Leah

After the dinner on Saturday all I wanted to do was bury my face in chocolate chip cookies and watch re-runs of The Vampire Diaries. A very important question, Stelena or Delena?  To feed my cravings, I decided to whip up a batch of cookies. Who doesn't love the smell of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies within their house?

Honestly, if they made that into a scent I would buy every candle and have one in every room. They don't have a candle, right?

Gathering all the ingredients, I started make the delicious cookies. Just as I was cracking the eggs I heard my front door slam open startling me causing it to slip out of my hands and hit the floor.

"Shit." I muttered grabbing a rag to clean it up. I stood up after wiping the floor clean of the raw egg  and was startled once more as I saw Kayla across the counter eating all the chocolate chips out of the bowl. "Hey! Those are for my cookies!" I scolded trying to grab the bowl from her hands.

Kayla took the bowl into her arms and shoved another handful into her mouth. I glared at her as she munched away on the chocolate morsels. "What are you doing here?" I asked snatching the bowl out of her tight grip.

"I can't visit my best friend on this beautiful day?" She retorted. I glance outside to see dark heavy clouds filled in the sky with sharp winds shaking tree limbs. It was gonna pour. I arched an eyebrow towards Kayla and she just shrugged her shoulders.

"It's beautiful to me."

"Why are you really here? Besides to eat everything in my house?" I asked as she rummaged through my kitchen cabinets. Do they not feed this girl at home?

Kayla grabbed a jar of Nutella and spoon. She sat down on one of the stools at the kitchen counter. "You, my friend." She started pointing the spoon in my direction. "Have some explaining to do." I was not getting out of this.

"You honestly couldn't wait till tomorrow?" I asked turning my attention back to my cookie dough batter. Now it's not going to be as chocolatey has I wanted.

Wait.

I took a spoon and took a heaping amount out of the Nutella jar and into my cookie dough. This could work.

"You're lucky I didn't lock you away in one of the many rooms of the Rylan's house and grill you with questions yesterday." She answered placing a spoonful of Nutella in her mouth. "Now, spill."

"You know, I don't have to tell you everything about my love life." I teased as I mixed the Nutella into the batter .

"What love life?" She asked causing me to shoot a glare at her. Ouch.

She's right, what love life? My love life is as existent as her sharing Nutella, nonexistent.

"Details, now." She demanded and not wanting to keep her waiting any longer I dived into the story. Telling her that Jace ended up agreeing to this charade. I kept out the part of Jace's game. For some reason, I felt like I had to keep that to myself. Like a dirty little secret.

At the end, Kayla had her mouth slightly ajar and eyes widen. "So you're telling me that the hottest guy in our school agreed to be your fake boyfriend to make Nate jealous?"

"Correction, to make it seem that I have moved on." I told her as I place the cookies in the oven.

"We're talking about Jace Emerson. The Jace Emerson. The absolute player." I nodded at her statements. "How did you manage that?"

I shrugged my shoulders as get a timer for the cookies. Crunchy around the edges and soft in the middle. The perfect cookie.  " Honestly, not a  clue.  He did say no at first."

Kayla quirked her head slight in confusion. "What caused his change of heart?" She asked curiously and I shook my head.

"No idea." I really had no idea as to why Jace changed his mind, but was I curious? Heck, yeah. Was I gonna push it and risking this whole thing? Heck, no.

I knew this was a deliciated situation and I needed to tread lightly.

"And you don't think you'll fall for him while playing this fake relationship?" Kayla questioned with a mischievous grin on her lips.

I scoffed. Why does everyone think I'll be the one falling? "Highly doubt it."

"Why? He's smoking hot. Have you seen those muscles?" She asked dreamily.

I felt them.

"I've seen better." I told her and she gave me a knowing look. "I'm not falling for him. Once we're done here, we'll be going our separate ways and back to how we were before. Ignoring one another."

"Sure." Was all she said not believing me at all. "I'll let you live in your delusional world just a bit longer."

I rolled my eyes at her.

The only thing I'll be falling for are these freshly baked cookies.

Walking into school Monday morning was a lot easier then I expected. Not that stares were any less than what I got at the mall. Is it weird that I was use to it already? I assume if you're gonna be around the school's resident bad boy you're bound to get stared at.

Walking up to my locker I opened it and pulled out the books I need for my first period class. Honestly, I can't stand Pre-Calculus. Like when the hell am I gonna need to use the distance formula in life? Let me tell you, never. That is what Google is for.

As I mentally cursed the class, my locker door was slammed shut almost taking my fingers off in the process. The loud sound rang clear in my ears.

What the hell?

"Shit." I muttered holding my almost chopped off fingers. They nearly skate on by, if I had reacted any later I would be holding a bloody hand. I looked over to see who the culprit was and saw Jace leaning against the lockers in all his glory with a grin on his lips.

"What do you want?" I asked irritated as I glanced down at my hand to make sure that all my fingers were still there. Yup, all five are still attached.

"Now, is that anyway to talk to your boyfriend?" He questioned with an amused look.

He is enjoying that word a little too much.

I glared at him and held up my hand. "You almost chopped off my fingers!"

"But did it happen?" He added and I gapped at him. Is he serious?

I want to smack him.

Just one good smack.

I didn't respond, instead I just continued my deadly glare at him hoping to melt that stupid smirk off his face. Until my eyes caught something or rather someone out the corner of my eye.

That can't be real. My eyes aren't deceiving me, right?

Over Jace's shoulder I saw Nate laughing and grinning. He looked quite happy. Being happy wasn't the problem, the problem was who he was looking happy with. Nicole Clarke. She was one to run with the popular group in school. We can go as far as to name her the most popular girl in school.

Her medium brown hair cascaded down her shoulders, her blue eyes sparkled as she talked to him. Looking super interested in what he was saying. Nate leaned in close and moved a piece of her wavy hair that seemly fell in front of her face away from her face tucking it behind her ear.

A burning sensation ignited at center of my chest and coarse through my body as I watched on. I was opening gawking at the sight in front of me. Trust me, I wanted to look away. I wanted to tear my eyes away, I wanted to focus my attention on something else, anything else, but I just couldn't find the motivation in me to do so.

I felt a strong hand grab my arm pushing my back against the lockers In a gently manner, but still causing them to rattle in the process. A hand made it down to my chin tilting my head up slightly allowing my eyes to peer into deep intense hazel ones.

Jace's presence was close. His entire aura captured me and allowed me to stay there. His warm minty breathe fanned my cheek ever so slightly. The scent of his intoxicating cologne engulf my senses once more. My heart picked up its paces as I saw him lean in closer, his lips inches away from my own.

"When you're with me you focus on me." His voice deep and intense. "You're attention is mine."

I felt a shiver run down my body from his words as my heart continued to race from our close proximity. I'm usually very vocal and would slash my words against him for being so close, but I just couldn't in this moment.

"Do you understand?" He asked slowly. His eyes peering directly into me, almost as if he could see my deepest and darkest secrets.

I nodded slowly still unable to form any type of words.

"Good." Was all he said as he pulled away leaving my body cold after his heated presence. I inhaled a deep breath as I tried to calm my racing heart.

Why is it heart racing in the first place?

I glanced over to see Jace's lips pulled up in a smug smile. "What?" I asked as I was finally able to speak. My body was still in recovery mode.

"It's good to know I have some effect on you." He said leaning against the closed lockers.

I arch a brow and scoffed. "You have no effect on me." I told him deadpanned.

He snorted and looked over in the opposite direction. "Looks like the he is gone."

I followed his line of vision to see the spot that Nate was standing in was long gone of his presence. A sigh of relief left my lips.

"You know, jealously doesn't really suit you." Jace said capturing my attention once more.

"I wasn't jealous." I said flatly.

Jace arched a brow curiously. "Do you lie to yourself all the time?"

He was starting to get on my nerves. "What do you want, Jace?" I gritted out.

A devious smile made its way onto his lips and I would be lying if I said it didn't scare me a bit.

"Follow me." Was all he said and then turned on his heels walking towards the grey double doors. Students were still in the hallway trying to make their way to class before the bell rung. Like what we were suppose to be doing.

"Wait, what about class?" I shouted after him. Jace didn't respond, instead he went through the double doors.

Call me stupid, but I actually decided to follow him. I was just a tad bit curious. Let's just hope he doesn't lead me off a cliff. Hopefully.

I followed Jace up to his gorgeous car. "What are we doing here?"

"We, my little fake girlfriend, are going somewhere less dreadful then this place." He answered unlocking the car.

See, he enjoys that way too much.

"We're skipping?" I asked incredulously.

"You've never skipped before?" Well, no. Unless you count the one time I left my last class earlier to go check on my mom when she was down with the flu last year. Even then I got permission from my teacher. "Why am I not surprised?" He added letting out a soft chuckle.

I just glared at him and he just gave me a cheeky smile.

"First time for everything." He said before slipping into the driver's seat.

I contemplated for a moment. I really shouldn't be doing this. Once won't hurt. I followed soon after, sliding into the comfort of his dark leather seat.

Jace has already taken a few first from me. My first 'boyfriend', the first one to beat me at arcade games and the first one to make me skip school.

What other first times could Jace possibly take from me?

I would be lying if I said I was not willing to find out.
