Emily's POV

"Jack stop it." I groaned for the fifth time. Jack was throwing pillows at me because I wouldn't watch Stranger things with him. I had to catch up with my homework if I wanted to get a good grade.

"Come on, homework isn't that important." Jack was laying on my bed, being annoying as ever.

"You are a bad influence. I've been slacking on my homework ever since I started hanging out with you."

"You can do homework later."

"No." I was getting irritated, "You should do your essays too."

"I'll pass the class without doing homework." Jack sounded confident and I snorted. Was he serious?

"What?"

"Nothing." I muttered and tried to understand why methanol was liquid at room temperature.

"You're moody." Jack commented but I ignored his remark.

"What do your parents think about you failing your classes?"

"They don't care."

I turned to look at him, "They don't care?"

"Well.." Jack stretched his neck, "They cared, but I don't think they do anymore."

"Oh." I wanted to ask more about his parents but I didn't dare.

"If I do one assignment you will watch one episode with me?" Jack offered. The deal sounded appealing but I knew how he did his assignments. He didn't even try to put effort in them.

"Why don't you call your other  friends?" I said and emphasized the word 'other'.

"I'd rather hang out with you." Jack said and I tried to hide my smile, "When are we going on another date by the way?"

I felt butterflies in my stomach. Why was he being so cute?

"Em?" Jack threw another pillow at me.

"I swear if you throw another pillow I will-"

"You will what?" Jack sounded interested.

"I will kick your ass."

Jack chuckled, "I'm scared."

"You never answered my question." Jack said when he realized I was trying to end the conversation and go back to my homework. "When are we going on another date?"

"It was not a date." I said. We had had this same argument last night.

"I disagree."

"Okay?"

"Did John ever take you out on dates?"

The question threw me off a bit, "Yeah a couple of times.. why do you ask?"

"I was just wondering."

"Do you know why methanol is liquid at room temperature?" I changed the subject and hoped he could help me.

"What's the best date you've ever been on?" Jack asked. Why was he so interested in my previous dates?

"Um.." I felt awkward talking to him about my ex boyfriend, "John took me to a beach nearby and we had a nice little picnic there."

"Mmh.. that's fucking boring."

"Excuse me?"

"I said that's boring." He repeated. I had heard him correctly and I knew he had the right to think whatever he wanted but it wasn't his place to say that.

"Well I liked it very much." I told him, "We had so much fun there and deep conversations on the beach are superior."

"I think you're just trying to pretend like it was the best thing ever." Jack shrugged, "Dates are fun if activities are involved."

"Yea like eating at a restaurant is an activity?" I snorted.

"But you said it was not a date?" Jack smirked and I felt like throwing a pillow at him for a change.

"Well yea but..."

"So you thought it was a date as well?"

"No, but you've had so many dates at a restaurant."

"Well who said I enjoyed them?"

"Why else would you bother going there?"

Jack raised his eyebrows and smirked.

"Oh." I understood now. He just wanted to get laid. "You're unbelievable."

Jack bursted out laughing and I shook my head disapprovingly even tho I did find it a bit amusing.

"Can you leave me alone I need to concentrate now."

"Did you have fun yesterday?"

Why was he acting like this? I was so confused.

"Yeah, I think we had a good time."

Jack stayed quiet so I asked him the same, "What about you?"

"Mmh sure. I've had better dates."

I turned around and saw Jack grinning on my bed.

"I hate you." I shook my head, "That's not the way to get me to come with you again."

"We'll see we'll see." Jack said and changed the subject for the tenth time, "So you won't watch Netflix with me?"

"Maybe in two hours."

"Fine." Jack grunted and exited my room finally.

Now that he was gone I had the perfect opportunity to focus on my homework but I just kept thinking about last night and how our "date" had gone. Besides our argument I really did have a good time. Jack would get so full of himself if he knew I was thinking about last night. I still couldn't wrap my head around the fact that the school's biggest asshole wanted to spend time with me. Now that I had gotten to know him I understood why girls fell for him and why they wanted to hang out with him. I had noticed that he was pretty chill and fun to be around with. At least every once in a while.

- - -

"Could you guys be any louder?" I stormed out of my room. I couldn't concentrate anymore because I heard yelling from the living room. I saw Nick, Tristan and Jack playing Fifa, again. Why did they always hang out here?

None of them replied, they were too focused on the game and cussing at each other.

"Hey?" I stepped in front of the television and immediately got a reaction out of them.

"Emily!" Nick groaned loudly.

"Move Em we can't see shit." Jack tried to see the screen.

"Actually stay there so Jack can't see and I can win." Tristan said and Jack gave him a glare.

"No fuck no!" Jack dropped his console as the game ended, "Em!" He suddenly got up and walked towards me.

"Sorry!" I backed laughing, "I couldn't concentrate because you were being too loud!"

"I don't care!" He was trying not to laugh as he came closer and closer to me.

"I'm sorry okay!"

"You owe me." Jack shook his head.

"That doesn't make any sense. I don't owe you anything." I chuckled and pushed him back to the couch.

"Come play with us." Tristan tried to hand me his remote.

"I need to focus on my chemistry assignment." I declined even though it sounded tempting to do something else.

"Oh I've done it already." Nick commented from the couch.

"Do you mind telling me the right answers then?"

"Hell no, that was hard as fuck."

"Nick come on." I pleaded him.

"Stay strong Nick, don't give her the answers." Jack padded Nick's back.

"Jack!"

"What? You shouldn't copy someone else's homework."

"Says the one who never even does them." I snorted and turned back to Nick, "Well?"

"Sorry Em." Nick shrugged and grinned at Jack.

"Jack you're an ass." I rolled my eyes.

"Guys I think she's on her period." Jack said and his friends grinned. I felt like breaking his console.

"That doesn't make any sense Jack."

"Why else would you be so moody?"

"I am not being moody. You can't just assume girls are on their period if they snap at you."

"So you two were on a date yesterday huh?" Nick changed the topic before Jack could even answer me.

"Jack!" So he had been telling his friends we were on a date?

"What? We were on a date." He shrugged like it was no big deal.

"No we weren't." I rolled my eyes and sat down next to Tristan, "We just went to eat dinner and that's it." I explained and they turned to look at Jack.

"Believe me, we were on a date. I even paid for the food."

"You paid for the food because you lost the bet!" He was annoying me on purpose. "I see you as a friend, I can't help it." I shrugged. That was a total lie but in my opinion it sounded very convincing.

"That's bullshit." Jack snorted. At this point Nick and Tristan had continued playing the game and they clearly weren't interested in another argument of ours.

"No it's not. I think you are a good fri-" I started but suddenly Jack picked me up and I shrieked.

"I dare you to finish that sentence." He threw me over his shoulder and carried me to his room.

"Let me down." I tried to wiggle myself free but he had a tight grip on me.

Jack laid me down on his bed and stared at me with a serious look.

"Here's what you get for calling me a friend." Jack poked my sides and I shrieked, taking a hold of his hands.

"Jack you've got to stop tickling me." I warned him but it looked like he took it as a challenge.

"And you've got to stop calling me a friend." Jack hovered over me and I felt intimidated.

"What do you want me to say then? Mate? Bro? Pal? Budd-" I laughed as his hands found a way to my sides again.

"Stop playing with me Em." Jack chuckled and tickled me even more.

I tried kicking him but ended up kicking my foot on the corner of his nightstand. I felt how my eyesight went black for a few seconds and I felt like screaming from the pain.

"Ow." I groaned in pain and Jack stopped tickling me immediately.

"Did it hurt?" He asked and took my foot gently in his hands.

I shook my head and felt my eyes tearing up.

"Yes it did, I'm not stupid."

"Maybe just a bit." I whispered.

"We should put ice to it don't you think?"

"No, it's better already." I assured him and tried to get up. My toes still hurt so I sat back down.

"It's better huh?" Jack mocked me with a small smile.

"It's seriously not that bad." I sighed, "I just a need a sec."

"I'm sorry I shouldn't have tickled you." He sat down next to me.

"Maybe you had to learn the hard way to not tickle me anymore." I chuckled.

"I can't promise you anything." He shrugged and I sighed.

"I think you owe me something now." I rested my head on his shoulder.

"What do you want me to do?"

"Can you convince Nick to give me the answers?" I said quietly.

"I'll try my best."

"I can play one game with you and then I'll finish my school work?" I suggested. I didn't feel like sitting in front of my laptop right now.

"Sure," Jack smiled, "I'll beat your ass tho."

"Yeah we'll see." I challenged him as we walked back to the living room. "I'll just drink water first." I noticed that my foot still hurt a bit when I walked.

"Where did you take her yesterday Jack?" I heard Tristan ask.

"We went to the Blue bird."

"Is there a girl who hasn't been there with you." Nick chuckled.

"Fuck off."

Ouch... I felt like I was just one of the many girls he had been with. It didn't feel too good knowing that everyone had been there with him. And that he had also dumped every girl after getting bored. Maybe that was gonna happen to me too. I didn't like the feeling of jealousy and I knew my expectations were too high. I knew he was just a fuckboy who was probably just waiting to use me.

I walked to the living room where the boys were waiting for me. "Em come here." Jack scooted over so I could sit next to him.

"I think I'm just gonna go do my homework after all."

"Huh why?" Jack furrowed his brows.

"I have to get it done." I said and went to my room. I heard Jack getting up and walking after me. He tried opening the door but I had locked it.

"Em? What's up?"

"Nothing, I just have to do this assignment."

"I'll convince Nick to give you the answers so you can finish it."

"No it's okay. I won't learn anything if I don't do it myself."

"Can you open the door?"

I really didn't wanna explain myself to him because I knew I had gotten upset over nothing. So what if he had taken every other girl there? It wasn't even a date so I shouldn't be thinking about it too much.

"I really have to concentrate on this," I said, "I'll play with you guys when I'm ready."

I heard Jack walking away without saying a word. Finally I could continue my school work. I noticed my phone lighting up: it was a text from Jack.

"hey what happened:("

The text made me smile a little but I couldn't help but to think this was all an act. I threw my phone on my bed making it almost bounce off to the floor.

- - -

"Did you finish it just now?" Jack asked as I walked to the kitchen. He was making a peanut butter toast. The apartment was quiet and the boys had apparently left.

"No I finished it like half an hour ago."

"You didn't come hang out with us."

"I called my parents." I hopped on the counter and started swinging my legs.

"Sorry I have to take a plate." Jack said and I moved my head so he could open the cabinet door. He was so close to me I could smell his cologne. I felt like wrapping my hands around him to feel his warmth. Instead I just stayed quiet and awkwardly stared at the floor.

"Why did you go back to your room? You were supposed to play with us." Jack stayed in front of me.

"I already-"

"And don't say because you had to finish the assignment."

I didn't know where to look but I felt him staring at me intensely.

"You didn't even answer my text."

"I heard what Nick said." I said quietly and heard Jack letting out a breath. "How you take every girl to that same restaurant."

"Oh."

"It just didn't feel nice hearing that." I said and Jack clearly didn't know what to say.

"Nick was just exaggerating." Jack told me and I finally looked at him, "You know I barely take girls on dates, we just fuck and that's it."

I inhaled sharply. Yeah that didn't feel good to hear either... Were boys so dumb that they didn't know how to word things? Or was he just trying to hurt me again?

"I shouldn't have said that." It was like he could read my mind, "But that's the truth. Plus it's a good restaurant and I just wanted to take you somewhere."

"Okay."

Jack moved his hand on my thighs. His hands were warm, I could feel them through the thin fabric of my pants.

"I'm sorry Em." He kept eye contact with me. It felt weird hearing those words come out of his mouth because usually he wouldn't admit his mistakes.

I gave him a small smile, "It's fine."

"Is that jealousy I hear? Are you jealous because there's other girls who have been there with me?"

I chuckled at his smug expression, "You wish."

"I do wish that." Jack didn't deny anything. I blushed and hopped down from the counter. I didn't know what to say or do. Luckily Jack saved the situation.

"I made you this." Jack handed me the peanut butter toast, "Let's watch our show now?"
