Kaydon

Tomorrow is game day. The day. I still haven't received a call from Harry and I'm freaking out.

I'm sitting on my living room couch, elbows rested on my knees with my hand in my palms. It's eight o'clock at night and my leg is bouncing up and down. I feel the seat next to mine dip and I turn to see Blake offering me a Dorito chip.

"What? Comfort food, man." he shrugs and eats it when I swat it away. I hear Ty sigh behind me and plopped down on my other side.

"You look like a sad little kid who got rejected from those free samples at Costco." he looks at me with a pity look. I glare at him unamused and he shoots his hands up in defense.

"Am I wrong?"

Blake's chip bags keeps on rustling and he stuffs more chips in his mouth. "You're not wrong." he says with crumbs in his mouth. I shove them both and they wince in pain.

I run my hands through my hair and lean back against the couch with my legs out. "Harry still hasn't called me, I swear to god if he comes out of nowhere-"

Ty shakes me. "Don't think that! He won't come out of nowhere. He might call you after the game." He sighs and pats me on the shoulder, looking at me in all seriousness.

"Seriously, dude. This is getting way to your head. You'll be okay." he assures.

On the other side of me, I still hear munching on chips and I grab the empty bag and throw it on the table. Ty looks over and gives Blake a "really", look. "Oh, my bad wait, let me think of something to say." Blake sheepishly looks at me.

"Here, let's talk about Sierra. Does she know?" he asks me and I shake my head in defeat. If I leave during the game, she's going to hate me. Ty and Blake look at each other and then turns toward me.

"Do you still, you know?" Ty quietly asks and I raise an eyebrow confusingly.

"Still what?"

Blake pokes his tongue to his cheek and looks down while grinning like a psycho. Ty laughs and I just sit there confused as they laugh their asses off.

I smack both of their heads and they stop immediately. "What?"

Ty wipes the tears from his eyes and puts a hand on my shoulder. "Do you still like her?" he says like I'm a little kid. Blake cackles really loudly and I shoot him a look.

"No," I say quickly but I hesitate. "Maybe? I don't know!" I ramble and I hide my face with my hands. I'm 100% sure my ears are red as fuck now. Blake's laughs are what I hear right in my ear and I feel the couch shaking from him moving.

Ty throws my hands off of my face and faces me. "We can tell." he says simply and I roll my eyes.

"I don't want to hurt our friendship anymore," I say. Blake immediately stops and sits up from his laughing state. He stares directly at me and I almost shrink from his weird stare. No, seriously I'm about to shit my pants.

"Blake-"

"Hurt your guys' friendship?!" he shouts. His voice echoes through the house and I flinch from his odd outburst.

"You guys love each other for heaven's sake! You have been for years. You never forgot about her, you never hated her, and you never ever lost feelings for her even when you were with Sarah. Ty and I have been rooting for you guys since day 1 and you're saying you're scared to mess up your guys' friendship? You both like each other, my god!" he exclaims and he isn't done. He stands up and stands right in front of me. I take a look at Ty and he's shocked like I am.

"If you tell her you love her, she'll tell you she loves you too. Yes, you broke her heart, but guess what? She gave you a second shot. I see that shimmer shit in your guys' eyes when you look at each other," he sits down again, looking at the table in front of us in frustration.

"For the sake of her heart and the groups' souls, please tell her how you feel." he finishes and there was silence for the next couple moments. I take in his words and rethink about the lectures they always told me back then.

They always said to say what I want to say and don't hide what I feel from her. I'll never know if she'll feel the same way unless I ask. They knew about the crush I had on her back then and of course she eventually knew. We both were just too scared to do anything, plus we were seven so give us a break.

The guys did embarrass me all the time though. Sierra never heard it from them but I always ended up fighting the guys after they tease me about the whole crush thing.

"Kaydon and Sierra sitting in a tree!" Ty shouted and I tackled him to the carpeted ground. I put a hand to his mouth, muffling whatever he was about to finish.

"Shut up, Ty!" I said breathlessly and Blake pulled me off while out of breath from laughing. I brushed dust off of my sweatshirt and Ty got up, wiping the tears from the corners of his eyes.

Blake raised an eyebrow at us. "Really?"

"He started it!" Ty and I said simultaneously. We both looked at each other and stuck our tongues out. Blake snorts and sits on the bean bag on the ground. "You both are so childish."

"Says the kid who said girls have cooties today during reading." Ty shot back and Blake's jaw drops open. I laughed and sat down next to Blake and Ty lays on Blake's bed. The door opened and Sierra came over to hand me my dark blue backpack that I left.

"You forgot it at my house, make sure you get your homework done!" she ruffled my hair and I smile back at her. Once the door closed and we heard her footsteps get more distant, they both smirked at me.

I covered my face with the backpack and got ready for the teasing. I felt a hand on my arm, shaking me. I peeked out from the bag and it got yanked away from me.

Dang it.

"Kaydon and Sierra sitting on a tree! K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" they shouted and danced. I covered my warm face and just laughed at their crazy and terrible singing.

**

"Well?" Blake asks me and I snap out of my daze. Ty still has his eyes widened and I have no words to say.

"It's going to crush her whenever I leave, Blake." I finally say and he relaxes his shoulders. "That's why I can't, I just- I just can't say it. I don't want a part of her heart being ripped away again because of me."

Ty shakes his head, resting his hand on my shoulder. "She'll be okay."

I really hope so. The feeling of seeing your best friend cry because of you hurts like shit. I'll tell her when it's the best time because right now it isn't.

Whatever I do, has to be right. I don't know what's right anymore. Telling her, or not telling her.

Either way her heart is going to break and her life is going to shatter. Our feelings are dancing along a ledge and it's almost time for us to fall and stop dancing.

And I'm that dancer that wants to catch her whenever we fall, but I can't because I'll be the one disappearing as she continues to fall and fall to the ground where she breaks.

"Look, you're going to figure it out man. We'll be here for you-" the door opens and the three liveliest people we ever met walks into the room and sits down next to us. Parker ruffles our hair and Sierra places down a bowl of fruit.

Cameron smiles and lays down on the three of us on the couch. "Sup, guys." she says and we laugh.

"Come on! Game day is tomorrow, let's watch High School Musical in honor of it!" Parker squeals and Ty scrunches his face up.

"What does High School Musical have to do with volleyball?" he asks and Sierra sits down in front of me on the ground.

"Nothing, but it gives us good luck." she responds and we all get comfortable to watch the movie.

The big conversation can wait. Our dance pauses even though that ledge is near. I'm just hoping that whatever happens, we stay paused like this for a while. Paused enough to where I can keep her from falling off that ledge.

But I don't think I have enough time.
