As we walked in the mansion, all eyes fell on us. People herded toward us, encircling us. The noisy crowd was starting to invoke my claustrophobia.

Calix removed his arm from mine and placed his hand on my waist, pulling me closer to him. I leaned into him, his touch calming me down. The noisy crowd talked all at once to Calix, making it almost impossible for him to answer.

Suddenly the crowd was silenced by a man with a microphone. He looked like a man with money and power. He was white, with salt and peppered hair. He looked fairly young but the wrinkles and his grey hairs revealed otherwise.

"Hello everyone and thank you for coming to my 50th birthday party!" His words incited cheers and whistles from the crown. The man let out a soft chuckle in response. "My dear friends, family, and business associates, please enjoy yourselves tonight!" With that he walked around the room, a crowd surrounding him wherever he went.

The man made his way to us, the crowd following. He turned around and shooed the crowd away, making sure he was able to talk privately with us.

"Calix! How've you been! And who is this beautiful woman you've got with you tonight?" The man shot me a flirtatious wink.

"I've been just fine, this is Eleanor, my woman." The old man eyed me up and down with an interesting glint in his eyes. "You're a lucky man Calix, a very lucky man." The man said, shooting me a smile. He looked back at Calix and continued, "I need you to come to my office, I have some business to discuss with you. Alone."

Calix nodded his head and said "Go ahead to your office, I'll be right there." He grabbed me and pulled me close. He brought his lips to my ear and said "Don't talk to anyone, male or female it doesn't matter. Sit down and eat your food, I'll be back."

I nodded my head. "I want words Eleanor." I sighed and rolled my eyes. "Okay Calix, I won't talk to anyone, I'll sit and eat my food until you get back." He squinted his eyes and glared at me, not liking my attitude and left.

I sat down at our designated table and ate the food that was placed In front of me. "Hey, you're Calix's girl right? Eleanor?" I looked up to see a handsome young man who looked to be the same age as me. He had black hair and brown eyes, with a slender build.

I couldn't just Ignore him right? That'd be rude. But then again I promised Calix... Just a little conversation couldn't hurt right?

"Um yes I guess, why?" He pulled up a chair and sat next to me. "Oh, no reason In particular. I was just wondering what girl he wooed this week."

"I'm sorry did you say woo?" He looked at me in shock. "What? You didn't know? Last week it was Rachel, she's this beautiful white girl with long blonde hair and green eyes, but I guess he got bored of her." His words made me feel sick. Was that true? He was spending his time with women and not working? Did he really lie to me?

"Anyways never mind that, did he just leave you here alone?" I nodded my head slowly in response, still shocked by his previous words. "Well why don't you come and dance with me then?" He got up and held his hand out for me to grab.

I hesitantly put my hand into his, guilt starting to creep in. "Don't worry, I'm sure Calix won't mind, he's probably with another girl right now anyways" I felt anger boiling within me and stood up, grasping the mans hand firmly.

He pulled me on to the dance floor, grabbing my waist and holding me close as we moved to the rhythm of the music. His hands started to creep lower and lower to where they shouldn't be.

I saw Calix from the corner of my eye, talking to the beautiful Rachel that the man dancing with me had described. I felt the jealousy consuming me and looked back at the man. "Excuse me but you didn't tell me your name?"

He gave me a charming smile and said "Edward, nice to meet you" I grabbed his face and kissed him, at first he was shocked but eventually kissed me back ferociously.

I felt no sparks or tingles but instead, anger, jealousy, and spite. All for Calix. I closed my eyes and embraced Edwards touch, hoping Calix would see.
