparently he had to finish filming somewhere in the woods. But he'll be here tomorrow." He puts his arm on her shoulders.

"Yeah well he better not miss our bake off tomorrow night." They both laugh as they walk side by side with their arms on the back of each other's. Eric gives Savannah a kiss on the side of her head.

"Is it raining?"

"Its Seattle, of course its raining." Savannah answers smiling at his big brother.

  ❀

Savannah and Eric got to the hospital early in the morning. It was chilly even though it was July and it definitely was a mistake not bringing her jacket with her. The ground was almost wet from the morning mist and every time they spoke there was a little bit of smoke. They both walk towards the main entrance of the hospital. Eric stops walking checking his pockets.

"Sav, I forgot my phone from the car. Can I borrow the keys?" Eric asks remembering he left his phone on his seat. Savannah peaks at her bag and tosses him her keys.

"I'll wait inside. Its a bit cold."

"Okay. I'll be quick." She approached the big glass sliding doors when Mark holding a coffee in his hand sees the brunette doctor.

"Savannah!" She hears him and finds him walking faster towards her. She smiles at him.

"Morning Dr. Sloan." He smiles at her.

"Hey I know you said no to dinner, but how about breakfast?"

"You just don't stop don't you?" She chuckles. Her eyes squinting as she lightly scratch her neck.

"Hey you....." Mark was going to say something confidently sarcastic but flirty when Eric approaches them.

"Sav I got it! Here." Eric almost running to her sister handing her the keys.

"Oh sweet." She gets the keys. Mark looks at the guy standing next to Savannah. His face changes but he manages not getting caught. He quickly smiles.

"Hey this is Mark Sloan, he's a surgeon here. This is Eric. Eric, this is Mark." Savannah introduces them to each other. Eric smiles at him both exchanging a handshake.

"Hey, pleasure to meet you." Eric says.

"Likewise." Mark answers briefly.

Savannah's pager beeps and she quickly checks it.

"That's 911 I have to go. Sorry, Mark can you show him to Owen's office?" She asks Mark.

"Sure, you go." He answers with assurance as the doctor runs inside the hospital.

"Thank you! I'll see you later." She thanks Mark and takes a quick glance of goodbye to her brother.

"She's always this busy isn't she." Eric asks the gray haired doctor standing next to him as they both watch Savannah run.

"She's a machine." Mark chuckles.

"I'll show you to Hunt's."

"Thanks man." The guys walk inside the hospital.

"Are you a friend of Hunt?" Mark asks as they head to the elevator.

"Yeah. But actually he's more of Savannah's" He answers. Mark was intrigued by the guy he wanted to know who he was in Savannah's life but he didn't want to be too obvious. He finally thought of a safe question when Owen sees them.

"Eric! Sloan!" They turn around to the chief running towards them. Eric and Owen exchange handshakes and a brotherly hug.

"Hey man how are you?" Eric asks the chief. The elevator doors open.

"I'll see you guys later." Mark waves goodbye as he goes inside the elevator. Eric and Owen looks to him and say their thank yous.

"You ready for your surgery?"

"Hey, here when you need me." Eric smiles at Owen as they walk to his office.

"Have you seen the new doctor? I googled him. He worked at Boston General as the head of Neuro then when his dad passed away he moved back to North Carolina to run his Dad's hospital." Stephanie tells Jo about the neurosurgeon that came in.

"Oh Dr. Hamilton? I saw him talking to Dr. Yang and Dr. Grey. He is so hot! He looks like Clark Kent!" Jo answers.

"More like McSexy!" Stephanie whispers to Jo as they walk past Mark holding their charts.

Mark was leaning on the nurse's information desk drinking coffee when he heard the conversation of the interns passing by.

"Hey you alright?" Callie who was typing on the computers looks up to him.

"I think she's seeing someone. That's why she keeps saying no." He takes a sip of his coffee.

"What?"

"I saw her walk in with a guy this morning. Name's Eric."

"Oh you talking about Dr. Hamilton? Aren't you doing a surgery with him and Shepherd today?" It somehow made sense now. He was the neurosurgeon that was coming in from Boston for the big surgery. It still didn't make sense to him why he was with Savannah.

"Dr. Sloan!" Owen, Eric and Derek approaches the plastic surgeon.

"I believe you've met Dr. Hamilton from this morning. He's from Boston General but now running Southport Medical Center. He'll be doing the Wittman Separation Surgery with us today. He's one of the bests neurosurgeon in the country. Shall we go and see our patients gentlemen?" The doctors start to walk to their patients room, every eye that caught their way couldn't look away from the four handsome surgeons walking through the halls of the hospital. It was almost like they were from a boy band or from a group of super heroes.

Its only been two hours since their first meeting outside the hospital and Mark has tried his best to act calmly and natural around Eric. He gets it. He's a successful surgeon and he was good looking, but wasn't he the same? Why was he even feeling like this. He's definitely not jealous of him. He's Mark Sloan for pete's sake. No he's not jealous, he was just curious. He stands in front of the OR board writing the information for their surgery together. Savannah walks out of the OR and sees Mark. She walks towards him still wearing her scrubs. Don't talk to me. He thought.

"Hey thanks for showing Eric this morning. I heard you're doing the Wittman Surgery with him and Shepherd today." Savannah looks at him sharing her gratitude happily, but he doesn't look at her.

"Don't worry about it Peters." His reply was brief and stern, still trying not to look at her. Savannah sees his facial expression.

"Are you okay?" She asks.

"Yeah." He pretends to study the OR board.

"Is this about last night?" She was smiling hoping he's look at her. He doesn't reply. Wow I've never seen him like this.

She takes the board eraser and brushes off the details from the surgery she had just done. She speaks,

"Alex and I grew up together. My parents fostered him. So no, we don't have a thing." She puts back the eraser and continues.

"He's my brother." She looks at him not knowing why she felt like she needed to explain herself. She doesn't even bother to look at him and just walks away. Mark somehow felt guilty. He didn't know why he did what he just did. He looks at her walking away from him. He still wasn't at peace, knowing that Eric was in the picture.

The surgeons scrub for the Wittman Surgery, Mark and Derek were first one to scrub inside the OR, Derek sees Mark's facial expression.

"What's wrong with you?" He asks while he ties his scrub cap.

"Why is everyone asking me that?"

"Well you look like you need to go to the toilet." Derek teases him.

"I was an ass to Savannah just then. Turns out she doesn't have a thing with Karev. Her parents fostered him." Mark turns the faucet on taking the bar of soap in his hands.

"Ahh..."

"Then I saw her walk in with Hamilton this morning. I think she's seeing him."

"So you're jealous?" Derek laughs as he mocks Mark.

"I don't get it. I asked her out million times, she could've just said she was already involved with someone else." Mark looks up to the OR window while they both scrub. The door opens, Richard and Eric walks in to scrub.

"Gentlemen, please join us!" Derek looks at the guys with a huge mocking smile on his face. He looks at Eric then he looks at Mark. Mark gives him an are you serious look.

Savannah have finished her surgery for this morning and had a free time to watch her brother perform the separation surgery with Mark and Derek. She walks through the halls of the hospital when she sees a pregnant Meredith.

"Hey Mer! how's baby shepherd?" Meredith smiles at her as they both walk inside the gallery.

"Fetus is good. Its a boy by the way." She smiles at Savannah.

"Oh hey! Congratulations!" They exchange a hug before finding a seat next to Alex and Cristina. Savannah sits beside Alex, Cristina on Alex's right side.

"Savannah! How can you forget telling me that Dr. John Hamilton was your father! He was like a cardiogod! He won like three Harper Avery's! Oh I'm so sorry that he passed away, but wow was he a great surgeon! And now your brother's here! Oh I wish he was here too. Sorry." Cristina
