People are supposed to fear the unknown, but ignorance is bliss when knowledge is so damn frightening. - Laurell K. Hamilton, The Laughing Corpse (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #2)

That Same Night...

Zee...

I watch at the door as Lisa drives off with the twins. I hate to see them go, but ain't no telling what's going to pop off tonight. So it's best they go with Lisa so they'll be safe. I close and lock the door, traveling up the steps to the bedroom. Bricks and I are waiting on my Connor, Cornelius, my father and Scrapp. I lean on the door frame, watching Bricks lace his Timb's.

Of course he's mad at me for looking through the shit, but completely understands because we have kids. Their safety is far more important than ours.

"You ready?" I question him. He nods, following me down the stairs to the back door. Ricco and Kirk are still out by the basement doors, guarding them. They hand both Bricks and I a flashlight and we enter the basement. Bricks holds onto my hand as we enter the room where the caskets are. I laugh shaking my head.

"Why are you holding onto my hand Bricks? Let go." I whine, trying to shake from his grip.

"Fuck no! We in a room with dead people I ain't letting go shit!" He defines. I hit his arm screw face.

"The dead can hear you, respect my grandfathers." I tell him with furrowed brows.

"They can't hear shit, they dead!" He exclaims.

"So then why you scared to be in here, if you know they're dead and can't do anything?" I question with pursed lips.

"Because I saw Thriller! Plus I'm black! We don't do no shit like this b! I'm from New York, the only crazy thing we see in the city are crazy homeless people and rats. Not no damn caskets and graveyards." I burst into laughter because he's highly upset and scared.

"It's graveyards in New York baby." I reassure him in slight laughter.

"Yea, but they ain't in the city. In the south it's like you see them jawns, every mile. It's depressing. And I ain't never been this close to a dead person." He clarifies with assurance. I nod in understanding as we hear something crack behind us.

"Oh HEll naw! Bye!" Bricks tries to leave as I sigh, grabbing him by his shirt. We hear something fall to the cold concrete, and I witness my ring fell. Bricks and I look at each other and I pout in innocence. He smacks his lips, using the flashlight to guide his sight.

"Why you got a casket in here, and you still breathing?" He questions, bent over. I laugh and hunch my shoulders, pinching his butt cheek making him jump and almost knock over the casket. I burst into laughter as he catches his balance.

"Stop fucking playing!" He argues, screw face.

"What chu thought a ghost tried to cop a field?" I question in a fit of laughter, holding my chest. He straight faces me, clenching is back teeth.

"I love how you find this shit funny, and we in a basement full of dead people." He dryly states.

"I'm sorry. You know I get my foolishness from my daddy. Sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying." I tell him, hugging him sideways around his torso. He smacks his lips, passing me my ring and I take it, putting back on my finger, admiring it. I smiled to myself thinking how he proposed to me in Tahiti. Best day of my life.

"Aight fake Tyler Perry, look." He says pointing to the casket. I avert my attention to it, putting the light on the gold plaque with my name on it.

"My name is spelled wrong, I know. It's Z-e when it should be Z-e-e." I explain. Bricks shakes his head no.

"You didn't notice that dirt spot right there?" He questions pointing to it. I furrow my eyebrows shaking my head no. He dusts it off, traveling the letters z-e-m-y-n-a.

"Zemyna?" Bricks and I question in unison.

"Zemyna, originally pronoun zuh-MEE-nah. But I changed the pronunciation to Za-MEE-Nah. It means, "earth" or "mother of the soil," and also "bloomer". I knew you would be someone special one day. I'm just glad I was able to witness the greatness before it was too late." My father smiles.

"So her same isn't Zee?" Bricks questions.

"Fuck no! Her stupid mother had to hide her identity so they wouldn't take Zee from her. I wasn't there when she was born, but I told my mother that's what I wanted Zee's name to be. Viola might have took my children from me, but she wasn't taking my right to name them." I could feel the tears in my eyes, shaking my head. My whole life has been a lie and the fact that my father knew and couldn't tell me for protection, hurts. But I understand.

"Daddy do you know who did this all of this?" I question.

"Tacony Miles." Cornelius says. My father smacks his lips.

"I could of swore she said daddy." He confirms dryly.

"Well we all know, you ain't her only daddy. Ain't that right Bricks?" Cornelius chuckles, hitting Bricks in his arm. Bricks shakes his head no, as in this is the not the time.

"And you about to be one." I mumble under my breath, rolling my eyes.

"What!" Cornelius questions for me to repeat.

"Nothing. Tacony Miles who is he?" He looks at me suspiciously, raising a brow.

"He was your mother's side nigga, born into a Jamaican Mafia in June 1952. His parents were the baddest mafia in Jamaica. Mafuckas was scared to walk on their block. Apparently, Tacony had to be brought over here when he was 8 for his grandparents to raise him. His parents had to flee the country. His grandparents raised him to be a savage just like his parents. Nigga had six murders on his hands before he turned 18. In his adult years, he met Viola at a bar. They fell in love instantly but they couldn't be because well she was with Knight, married already with four kids. Five because you were still roasting in the oven. Around that time, Viola had to disappear because she set up Knight. Then ya ugly ass was born." Cornelius burst into laughter as we all straight face him. My dad mimics his laughter, slapping him upside his head making him stop and hiss.

"My wife was never ugly though nigga." Bricks tells him, pulling me closer. Cornelius rubs the spot, side eyeing my father. I couldn't help but to laugh.

"I was only playing, damn. Anyway, Tacony bought this house and Viola basically became his little pet. Learning the ropes of the Mafia and doing any and everything that nigga requested. Bank and house hobberies, murders you name it. They had two kids, Ryan and Lia the year of 1996. The twins of course. Viola trained them just like she trained the other four kids. Then when she almost got caught up with him, guess what she did?" Cornelius questions with a 'girl guess what happen!' face.

"She set him up." We all say in unison, shaking our heads after. Of course she would set him up, she set up my father, and probably would of set up Dimitri if she didn't kill him first.

"Ok so the money that Xavier tried to give me when he died. Was that a set up too?" I question.

"Hell yea. Connor and I came to conclusion that Xavier was working with Viola. Viola was the one that sent X to steal those diamonds from us. Adrese didn't know what was going on, so we couldn't hold him accountable for it. He was just a nigga chasing after bread. Hungry like the rest of us. But yea, X got paid for stealing from us. That 3.5 mill was given to him by Viola and she wrote down I.O.U for record of how much she owed Tacony back. But she told him it was money that the people owed him. She never told him it was her who owed him." Cornelius breaks down.

"Viola was a-" I get cut off.

"She a dutty lossaz! A bitch wit a renk punnai." A man laughs, entering the basement with a crew of men behind him. They're all dressed in black, some with Jamaican flags around they're necks. Ryan and Lia right with them.

(Incase you can't see it. Tacony in the guy all the way at the top in the middle.)

Lia and Ryan...🙄

Connor and Scrapp walk in telling us it's cool. He's on our side. We all nod in understanding.

"I just came to get my shit. I sent my daughters to come get it, but it seems like they can't be civilized and have to do shot the wrong way. Just like their dumb ass mother." Tacony says.

"This casket of cocaine yours too or?" I hit my dad in his arm screw face. He rubs the spot, smacking his lips.

"Don't start you're not suppose to be near drugs remember." I remind him.

"Man fuck my PO." Everyone laughs as I shake my head, averting my attention to Tacony and his crew. A young guy opens the casket, opening the duffle bag and I couldn't help but stare. I mean I usually don't find guys with dreads attractive but damn.

Clinton

"Clinton make sure you grab everything out that casket." Tacony orders him. He nods, doing as told.

"I'm confused. How are yall out?" Bricks questions the twins.

"Snitched on Viola." The whole crew says. Damn, everybody really hates Viola I see.

"If y'all are done, I need to get the guns and weed out that casket so can y'all leave." He orders.

"Nigga thi-" I pop Bricks in the mouth screw face. I done told his ass about his mouth. The man don't want no trouble he just wants his shit, I ain't trynna die. We excuse ourselves, leaving out as I look back for my dad.

"Jr, where is daddy?" I question.

"Trynna buy weed." He chuckles.

"Daddy! bring ya ass on here!" I tell him, walking back into the basement. He smacks his lips, handing him one of the guys the bag of weed back. He's been clean of drugs for 25 years. I don't know why he trynna get into that shit again.

"Zee wait!" One of the twins call. I roll my eyes, sighing as I turn on my heel. Ryan and Lia approach me, as I crossed my arms upset. They were in my face for three years, laughing and giggling and the bitches were my sisters, trying to kill me.

"What?" I retort in anger.

"Look we know you hate us." Ryan says.

"Hate! Hate! You think I just hate y'all! I fucking despise y'all asses! Y'all were in my face, laughing and giggling like no fucking tomorrow! And in those three years, y'all lied about who you were! Watching me! Then y'all disappeared out of no fucking where and Piper and I got worried. We called and everything. Around the time I found out about y'all mother, y'all disappear, just like that! Why!"

"Because she said we were getting to close to you, and that we were forgetting the plan." Lia mumbles, looking down in the grass.

"What the fuck is wrong with her?! She tried to kill me, kept us all apart, and y'all stuck around. Why? Because you were scared of her? She wasn't going to kill you, if you noticed she always got someone to do her dirty work. She got y'all to kill Dimitri! And some one else to kill Papa Green and Papa Dubois. Y'all could of left, there was no excuse!" I exclaim as tears stream my cheeks. Ryan and Lia both look down at the ground, wiping tears. I don't even care about those crocodile tears. They don't phase me.

"Ryan and Lia, let's go." Tacony orders.

"Yes daddy." They say in unison, walking off. Tacony walks towards me with a thick envelope, telling me thank you and walking off. I furrow my eyebrows seeing two gold plates and a thick stack of money. I look up to see everybody is gone, now. No where in sight.

"What the hell is this for?"

°°₩°°

"Ok Lisa I really appreciate it. I'll pick the babies up a little later on my way to their photoshoot. Ok, I love you too. Bye." I hang up with Lisa since she said she'd keep the babies for tonight. Its three in the morning, and I can't sleep because my mind is racing. Also it's too damn quiet.

"999,999. $1 million dollars!" Bricks exclaims as he counts the money for the third time. I roll my eyes, falling stomach first on the bed.

"You were born rich Bricks, you shouldn't be excited about 1 million damn dollars." I dryly state.

"What! I was born broke! My father and mother were born rich. Shidddddddd." I laugh shaking my head as he throws some money in the air.

"Come on its raining, you spose to throw that ass in a circle." He tells me, slapping one cheek. He grabs it, making me laugh and shake my head.

"Come on! I'm throwing money and you not even bouncing that ass for this cash!" He groans slapping my ass again.

"I got two kids, I gotta respect myself now." I mumble.

"What!" I burst in laughter as he chuckles, laying beside me on the bed.

"I know you ain't just tried to pull that, I got kids card. You know how many single mothers, work hard for their kids at a strip club." I rest my head in my hand, playing with his beard.

"Notice you said single mothers though." I giggle.

"Exactly. That's what you about to be, since you won't twerk for your man." My jaw drops as he laughs, kissing my jawline.

"I'm playing baby. I'm glad you looking at yourself like the queen you were meant to be though. I'm proud of you." I smile as he peck my lips a couple times, pulling me on top of him. As we kiss, he puts his hands on my ass. I twerk for him as we both laugh into the kiss, pulling back.

"Aye, aye, twerk that ass bae." I burst into laughter as he laughs, throwing a stack on my butt.

"You get on my nerves." I laugh, kissing him again and pulling back.

"You love me though."

"I do I do I dooo-oo!" We both burst in laughter, as I climb off him going in to the bathroom.

"You crazy. I'm going to bed, I got work in the morning. But aye, what are we going to do with those bodies in that cellular?" He questions. I put my hair into Flexi-Rods, hunching my shoulders.

"Honestly, I don't know baby. I know Connor, Cornelius and my dad said they're going to look into a cemetery. My dad was talking about burring his father at the house he just bought in Honduras. Next to his mother." I explain.

"Damn why all the way over there?"

"Because that's where his parents are from. He bought the house he grew up in over there."

"Word?"

"Yep." I chuckle, turning the light off. I put my bonnet on, cracking the bedroom door, climbing into bed with Bricks.

"Damn so you got a little Honduran in you huh?" He chuckles. I laugh and nod.

"That's explains my temper. I'm surprise I haven't brung a knife out on you yet." Bricks pushes me off him, rolling over and I laugh hysterically.

"Baby I'm just playing." I chuckle, wrapping my arm around him. I sit up, kissing his ear making him laugh and shoo me off.

"Come on man! Shit tickles." He chuckles.

"Than give me a kiss and cuddle me!" I whine. He huffs in annoyance, turning over doing as told. We peck lips twice, pulling back.

"I love you." I tell him.

"I love you too."
