KAYDON

She wore my clothes. She wore my clothes. She wore my clothes.

She wore my fucking clothes.

I'm okay.

No you're not.

Am I still freaking out about the night she wore my hoodie and sweatpants? Yes. Do I regret a single thing? Hell no.

She looked adorable. The sweatpants were way too long and were barely above the ankles, the hoodie swallowed her up while she was curled up in the corner of the couch, and she just looked like a freaking big teddy bear.

God, I hate these rules. But I hate Harry more.

I think everyone hates him at this point.

I'm still blaming myself as a kid. I was always a better kid than now. I wish I y be like I was back then but you know, life changes. We don't know where life is going to take us so we just go with the flow.

Harry wanted our lives to be football, no matter what. Blake was pressured so much, out of the three of us. It broke Cameron's heart to see her big brother leave. I remember seeing her break down on to her knees crying as we walked out the front door.

Sierra was bawling and so hurt, I wanted to drop everything and run to her. I would've if I had the chance.

I didn't have a single chance.

"Hello, earth to Kaydon!" I feel a hard slap to my shoulder and I glare at the person on the right of me.

School is a place where I don't want to be at. I hate it with a passion. It's worse when the school's football team is staring at you whenever you go near them. They'll warm up to me when the season begins. Coach has been deciding some things and he really wants us to think about it. Us as in me, Ty, and Blake.

"What's been on your mind lately?" Blake nudges me and I steal a gummy worm from his ziplock bag. I shake my head and Ty raises an eyebrow at me.

"Ah-ah, nope. Something's up, bro. You gotta tell us."

I shove a handful of gummy worms in my mouth and stare at the lockers in front of us. We were sitting outside the gym doors waiting for the girls to finish up their practice. They said it's their quick practice today which is only for an hour and a half but it's been almost 2 hours.

"I bet you $20 its Sierra!" Blake says and I give him a jab in the stomach. Ty starts laughing and Blake groans in pain, clutching his side.

"Hand over the 20!" Blake says while wincing in pain.

SIERRA

"Go!"

We all sprint to the attack line then back. Then we go to the half court line and so on. My chest is starting to hurt, sweat is dripping down my face, it's getting way too hot.

I finally make it to the end and I immediately put my hands behind my head. I try and control my breathing hut my lungs are trying to take in and let out so much air at the same time.

Today's practice was rough. We dropped balls, hit them in the net, we let most of our digs touch the ground. Coach made me do 25 burpees for missing an easy dive.

Parker collapses on to the floor but I try and tell her in between my rapid breathing to stand up. Sitting or laying down will not help you after you ran. Cameron runs outside the gym doors and I hear her hacking in the trash bin and everyone else just falls to the floor or squats down.

We did this for a solid 10 minutes, no breaks.

We had a pep talk and got dismissed with no apology whatsoever for killing us. I grab Cameron's things along with mine and Parker walks slowly behind me. I'm still out of breath and we have to check on Cam.

"Cameron, breathe!" I hear a voice say as we walk out the gym.

"I can't fucking breathe when my lungs are on fire!" Cameron shouts back and begins throwing up again. I immediately see Ty holding up Cameron's ponytail and Blake and Kaydon are frozen in spot. They all immediately look at us and Blake runs up to Parker before she collapses.

"Woah, what happened in practice?" Blake sits down Parker and gives her his water bottle. She gladly gulps down huge amounts of water.

I was about to answer but the whole world became dizzy for a few seconds and I lean against the wall. Remind me to try harder in practice.

"Sierra, sit down." Kaydon says and I do. He sits besides me and feels for my pulse on my wrist.

"Your heart is racing like crazy." he says quietly and I hum in response.

I open my droopy eyes a bit and see Ty still rubbing Cam's back and Parker rubbing her temples. Blake is searching for Tylenol in Parker's bag and I lean on the shoulder next to me.

"You guys look sick as hell. How are you going to drive home?" Blake feels Parker's forehead and wipes off the excess sweat. Some strands of hair are stuck on my face from the ponytail and Kaydon wipes them off.

"We took only Parker's car." I say and my chest just keeps on hurting like crazy. I never thought our practice would take this long.

Cameron finally stops throwing up and Ty immediately catches her before she fell backwards. Her t-shirt was all rumpled and her messy hair was in her face. "Let's take you guys home."

Kaydon puts his arm around my waist to guide me and Parker is on Blake's back. Cameron is being carried bridal style by Ty and we reached the parking lot.

Volleyball is getting exhausting. Plus, very toxic with our coach. Some teammates are just being so pushy and we've been doing so much jammed packed things back to back with no breaks. I get the exhaustion but the toxicity from the coaches yelling at us and never saying one good thing about our team I'm done with.

"Can I ride with you?" I mumble to Kaydon and he nods. He says something to the guys and I hear them agreeing. Kaydon grabs my bags from my grip and slings them around his shoulders and continued to guide me to his car.

Once we reach it, I hop in the seat and Kaydon buckles my seat belt for me and throws my things in the backseat. He quickly hops in the car and started reversing out of the parking spot.

"I'm going to fucking talk to your coach. You guys were about ready to pass out!" he grumbles and I put a hand on his arm which was always on the center console. We stop at a red light and he turns to me.

I see anger in his eyes and I think back to the explanation he told me. Him and the guys were under this amount of pressure. The point where one of them threw up, to the point where one of them almost passed out, and to the point where all of them felt like dying of exhaustion.

"We just had a rough practice that's all." I say, barely a whisper. My voice is also raspy and I wince at the pain in my throat every time I swallow.

"Sierra you sound sick." he puts a hand on my forehead and he turns his attention back on the road. "I'm taking you to my place for you to rest up. You're gonna get a headache from Leah, your mom, and aunt Tanya."

I just nod and stare out the window. I haven't felt this tired in a long time and my chest still hurts. My throat is dry and all I wanted is my iced tea I always make myself.

"I'll make you your tea." he says and I turn my gaze towards him. He has a playful grin on.

"You know how to make it?" I ask and I start coughing.

"Of course I do. You used to get sick all the time and your mom would tell me how to make it." he chuckles and he turns into his driveway.

Of course he remembers. His memory is so unbelievably good. Dory could never.

He opens my side of the car and I hop out, catching myself and he rests his arm around my waist again, also carrying most of my bags. We walk to his front door and he unlocks it.

The smell of citrus fills the air and I immediately think of home again when I walk into his silent, ghostly house.

I always forget that his parents choose not to stay here as much. They seem to forget they have a son living by himself here. He sets my things down and leads me towards the couch.

"Kaydon, I'm fine now." I try to say but the rasp in my voice makes me cough. He shakes his head and hands me his sweatshirt on the armrest of the couch.

"I can go find some pair of pants so you're not stuck in spandex but put on the sweatshirt instead of your practice tee." he goes into the kitchen allowing me to do that and I'm thankful I'm wearing a sports bra underneath.

His black sweatshirt gives off a warm type of smell and a hint of mint and I look in my bag for my leggings I packed.

I headed for the bathroom, which I know where. I hadn't completely forgotten how to get my way in this house.

I quickly change and headed out back to the living room. From my view I see Kaydon on the phone while stirring my tea, not knowing I walked away for a couple minutes to change.

"I can't talk about it right now," he says harshly and it looks like he was about to slam his phone down on the counter. "No, I'm fucking hanging up."

And he did. He lets out a sigh and he looks up, connecting his gaze to mine and I hope my cheeks didn't turn red. He grabs the mug in his left hand and a bag of cough drops in the right.

"Here." he sets them down on the table and I sit back into the couch, staring at the familiar tea in the mug.

"Lemon, honey, sugar, and just normal tea." he assures me and I smile, taking a sip of the drink. The warm temperature and the citrus tastes goes down my throat smoothly and I grin to myself.

"Thank you." I say quietly and he nods, sitting down next to me. He turns on the TV and I slightly shift so that I can pull up my legs and my arm is barely brushing against his.

I feel safe and way better than I was before. The exhaustion leaves my body and now my body is shutting off. I let my head drop on his shoulder and the last thing I feel is a light peck on the head before dozing off into my dreams.
