Chapter 6.

Jaxson
Ava and Bella are both gone by time I wake up. What she said last night upset me. But I can't even judge her, she's right. I haven't been in my daughters life her whole four years of existence. I don't even know if she is four yet.

Bella deserves so much more. She's too pure. I neglected my innocent daughter and when I woke up I couldn't stand myself for it.

I hate myself knowing that I let that little girl down. I know I can't solve anything unless I talk to Ava. She has her mind set that I'm here to hurt Bella. I can never hurt my own daughter. I'm not a monster.

I have no choice but to return to my fathers company. Everything looks as if he is still here and we aren't going bankrupt.

I get plenty of stares as I enter the elevator. I don't blame them, I am running their place of business into the ground.

I'm surprised to see Shawn once I get to the top floor. He's even more surprised to see me. He starts dying of laughter while following me into what was once my fathers office.

"You really weren't kidding when you said you were trying to save the company" He says sitting in the chair and putting his legs up on the desk.

I look around. Nothing in here has changed at all. I'm sure no one has entered this room since I left. I walk over to the large window and stare out.

When I was a kid I used to think you could see everything from here. I was so wrong. Traveling foreign countries these last few years have made me realize that there is so much more out there than New York.

But I can't deny I missed being home. Though I don't have any family left I still have friends like Shawn and John. Now I even have a daughter.

"Holy shit, Jaxson you're married?" Shawn says looking at papers he just picked up from the desk. I go and sit in my dads old chair.

"Well technically not really" I say. "Dude what is this?" He asks reading over the papers. "Before my dad passed he made a contract with the Hudsons for me to marry their daughter. I don't even know why" I tell him.

"You're married to Ava Hudson? She's so hot." he says. He isn't wrong. "Oh shit, I ain't mean to talk about your wife like that" he adds defending himself.

I laugh! "We aren't married for real. It's my first time seeing her in four years and before that I only knew her all of 30 minutes." I tell him.

"I would love to be married to her." he says. Wow, he really has a crush on the mother of my kid.

"You know her?" I ask him. "She used to come to every meeting your father had with her dad. He loved Ava, couldn't stand her father though."

"Why would he bring his daughter to a meeting? I thought my father only did business professionally." I ask confused.

If you didn't come to my father for business in a professional manner he'd automatically turn you down. He sighed "you really didn't work with your father often. Ava herself practically runs their company. Her dad can't do anything by himself. He needed her at those meetings. But let him tell it she's just an assistant. Mr. Ross knew that. That's why he scheduled all those meetings with them. He knew Ava would be at every one and he wanted to keep checking up on her. He thought something was off with her dad."

That's a lot of information to take in. I honestly was starting to think Ava was a stripper or prostitute.

Why else would she have come home late and with bruises as if she's been partying all night. Shit I'm so wrong. If she has that job maybe her and Bella weren't living off my money.

It doesn't even matter if they were. My dad taught me to take care of my responsibilities. Bella is one. I'd feel better knowing that at least I've been financially involved in her life.

"I wonder what she's up to now. I haven't seen her in a while." Shawn says. "She's living in my house" I tell him. His eyes widen "you live with her? You must be living the life right now" he says. I roll my eyes.

"She has a bad attitude" I tell him. "Ava? Attitude? Ha! Since when? She was always the sweetest person ever. No wonder your dad made that contract. Ava's wife material. She smart, funny, she can cook, and she's beautiful."

I roll my eyes. He just wants the women. "Shawn... we have a kid." I tell him. He looks at me confused "me and you don't have anything" he says laughing.

I chuckle "shut up! I mean me and Ava have a daughter" I tell him. His eyes really widen this time. "Since when? JAXSON YOU HAVE A KID?" he yells the last part.

I nod "we were supposed to have a kid it's in the contract. I just didn't know it actually happened." I tell him feeling guilty as hell.

"Wait so you didn't know about the kid the whole time you were gone?" I shake my head no. "Oh my god Jaxson... your dad would be so disappointed. You abounded that child for damn near four years."

Shawn himself is starting to sound disappointed. "I didn't know. Now that I know about her I want to start a relationship with Isabella but I can't, Ava doesn't trust me. She really thinks I'm here just to hurt my own daughter. Oh wait, I'm not even allowed to say she's my daughter" I say annoyed.

"Maybe you should actually sit down and talk to her Jaxson. The Ava I knew had reasoning behind everything. And while you're at it, ask her to save our company like she did hers" he says winking before leaving my dads office.
