"He did that? Wow, I don't think I've seen him display a single emotion besides anger and continuous brooding since I've started working for him," Jess replied as she sat on the stool of the small kitchen island.

She was eating cupcakes that I made since I was stressed from working all night. I also filled her in on how lunch was with Mateo.

"What'd you even do when we left. You weren't in when I got back?" I asked as I frosted the chocolate goodness.

I made chocolate and cappuccino cupcakes. I frosted the cappuccino ones with chocolate icing and the chocolate ones with cappuccino icing.

"Chris took me to lunch," she mumbled and stuffed the rest of her cupcake in her mouth so she could excuse not answering more questions.

I was about to start questioning her when a heavy knock sounded through the house.

I wiped my hands on my apron filled with flour and other ingredients as I walked to the door. I looked out of the window and saw Mateo standing at my door.

"Who's that?" Jess asked wiping icing from her mouth.

"Mr Hernandez," I mouthed back in a slight panic as I opened the door to face the last person I expected to see on a Saturday.

"Afternoon Mr- Mateo. Why are you here? Do you need something?" I asked quickly correcting myself when I was about to call him Mr Hernandez. I saw the corner of his mouth twist up into a slight smirk before returning to normal.

"I came to get a few documents on Persia from the files I gave you yesterday," he replied and put his hands in his slacks pockets.

Even on a Saturday morning, this man was still in slacks and a dress shirt. He looked handsome but is that all his wardrobe consisted of.

I must look like such a mess right now. My apron was covered in my kitchen contents. My hair was in 2 braids at the bottom of my head, unwashed and slightly tangled. I didn't even make the parting with a comb. I had on old short shorts and a tank top that looked tie-dye but it was just the shirt I dyed my hair with many times.

"Of course, please come in. I'll get them," I replied moving to the side so his large figure could enter my small home. He looked like a giant in an ant hole.

I watched him look around and nod silently before sitting down on the couch in the living room.

I walked to my room after seeing that the kitchen was empty and found Jess sitting on my bed.

"Why the fuck is he here? It's literally Saturday. Can't you rest?" She asked as I looked for the file on Persia. I finally found it under my pillows.

"He came to get a few documents," I replied as I rushed out of the room with the file in hand.

I walked into the living room but I found it empty. Where did he go?

I heard Cassandra's voice in the kitchen so I moved in that direction only to find them sitting at the counter eating cupcakes.

"Hey Dia, these taste delicious by the way," she said stuffing the last of her cupcake into her mouth.

"Hi, Cass. Mateo, this is my younger sister, Cassandra. Cass,  this is my boss, Mr Hernandez," I introduced as I handed him the file.

He thanked me before putting it down.

"I already introduced myself, I'll be going to freshen up. It was nice meeting you Mr Hernandez," Cass chirped and got off her stool before leaving the kitchen.

"I'm sorry if she was a bother, I didn't think she'd be awake yet," I say and stood on the other side of the counter to keep a safe distance between Mateo and myself.

"She's actually really cool, slightly scary but cool," he says and I burst out laughing.

I gathered myself after a few seconds and looked at him. Mateo Hernandez really called a 17-year-old teenage girl scary. Wow. Someone not even half his build or height.

"What's funny? She's intimidating," he defended and I shook my head disagreeing.

"You're intimidating, not Cassandra," I replied leaning back on the sink.

"Oh really, people find me intimidating?" he asked in a slightly lower tone as he stood, slowly walking to me.

I nodded in response. He hummed as he neared my trapped figure while maintaining eye contact.

"Do you find me intimidating?" he questioned trapping me between his arms and the sink.

He stood in front of me with each of his arms on either side of me. He leaned in a little so we were at eye level, his face mere inches away from mine. We were almost breathing the same air.

"No," I answered, my voice barely above a whisper as my gaze dropped to his full pink lips.

"Good, there's nothing to be afraid of," he said and moved past me to wash his hands.

I watched as he grabbed a kitchen towel to dry his hands before picking up the file and reading through it as if nothing happened.

"Nadia, I'm- Oh. Good afternoon Mr Hernandez. Nadia, I'm leaving. I'll call you later," Jess greeted as she walked into the kitchen.

She gave me a side hug and I walked her to the door.

"Don't think you got away with the Chris thing. I'll get my answers," I warned as I glared at her before opening the door.

Speaking of the devil.

"Hey Nadia," He hollered from down the steps and I greeted him back as I watched Jessica climb into the car before they drove off.

I walked back into the kitchen and saw Mateo in the same place I left him. Still reading through the papers.

I removed my apron and hung it on the small hook behind the pantry door. I picked up a cappuccino cupcake and bit into it, sighing deeply with delight. They tasted perfect.

I felt Mateo staring at me so I looked at him to confirm my suspicions. He was looking up at me with dark eyes that held a dangerous look in them.

He cleared his throat and closed the file.

"I'll see you on Monday, don't be late," he stated and left in a hurry. I didn't even have time to say bye.

Cassandra must have heard him leaving because she retreated from her room and just said

"Yeah, he's definitely going to fall head over heels for you. He's handsome too," she sighed dreamily and took another cupcake to her room.
