Leo pulled his wallet out of his pocket and threw a £20 note on the table.

"Let's go." His voice was emotionless as he quickly stood from his seat, leaving the cafe as fast as he could.

I sat there, my brain trying to comprehend what the hell had just happened in the past 5 minutes.

Either Jack didn't know why he brother was in jail, or he did and was completely ignorant to it.

Both would explain why Leo looked so uncomfortable when his Uncle started talking to us.

I gathered my thoughts, grabbing both hoodies from beside me and following Leo outside.

He was already in his car when I got there, loud music blasting out from the speakers. Leo's mood had done a full 360.

I wanted to ask if he was ok, but I didn't know whether I had crossed a line with him too.

Damn, I seemed to be fucking up every relationship I had these days.

As I slid into the passenger side, I chucked the hoodies into the back seats and kept my eyes fixed on the road ahead.

My hands sat in my lap, my fingers twiddling around with each other as I didn't know what to say or do.

Leo seemed to be the same. He didn't attempt to start the car and drive off, just sat staring straight ahead.

Suddenly, Leo switched off the music, his hands rubbing his face as he sighed deeply.

"He doesn't know. No one apart from my Mum and you know why my Dad is really in jail."

My suspicions were correct.

I faced him, trying to figure out what he was feeling.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to just jump straight to the girlfriend card. I crossed a line." I apologised, hoping he wasn't angry at me for that.

Leo laughed lightly "I'm not angry at you. It made me super fucking happy for you to refer to yourself as my girlfriend. I just didn't want him to know that."

Phew. Ok. He wasn't mad at me. It still made me wonder why he didn't want his Uncle to know why he had a girlfriend.

"As you can probably tell, Jack still talks to my Dad. I don't know how often, but I don't really want him knowing personal stuff about me, because I know he'll tell my Dad. The less that prick knows about me, the better."

I completely understood. I don't think Leo wanted to admit it, but I think he was still scared of his Dad. Even though it had been years, and Leo wasn't the same little boy that his Dad abused, no one knows what to expect if Leo ever faced him again.

"Wanna go somewhere?" I changed the subject, feeling that Leo probably didn't want to talk about it anymore.

Leo's mood sobered up slightly, nodding his head and clearing his throat before starting the engine.

"Where to?" He asked, tucking some loose strands of his hair behind his ear.

I hadn't thought that far, I had no idea where to suggest to go. The only places I really hung around in was home, school and ballet practice.

"Actually, I know where to go."

Leo went with his idea, immediately taking off out the car park and joining onto the main road.

"Are you gonna tell me?" I asked, he gave no indication of telling me where we were going and it was bugging me.

"Na, you'll find out soon enough." He smirked and part of me was also worried. Where the hell were we going.

Instead of driving in silence, Leo began to play music in the car but it wasn't as loud as before.

I didn't recognise the music, but it was similar to the stuff that I listened too so I didn't mind it.

After some 20 minutes of driving, we found ourselves way out of town on an industrial estate. From what I could see, is was deserted.

"Why are we here?"

Leo didn't say anything as I followed him out the car. He headed into the closest building, going straight to the rusted door.

It opened with a loud creak and Leo held out his hand for me to take.

Sceptical, I timidly took his hand and he pulled me inside.

We were inside an abandoned warehouse, random bits of machinery gathering dust and dirt where they haven't been used.

Despite practically everything being covered in a thick layer of muck, we made out way to a rather clean, open area.

There were a couple of beer bottles scattered close by, littering the concrete floor.

"You know this place?" I asked, my eyes scanning around more, noting the shattered windows which caused a small breeze to blow through.

Leo let go of my hand, moving onto the open space, holding his hands out at his sides as if to gesture to world around him.

"This," Leo said with a smile "Is my other, other dance studio."

Really? Leo dances here?

It was extremely impractical for dancing since the floor was dirty and uneven. The space was big, but I had no idea how he thought that it was a good idea to practice here.

"You wanna dance now?" I didn't want to say no straight away, but I wasn't exactly thrilled about it.

"Why not?"

Leo pressed some buttons on his phone and after a few moments, the song played that we were dancing too.

Placing it on the floor out the way, Leo held out his hand to me.

I still shouldn't really be dancing since my leg was still healing but the look in his eyes made me want to please him. Leo needed a distraction from earlier and I was more than happy to give it to him.

Our hands connected and Leo instantly pulled me towards him, our bodies gently hitting into each other and I instantly felt warm inside from the closeness.

We ended up dancing for like an hour, not even doing our routine, just letting ourselves move to the music that continued to play.

I could tell Leo's mood had instantly changed, he was a lot more relaxed and comfortable than he was before.

And I was glad that I could give that to him.
