Being in that disgusting warehouse was going to scar me.

And to add the worst part in, I was kidnapped.

Kidnapped.

It was mind-blowing because I didn't know Ken would go that low to doing a such thing. My mother was blind because she didn't really see him for him but I guess we all were for he wore that fake identity pretty well.

When the twins have been told that they were kidnapped and that Ken murdered their parents, the twins went crazy, demanding that Ken would have to go to jail with a life sentence and my dad had promised them that. But what was surprising being that the twins were actually relieved that they were adopted and that their Ken was not their biological father. It saddened them to hear that their birth parents had been murdered but now, they get to live freely without having someone always behind their backs.

"You're okay, right?" I questioned, again.

"Thea, we're good," Keith answered with a boyish grin.

"Yeah, kinda sucks that we didn't meet our real parents though," added Kody with a shrug.

"You have mom and I," I said with grin.

Both the twins looked at each other then arched their eyebrows at me. I tilted my head in confusion. "What?"

"Why hasn't your mom been alerted about this?" Keith asked with a gulp.

My eyes widened at the realisation that my mom was not here and that she knew nothing of this. Dad's FBI team mates retreated back to their homes as my dad had given them all a day off from work as he took one as well right after they had taken Ken to his prison cell. When Anastasia and Aubree came to pick me up from the hospital, tears were spilling out of their gorgeous eyes and that was when I had to give them both a hug, reassuring them that I will be okay.

Now, the twins and I were left in the kitchen to catch up before they leave even though the thought of the twins leaving was heartbreaking. "I don't know, I should really ask dad."

"Thea, you're really blessed to have this family," Keith whispered, taking my small hand into his. "Never take that for granted."

"I promise," I whispered in response.

"Am I interrupting something?" a familiar masculine voice rung around the atmosphere as we all turned our heads to see my dad walking inside, tensed and surprised written all over his face.

"What is it?" Kody asked, bemused.

"It's about your mother," dad answered, exhaling slowly.

"Did something happen to her?" Keith asked, concern laced in his voice.

My dad shook his head. "She's-"

"What?" Kody pressed on, not letting my dad finish his sentence.

"She assisted Ken with Thea's kidnap," my dad whispered, letting his eyes drop to the floor.

The world stopped spinning as I could feel the floor tilt sideways at what I had just heard. Tears brimmed my wide eyes and my heart rate was slowly decreasing as I stared at the twins who stared right back at me in shock, probably mirroring my facial expression.

I blinked once, twice, then several times before my dad's words could process through my brain and when it did, the world started spinning again as I could already feel my tears running down my cheeks like waterfalls. "That's impossible."

"She turned herself in with a confession," my dad explained slowly, as if trying to touch something fragile. "I'm so sorry, Thea."

"Did she say why she did it?" I asked, hoping that everything was just a dream and that eventually I would wake up soon.

"Your mother knows that she's a weak person," my dad answered, his eyes lifting themselves up to meet mine. "He threatened her and if she didn't do what he asked, he would kill both the twins and you."

"She did it to protect us," Keith whispered in shock.

"Shit just got real," Kody muttered under his breath.

Kody earned a slap on the head from Keith.

"She's not going to have a life sentence but she will have an attorney to help reduce the sentence so don't worry," my dad said before walking out of the kitchen.

The twins and I all looked at each other, stunned at what we had just heard.

That was how Ken knew where to find me.

My mother didn't need to work that much; she was just doing what he wanted her to do.

Frustration coursed through me as I stormed out of the kitchen and then out of the house, clenching my jaw before I blindly made my way down the street until I crashed into something hard.

When I looked up, I found Xavier frowning down on me. "What is it?"

I could feel a lump rise in my throat before I fell weak into his arms, wanting to forget what my mom had done for me and the twins. For everything to go back to the way it was before my dad left.

It was easier being a five year old.
