"Yes, I really like that design."

"What about swapping the fabric?"

Laughter was erupting from the kitchen as Adrien stepped into the house. He recognized Y/N's laugh and smiled to himself. It felt like all his stress melted away at the sound of her.

She was talking with Natalie. Mugs were in front of the two of them and the stem of the tea bags was hanging out the sides.

Natalie had different fabrics on the counter and one of Adrien's dad's design books on top.

The blonde boy watched for a few moments. He watched the way Y/N brushed the hair away from her face, and the way she covered her mouth when she laughed. It was the little things he noticed about her which made him realize just how special she was.

"Adrien, you're back already?" Natalie's voice cut through Adrien's thoughts, bringing him back to reality.

Y/N spun around the moment she heard his name and grinned at him.

Adrien cleared his throat and stepped closer to where the two girls were sitting, "It was a quick shoot."

"Did it go well?" Natalie asked, curiously pushing her glasses higher up on the bridge of her nose.

Adrien nodded his head and leaned his hands up against the back of Y/Ns chair. He put on a smile and briefly explained the events of the photoshoot. He purposely left out the fact that a woman came up to him and asked him for his number.

He decided he would mention it later, it wasn't exactly something Natalie needed to know.

"Can we.. talk?" Adrien gestured towards upstairs and Y/N nodded her head. They both said goodbye to Natalie and headed towards Adrien's room.

Adrien immediately shut the door behind them and engulfed Y/N in a tight hug. He leaned down to hold her and sighed against her shoulder.

Y/N didn't say anything. She just wrapped her arms around his neck and let him hold her.

His warm breath fanned against her bare skin and she held him tighter.

"What's wrong?"

Her voice was a mere whisper and he almost thought that he imagined her saying it.

"Am I a failure?"

Adrien sighed, mumbling into her skin that smelled of strawberries.

"What?" Y/N pulled him away, cradling either side of his head with her hands.

"Who told you that?"

His eyes were sad and he looked away, leaning into the palm of her hand.

"Adrien..." She started, caressing his soft hair between her finger tips- "you're not a disappointment."

"My father thinks I am."

"Your father is wrong."

Adrien stood up straight and moved to the edge of his bed. He sat down and brushed away the strands of blonde hair in his face.

"I've never been enough. Every since my mother died, it's always been expectation after expectation."

Y/N sat next to him, placing one hand on his back and rubbed it in circles. She listened carefully, worried for the next words to leave his lips.

"You know, I can't remember much of my father. All I remember when I think of him, is the way he would look at my mother." He laughed- "and I always thought that he would care more about me when she died."

Y/N stopped rubbing his back and grabbed his hand as Adrien said, "but he didn't. I have a father but I never had a dad."

A million thoughts were running through Adrien's head at that moment, but they all went quiet when Y/N grabbed his hand. Her soft touch sent a chill down his spine and he melted into her.

Her brown eyes gazed into his green ones and everything stilled.

"You'll never be happy if you keep trying to find your happiness in others."

She stopped and poked his chest, "Adrien, your happiness lives within you. You just need to uncover it." - "I know that sounds stupid and cliche, but-"

Adrien cut her off by kissing her soft lips.

He ran a hand through her hair and pulled away, keeping his hand on the back of her head.

Their foreheads touched and Adrien smiled, "you're my happiness."
