"Izu!" Chiharu called out excitedly. He had been waiting outside U.A for a good five minutes now waiting for his friend to show up, and he'd finally spotted him.

Unfortunately he must have startled Izuku by shouting his name because he flinched and just fell over. Haru was about to run to see if he was okay, but his friend never hit the ground. A girl with short brown hair seemed to be levitating him above the ground.

She helped him upright again and Izuku immediately turned into a blushing mess. Chiharu gritted his teeth as he slowly approached the pair.

It was an unfortunate reality the Izuku was straight. It wasn't like Haru could change that, he was who he was. He really wanted to confess right there though, to just ask now before this girl got any closer to Izuku, but he couldn't. The timing wasn't right. Izuku hadn't even told him about his quirk yet (sure Haru already knew about it but that's not the point).

'High school' He told himself 'I have to wait until we're in high school'. "Hey Izu! I didn't mean to startle you, sorry.".

Izuku's eye snapped over to Chiharu as he coughed awkwardly. "No worries Haru. There was a bump in the steps, I probably would have fallen anyways. Um, that you for helping me." He directed the last part to the girl. She smiled sweetly and waved him off saying that hero's were supposed to help people.

The three of them didn't wait around outside any longer and headed in to take the practical exam.

------- ------- ------ ------- ------- ------ ------- --------

"You there! Your mumbling is incredibly distracting. If your only goal is to make this experience worse for everyone you should leave immediately." A tall boy with blue hair and glasses shouted.

"You're interrupting the presentation, sit down." Chiharu said angrily. The glasses boy seemed a little surprised at first but did sit down after a second. Haru poked Izuku's shoulder and gestured for him to switch seats with him. Izuku obliged easily.

After that awkward outburst Present Mic continued explaining the exam. Anxiety rushed through Chiharu's veins. Every second was another second closer to the big moment. He had one shot at this and one shot only.

He had confidence in what he knew. He was trained by the no.3 hero for gods sake. It wasn't like he was just going in blind. But still, it was a big task. Especially since they were robots and not real people.

It couldn't be impossible thought. He could manage it. Probably. Okay, maybe.

------- ------- ------ ------- ------- ------ ------- --------

Okay. 10 minutes. 10 minutes that would decide his future.

Chiharu started aimlessly running through the streets, looking for the highest point robot he could find.

Finally he encountered one of the tank like 3 pointers. He took a moment to just observe it. Know your enemy, Hawks always said. Maybe it was just for the test, to give them options, but it looked like there was a flaw in the design. Most of the wiring was exposed in the back of the robot.

It was close to the motor then. Most people wouldn't be able to get close for fear of the heat generated, but when you're invulnerable you don't learn much self preservation. Chiharu took a deep breath and started running past the robot, keeping close to the buildings. When he got close enough he sprinted across the street, catching the attention of a nearby two pointer.

"Target acquired." The two pointer said. It sounded like a sci-fi movie if Haru was being honest, but he didn't dwell on it. As fast as possible he clambered up the three pointer. Without hesitation he started pulling wires.

That was another thing, he was a lot stronger than most people simply because his muscles didn't get strained from lifting more than he should. With some difficulty he managed to pull two massive chunks of wires out. The robot continued to move, spinning in circles as it tried to catch Chiharu. The two pointer began to close it, so he doubled his efforts.

Eventually he pulled a large red wire, a different colour from the others that was surrounded by 6 useless looking grey ones. Could it have been any more obvious? The robot immediately stopped moving and all the blinking lights went dark.

Chiharu smiled triumphantly and turned to the two pointer as its scorpion like tail aimed itself at the student. Darting under the robot, he searched for any exposed wiring. This time it was on top of the robot and was much easier to pull out. Maybe it was because this one was worth less points? Regardless Chiharu waited for that one to completely shut down before reevaluating his surroundings.

He was pretty alone on the street, only two other people were fighting here. Plus the place was crawling with robots. Easy peasy.

Or it was until the zero pointer showed up. It was on the road next to the one Chiharu had moved to. Screams rang out at it neared the students and the boy rushed into action. He ran towards the danger, knowing there would be some people who wouldn't be able to run away.

He found a girl clutching her arm with gritted teeth running away, so he pulled her aside a little. "Are you alright?" He asked, pulling a ziplock bag out of his pocket. The girl moved her hand to reveal a pretty big cut. Chiharu hissed under his breath and pulled out his largest band aid.

"Ah, I don't want to take up any of your supplies!" The girl said, waving her uninjured hand. Chiharu just shook his head a little and smiled.

"My quirk is invulnerability, I brought them for everyone else." He said, flashing his little medical bracelet. The girl stared at him with wide eyes for a moment before she accepted the band aid. Suddenly Chiharu saw falling chunks of building falling down as people were still trying to leave the area.

He rushed right past the girl. It would be easier if he got a group of them together, then he could just cover them or something but that wasn't gonna happen with this many people. Luckily enough, he made it right in time to cover someone about to get crushed by the robot's tank like feet.

"How the fuck are you not dead?!?!" The boy below Chiharu asked, his mouth completely agape as the whole fucking robot rolled over them. Chiharu actually winced at the strain as he tried to hold his position on his hands and knees over the boy.

"Well-" Chiharu said, his breathing a little shaky, "a normal human can withstand about 400 pounds on top of them without dying. I can do a bit more. Much close too 1000. Thank fucking god this thing has 4 legs. I would be crushed just as you would be if it only had 2 legs.".

"When this thing lifts off of us-" He said, wheezing a little bit at the strain, "We're gonna run right to those buildings, you see them?". The blonde haired boy under him looked to the left and nodded. Not 15 seconds later the foot moved and they both sprinted for their lives.

The moment they slammed into the walls, panting and gasping for breath. "Shit bro." The blonde kid said, laughing. Chiharu started laughing too, a little hysterically so.

"Kaminari Denki." The blonde said, holding his hand out. Chiharu took it without hesitation but pulled back at the zap he received. "Ah, sorry. I'm a little hyped up after all that." He said sheepishly.

"No worries." Chiharu said with a smile. "I'm Iwamoto Chiharu. I hope we can see each other again.". Kaminari smiled even wider and nodded, a few stray bolts of electricity leaving his body.

------- ------- ------ ------- ------- ------ ------- --------

"Damn kid. A giant robot? Wouldn't that hurt?" Hawks asked, handing his trainee a glass of water. He had invited Chiharu over for dinner so they could open his envelope together. Of course Keigo had confidence Haru would make it but if he didn't then Hawks needed to be there for him. He couldn't let him open it at home alone.

"It did." Haru admitted, "The bruises are nearly healed now, so I'm not too worried. Besides, that guy probably would have been crushed.". Keigo's brows furrowed a little at the mention of bruises.

"Lift your shirt for me and let me see these bruises." He said, not leaving room for debate. Chiharu sighed and muttered something along the line of 'worry-wart'. But Hawks knew something was up and he was right.

The bruises were pretty bad. Dark purple and in various stages of healing. Keigo hissed air through his teeth. "Shit kiddo. I've got some bruise cream, hold on. Why don't you ever take care of yourself?" Hawks fretted.

"I don't really need to take care of myself. I've been injured much worse than this before, its not like it affects me." He said with a shrug.

"Injured? You? When did that happen? What happened to hurt you worse than this?" The pro hero asked worriedly. "I was run over by a car when I was 10." Chiharu said, like it was a perfectly normal thing to say.

"You were what?!" Keigo asked, a little too loudly. "I was run over by a car. Like most quirks mine got stronger with age, so now if I got run over it'd be fine, but I got bruised pretty badly back then." Haru continued.

"What happened to the driver?" The hero asked, ready to hunt down some asshole and make him pay for hurting his precious student. "I don't know. They drove off. I didn't even see their face.".

"Were the police unable to find them?" Hawks asked. How could they not find a person that would just hit a kid and drive away?

"I didn't call the police. Why would I? I'm invulnerable its not like they could have killed me." Chiharu said, raising an eyebrow at Hawks as if he was the weird one.

"It doesn't matter how badly you got hurt. They ran you over. Its still a crime." The hero said, genuinely concerned. Haru looked like he was going to respond but closed his mouth. They were silent for a second before Hawks bit the bullet.

He pulled Chiharu into a hug, which was awkward because they were both sitting on his couch, but it still worked. "Just because it doesn't hurt you physically doesn't mean that it isn't wrong. You don't have to be a sacrificial lamb or just take what people want to do to you. You're a person too, Haru." He said, his voice wet with emotion.

Chiharu nodded into his shoulder and they stayed like that for a couple minutes. "Can I open it now?" The middle schooler asked quietly. Hawks nodded and pulled away so Chiharu could open the envelope.

The boy could barely believe his ears as the hologram of the number one hero played. "In conclusion, when adding together your 30 villain points and 27 hero points, you have placed 9th! Welcome to your hero academia, Iwamoto Chiharu!".
