Leah

Alcohol and Leah do not make a good mix.

The moment I sat up in bed my whole world started to spin. I held my head in my hands hoping it would stop. "Ugh." I groaned.

How do people do this?

A loud snore erupted startling me. I took the pillow next to me and smack Kayla in the face. She is the reason I'm in misery.

She just turned on her side and continued sleeping. Acting like my torture attempt never happened.

I stood up from my bed slowly and waited until the room stopped spinning before heading to the bathroom.

I glanced in the mirror to see my make up smeared slightly and my hair in a mess.

I splashed some water against my face. Memories started to flash in my mind.

I was taken back to one specific moment from last night.

I exhaustedly dropped Kayla onto my bed. She face planted forward. Not exactly gracefully either. I'm sure if she was conscious she would be in pain,

I removed her heels and toss them to the side of the room and covered her with a blanket on my bed. She was out before we entered my room. And what a struggle that was.

Thank god my mom wasn't home. She definitely would have heard of my failed attempts of getting Kayla up the stairs.

Yes, I did drag her up the steps.

You try carrying someone who is dead weight.

I sat down on my desk chair and removed my heels. My feet were so happy to be let free. Whoever created heels, shame on you. I don't know how I made it through the night with these things.

I grabbed a hair tie off my desk and tied my hair in a ponytail getting all the hair out of my face.

I was just about to grab some clothes to change into when I heard rustling by my window. I glanced out to see a dark figure.

Scared, I grabbed the nearest thing as a weapon. Unfortunately for me it was teddy bear.

I should really get a baseball bat.

Damn, I'm gonna die. I don't want to die yet! I have so much more life to experience!

Maybe Kayla's snoring will scare them away. Yes her snoring was scary. A girl could only hope.

The figure got closer into the moonlight and I recognized who it was.

I opened the window to let the person in.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

"Now isn't the polite thing to invite people in before questions?" Jace teased.

Rolling my eyes, I stepped to the side to let him in.

He jumped through the window landing on his feet gracefully.

"Now, what are you doing here?" I asked with my arms crossed against my chest. "Do you alway sneak into girl's room in the middle of the night?"

Jace leaned against the window frame. "Only the pretty ones." He winked and I rolled my eyes "I just wanted to check in to make sure you got home safely."

"You could have texted."

Jace quirked an eyebrow. "I could have. Thought that this was better. Isn't in person better?"

"Mhm." I said turning my attention back to finding clothing. "I guess."

Jace grabbed my arm causing me to turn around to face him. "Are you upset?" The moonlight shone behind him. His eyes looking straight at me.

"I was worried about you." I told him truthfully. "Jace, what are you doing? What is your plan?"

I have yet to know what is going on. I'm totally out of the loop.

Jace released my arm. "Why are you asking?"

"Seriously?" I whispered yelled careful not to wake Kayla up.

"Jace, I know you are not just working for Dominic. If I learned anything about you, I know you have something planned for him. What is it?"

He looked out the window. "I can't tell you. You're already too involved. The more you sink into this world, the harder it is to get out. This is as far as you can get."

"No, you don't get to do that." I told him. His eyes reverted back to me. "I think you forgot that my dad was some how involved with Dominic. I need answers too."

"You'll get your answers. Just trust me."

I shook my head. "Why do I have a feeling you keep getting deeper and deeper into his world?"

Jace stayed silent. "If that's what I have to do to get answers, I'll do it."

I grabbed his hand and held it. "Don't lose yourself, Jace."

"A little too late, huh?" He said with a small smile.

"Never." I returned his smile.

He tugged on my hand to bring me closer. I felt my heart quickened from our closeness.

"New dress?" He asked.

"Courtesy of Kayla." I told him.

"Well tell her I said thank you."

"Why?" I asked.

"Because you look so damn good in it." He complimented.

I felt a deep blush set on my cheeks. Just can't tell if he playing his mind games.

"Now I can't tell if you're serious or just messing around." I told him.

"Why would you think that?"

"Have you met you?" I teased.

"I have. I think I'm pretty amazing." He said confidently.

I rolled my eyes. "Go home."

A loud snore startled the both of us. Kayla some how ended up at the opposite side of the bed, with her butt up in the air.

Jace and I chuckled.

"Well at least let me go through the front door."

"You know if I wasn't a nice person, I would let you go through the window again."

"You? Nice?" He teased as we walked down the steps.

I opened up the front door and gestured for him to leave. "And that's exactly why I'm kicking you out."

A mischievous smirk landed on his lips. "Think you can get rid of me so easily?"

"Mhm." I said thoughtfully for a brief moment. "Very much so."

Jace took a step towards me.

I took a step back causing my back to hit the door. He placed a hand against the door blocking my path.

His darkened eyes flashed down to my lips and back to my eyes. His other hand caressed my check slightly, his fingertips brush across my bottom lip softly.

A small shiver ran down my body from his touch.

"Too bad I'm not going anywhere." His voice came out husky.

Out of habit, I bit my bottom lip. I just don't know if what he says is reality sometimes.

"Don't do that." He warned his eye trained on my lips.

"Why?" I asked. My voice coming out as a whisper.

"You don't want to know."

A sense of excitement filled my chest.

I want to know. Some part of me wants to know.

Just as that excitement came, it left as soon as he took a step back.

"Good night, Leah." He said giving me a mischievous smile.

He loves to play this game.

Too bad for him, I can play it ten times harder.

"Good night, Jace." I said as he walked down the pathway.

I scrubbed my face clear of my makeup from last night. Sometimes, I just don't know how to understand Jace and his actions.

I can't tell if what he's saying and doing just part of his little game or if he means it. It's always like that. I think it's a part of me that doesn't want to believe what he is doing could be real and instead of harping on it I chalk it up to his game.

His teases, his touch, his presence always gets my heart racing.

He invades my thoughts during the day, at night, always.

He makes me forget about everything.

I even miss him when he's not around.

What's going on with me?

This was just suppose to be simple. Have him help with Nate and then we go our separate ways. Never look back.

Like we don't exist to each other.

At this point, Jace is so far down in my life I don't know if walking a way was possible. Then realization hit me so hard, I was surprise I didn't get whiplash.

Wait.

Hold on one second.

Don't tell me.

No.

No.

No.

It can't be.

I like him.

I like Jace.

I'm falling for Jace Emerson.
