The day had begun like most Saturday's. I woke up half past ten and walked downstairs, finding my dad in the living room on the couch watching TV with Benji by his side.

I let out a yawn as I walked over to the pantry inside the kitchen and grabbed the box of cereal. I then proceeded to the cabinet where I grabbed myself a bowl and then took the milk out of the fridge. Lazily I poured the cereal in the bowl and the milk afterwards, before heading to the living room with my dad.

"What are you watching?" I question.

"House Hunters," he replies.

I can't help but roll my eyes. Ever since he started watching that show he has begun to think he is some architect or something. Each time I come over something from the house is different.

"Fun," I reply sarcastically before taking out my phone and checking my messages.

"What are you up to today?" dad questions.

"Homecoming is today," I reply as I text back Nat.

"Oh really? Why didn't you remind me?"

"Its not that big of a deal."

"Its homecoming."

"So?" I ask.

"So it's obviously important."

"Okay dad."

"So who are you going with?" He asks.

"What?"

"Are you going with someone?"

"Oh," I say shrug, "Yeah I guess."

"You guess?"

"Yeah."

"So who is it?"

I let out a groan.

"Really dad?"

"Yes really."

"Some guy."

"Name?"

"His name isn't important," I reply annoyed.

"Yes it is. And if he expects you to go with him he better come and get you."

"What? No. We had agreed to meet at school."

"School? What kind of date is that."

"Its not like that."

"Doesn't matter. Now tell me what's his name."

"Aaron Reeves, geez."

"Okay well you tell your Aaron Reeves that if he want to go with you to come pick you up or you're not going."

"Are you kidding?"

"Nope."

"What the sudden interest in this?" I question, recalling that I had told him about homecoming long ago and he never once said a thing about it; then again that was before the Aaron Reeves dilemma.

"I think my Authoritative Parenting just backfired on me yesterday when we had that talk."

"What ta-" I pause finally understanding what he is talking about, "Dad it was a joke."

"Is it?"

I give him a look. "Why would I lie to you?"

"Well I read that when it comes to virginity, children tend to keep those details away from parents and-"

"Okay stop, please," I beg. "Let me rephrase my question: When have I ever lied to you?"

"Hm," he ponders.

"Really?" I groan, "Dad I've always told you about the guys I've been with and you know that I've never gone beyond a kiss. Plus for your daughter to be telling you those things I'd suggest you Authoritative Parenting has worked out pretty well."

"Good point," he says agreeing, "but I still want to meet this guy."

"But-"

"If your mom finds out you went to homecoming without me taking your picture she'll freak. Just like that time I didn't tell her I bought you that one shirt with a skull on it."

I sigh. "Fine, but if he can't pick me up its not my fault."

Dad nods in agreement and I walk back up to my room.

There was exactly four hours until homecoming. I text Nat and Maru, asking if they want to come over and get ready here. I then go on Instagram and click on Aaron's profile.

Before I regret it I message him.

Hey

Within seconds he responds.

Weird

Weird?

Yeah, weird. You're messaging me. Normally it's me bothering you.

I'm only messaging you because I need a favor.

Of course you do but first explain why you're not following me on here

Excuse me?

You're not following me on here but yet you decide to message me which means that you had to look for my profile which also means you've looked through my photos and have managed to not accidentally like a photo of mine so I won't know that you were stalking me

How do you even know I'm not following you

So then you are following me?

No I'm not

But you did manage to check out all my pictures huh?

You're wasting my time. Can we just get passed this already

Not until you admit it

Of course you'd never let anything go

I'm waiting...

Fine. I looked at your photos. Happy?

Maybe a little. Also i just looked at your photos too. Hot bikini

A gasp escapes my lips as I read the message. My eyebrows furrow and suddenly I'm annoyed.

Are you done? I really need to ask you something.

Blue

Ugh. What now. What about blue

That's the color of the next bikini you should buy

Can you stop being a fucking perv and quit messing around for once

I wait for his message but it never comes. I let out a groan and wait. Twenty minutes pass and Nat and Maru arrive.

I push Aaron Reeves to the back of my mind and begin to get ready. I'm in the middle of singing Potential Break Up Song by Aly and AJ when suddenly my phone vibrates.

I think you like it

I stare at the message, annoyed. And then he send another one.

You like that I flirt with you. I wouldn't blame you. But just know this, I really do think that bikini picture is hot. Anyways, what do you want?

Saying that I'm irritated would be an understatement but after of typing a few words, most of them just bad words I delete them and instead type something else.

My dad wants you to come pick me up before the dance. He wants to take pictures of us for my mom. And before you go off about how I'm secretly in love with you, I don't want this either but I couldn't convince my dad so that you wouldn't have to come so now we have no choice.

Ok, what's your address? I'll be there at 7:30

I take another look at his message, taken aback because he didn't even try to fight me on this or even tease me. Instead of letting my curiosity take me any further I reply to Aaron sending him my address and then set my phone down so that I can finish my makeup.

Hours pass and finally we're ready. We go downstairs where my dad awaits with a camera. I roll my eyes as he struggles with it before snapping a picture of us.

Minutes later the doorbell rings. Nat and Maru give me a look and we all stand up.

"Showtime," says Maru.

"Good luck," says Nat, "we'll see you over there okay?"

"Wait, you're not coming with me?"

"No," says Maru, "you've got to make this believable remember? Besides what if things don't go as planned and we need a getaway car?"

I sigh. "Okay," I say, "I'll see you guys there then."

With one last sigh I walk over to the door and open it.

Aaron Reeves stands in front of me, wearing a suit. He forces a smiles.

"Hi Lux," he says and then nods at Maru and Nat as they walk out the house. From behind him I see Nat mouth: Good luck.

Aaron clears his throat and I look back at him. He looks at the person standing behind me.

"Hello sir, I'm Aaron Reeves and I just gotta say what a pleasure it is to take your daughter to homecoming tonight. But before we head off I was wondering if you could take some pictures of us? I really want to remember this night forever."

I bite my tongue hard so that I don't go off on him and I force myself to stay put instead of going over and punching him in the face. Because even though he's managed to suddenly charm my dad, I see it.

I see the smug smirk Aaron Reeves carries behind the fake smile he's imitating.
