Tia and Jordan

We made the guys watch three chick flicks and they complained the entire time. In fact the entire movies were filled with their commentary on how dumb the plot was or how 'that would never happen in real life.' Sure, it probably wouldn't but I liked watching cliche feel-good movies.

But what I liked more than the movies was cuddling up to Liam on the sofa. Being the one that got to nuzzle into his chest while he absentmindedly twirled my hair around his fingers. This is what felt right, more than right, it was perfect.

"Who is our DUFF?" Ben asked the group. He was referring to the 'designated ugly fat friend' and everyone started laughing at him. The guys launched popcorn at his head.

"If you don't know who the duff is then you are the duff." Zak teased and Ben flipped him the bird.

"Right, I'm going to bed. I can't handle these movies." Liam announced and he stood up making me feel instantly cold. "Are you coming?" My eyes widened at his invitation and the group came alive with 'oohing' sounds which made my cheeks blush.

"Uhm, I'm gonna make myself some hot cocoa and then I will come up. You want one?"

"Sure." He disappeared out of the room I could feel everybody's eyes on me. I felt flushed with embarrassment.

"He didn't mean it like that." I defended. I couldn't bare them thinking we were doing the nasty just down the hall from them all. I ignored their childish laughter and disappeared to the kitchen. Tia soon joined me fixing herself a glass of water.

"Hey Liv, I'm sorry for losing my cool at the diner about Liam. He obviously is dealing with a lot and although that doesn't give him a free pass to hurt you I think sometimes I misinterpret what is actually going on."

"You do." I told her bluntly. "But I accept your apology." She smiled beautifully. There was an awkward silence spread between us. "You didn't tell me about Jordan." I finally addressed the elephant in the room and she sighed really dramatically.

"Can you blame me, it's Jordan." She offered as an explanation and I laughed.

"How did that happen?" I rested my face down on my elbows and watched as her face softened and she bit down on her lip to hide her smile. She was head over heels, how did I not see this before?

"We started at college and didn't speak to each other for a few weeks. Then my friend started dating his friend and because he was some big shot popular soccer player she dragged me around on the dates because she was too nervous to go by herself. I was forced to double date Jordan and let me tell you we did NOT get along.

I couldn't forgive him, ya know? For treating you so badly. We argued continuously but then one night at a party we somehow ended up screaming at each other, completely trashed at three in the morning in the middle of a sleeping campus.

One thing led to another and before I knew it we were ripping each others clothes off"

"Okay!" I stopped her, holding my hand out. Her face beamed as she relived the memories.

"After that we sort of just hooked up from time to time, it was just a physical thing. Lots of passion. Lots of arguing. Lots of sex. But then I don't know, I just called him up whenever I had a problem and he would always be there. We started to spend more time together, like at the movies or just hanging out at the diner. It became less about the arguments and more about the friendship. I grew feelings for him and he did for me."

"I'm really happy for you Tia. Jordan is a really great guy. First impressions aren't everything but when you get to know him you see that he's completely genuine, dependable and loyal. I think you will be really happy together."

I loaded our hot coco onto a tray and carefully made my way upstairs. I could hear voices coming from inside Liams room and when I pushed the door open Lola was sitting on the bed.

"Hey, what are you doing in here?" I placed the tray onto the unit and watched Lola get up and make her way towards the door.

"Nothing. I was just pestering Liam for his keys." My jaw dropped slightly and my face frowned. She is seriously in here asking him for his keys when she knows what he has been going through. Only hours ago he shared the hardest story of his life to his friends and still feels incredibly fragile. I thought she had far better courtesy than that or perhaps that was her intention, pounce on him while he was weakened. Take advantage of his misfortune.

"Lola?" Liam called her back as she was about to walk out of the door. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his keys, throwing them through the air until she caught them with both hands.

Her face lit up with a beaming smile and her straightened orange bob moved enthusiastically on her head. I searched Liams face, wondering what witchcraft she had used on him. But he seemed content, happy with his decision.

"Don't trash my bike." He warned her with a smile, like his threat wasn't at all serious although he loved his bike with all of his heart and I didn't think like he liked Lola at all.

She practically skipped out of the room, disappearing before Liam could change his mind. I heard her frantic footsteps banging on each step of the wooden staircase.

"What was that?" I asked now actually terrified he had suffered a head injury during his last beating. He shrugged as the sound of the front door slammed close.

"A mutual understanding." He told me and then from the window the noise of a motorbikes engine filled the room. He covered his face with his hands and shook his head "one I instantly regret" he laughed.

There was something about his laugh that reminded me of the old Liam, the one I called my boyfriend. It warmed my heart and filled me with so much joy. It made me realize how much I have missed him, not just over the past day but these weeks I've spent without him. Longing for him.

I pulled his hands away from his eyes and very slowly I climbed onto his lap, he wrapped his arms around my back securing my body close to his. He was ridiculously handsome, running on low amounts of sleep and emotional turmoil, yet it didn't change his outer appearance.

His skin looked blemish free, well the skin on his face that is. He didn't have dark circles under his eyes like me, he didn't have worry wrinkles or bloodshot eyes. It was actually unfair at how good he truly looked.

"I missed you." I admitted.

"I missed you." He echoed.

I looked down at his lips. They were rosy and looked delicious. Just sitting there on his face, waiting to be kissed. So I leaned down and touched them tenderly with my own. Our kiss was slow, romantic. It wasn't about passion or seduction. It was about something more.

I was letting Liam know that I was here, he had me completely, right by his side. It was comforting. It was safety. It was love.

My fingers found his hair and softly I toyed with it. He ran his fingers up and down my back, teasing me slowly with back tickles. I squirmed against his body, enjoying the tingles he was causing me to feel and in order to distract myself from the tickling I deepened the kiss.

It still remained slow and steady but it was powerful and it was exactly what we both needed in that moment. To connect in the most reassuring way.

Liam was back, safely in my arms and I won't let anything or anyone come between us again.
