When Naruto got to the inn he wasn't really in the mood to do much. "Can I get two single rooms and one triple room please." He didn't really want to share a room with anyone. He knew he was going to have another nightmare tonight because of everything that happened.

"I'm sorry sir, but most of our rooms have been booked. I can give you one single room and two double rooms. That's all I've got."

Naruto turned towards the innkeeper as she spoke. Man, I feel kinda bad for her. "No, that's fine. Thank you." He knew that there was nothing he could do about it, and he didn't want to be mean to the woman just for doing her job. He smiled as he took the three room keys, and just as he was about to go back to the bathhouse to gather everyone up and give them their keys, the other four members of his group walked through the door of the inn.

"Ah, Naruto. I assume you were able to get our rooms situated?" Minato asked when he saw Naruto standing by the desk.

"Of course I did, ya know! I always follow through with what I say I'll do! Though we will have to pair up. Rin here is the key to your room." Naruto handed Rin the key to the single room as he turned to face the other three. Man, I do not want to room with dad, he'll just keep asking questions. And though I don't hate him anymore, I really don't want to share with Obito. "I suppose Minato and Obito can share a room, and I will share with Kakashi."

Kakashi was about to argue when Minato cut in. "That sounds good. Now, everyone get some good rest for the night. We will be busy tomorrow." Minato, Rin and Obito all turned and walked off towards their rooms, but Kakashi was still standing by the doorway. He didn't like Naruto and did not want to share with him.

"Come on little brother! Let's go!" Naruto practically dragged Kakashi behind him as they went up to the room they would be sharing. Naruto chose the bed which was closest to the window, which bugged Kakashi because that's the one he wanted.

"I'm going to sleep." Kakashi just decided to turn in for the night so he didn't have to talk to Naruto at all. Before he could lay down in bed though, he heard Naruto speak up from the other side of the room.

"You know Kakashi, there are more important things in life than a mission." Naruto's voice was sincere as he spoke.

"What are you talking about? The mission always comes first, that's the rule! Those who break the rules of the village are just scum!" Kakashi couldn't believe what he was hearing. This guy is a complete idiot. He thought to himself.

"Those who break the rules are scum, that's true. But those who would abandon even one of their friends, are even worse than scum." Naruto seemed to be staring into Kakashi's mind as he spoke. It wasn't as if he was being mean, but his face showed a seriousness to it that surprised Kakashi.

"Yeah, whatever. I will never break the rules." Kakashi didn't say anything else, and he just turned over to fall asleep.

Naruto stared at Kakashi's sleeping figure as he muttered to himself. "You will understand it soon, little brother." It was a sad truth, but Naruto knew what was supposed to happen.

There's blood everywhere... Sasuke and I were fighting with Madara. It needs to end here. The war needs to be over.

"Sasuke, combine your fire with me!" I called over to get Sasuke's attention. Our wind and fire attacks were extremely strong. Hopefully we could tire him out enough to beat him.

"Now!" We both yelled at the same time. Our attacks combined, but when they reached Madara, it was like it didn't even phase him.

"What happened?" I yelled out my question. My frustration was starting to get the best of me.

"I absorbed your attack so that I can send it back to you again." Madara spoke up from the other side of the battlefield. His voice was so smug I hated it.

I didn't even get a chance to reply. I was hit with the attack Sasuke and I had thrown at Madara.

Pain...

My vision was blurry as I opened my eyes. 'Well I definitely have some broken ribs. I think my arm is broken and my shoulder is definitely dislocated.' I was thinking this to myself as I tried to stand up. "Argh!" Yep, lots of broken things.

"Naruto!" I could hear Sasuke calling my name as I tried to find him. Then I noticed the blade flying towards me. Madara must have thrown it... My body wasn't responding how it was supposed to. It hurt all over. The blade was getting closer and closer. I closed my eyes, expecting the pain to come any minute, but nothing happened.

When I opened my eyes, Sasuke was standing in front of me with a blade through his chest.

"Sasuke!" Sasuke started to fall. Ignoring the pain my body was in, I moved to catch him before he hit the ground. "Why would you do that?" I didn't care if I was crying. I worked so hard to bring him back... I couldn't lose him again.

"B-because you're my f-friend." Sasuke repeated the words I was always telling him.

"Sasuke, you can't die! We have to do this together!"

"S-sorry Naruto...m-maybe next time..." Sasuke tapped me on the forehead as he spoke. I was crying even more because Itachi used to do that to him before he would always leave.

"Sasuke! NO!" Sasuke wasn't saying anything. "SASUKE!!"

Naruto shot out of bed as he woke from his nightmare. He quickly glanced at Kakashi to see if he had woken him up, but it looked like he was still asleep. Naruto's heart was beating frantically, and his breathing was quick and ragged. He got out of bed as quickly and quietly as possible, and he opened the window and jumped out into the night.

Kakashi woke up to the frightened yell of Naruto. "Sasuke? Who's that?" He looked over at Naruto who was sweating and breathing hard. He then saw Naruto wake up in a frenzy looking around. Kakashi pretended to be asleep so Naruto wouldn't suspect anything. He watched as Naruto gripped his chest and wiped his eyes before going to the window and jumping out. "That was really strange...was that a nightmare?" Kakashi was so confused, but he decided not to worry about it and he went back to sleep for the rest of the night.

Naruto was absentmindedly walking through woods that surrounded the village. His mind couldn't stop reliving his nightmare over and over again. "Dammit! Why did they all die to protect me? Why couldn't I protect anyone."

"Naruto, stop talking nonsense. They protected you because they believed in you. Just like your parents." Kurama couldn't stand to see Naruto put himself down.

"Kurama, I literally didn't save one person! All my life has done has brought death to those I care about!" Naruto was nearing hysterics at this point.

"Then why are we in this time period?" Kurama spoke quietly, not wanting Naruto to block him out.

"You know exactly why we're here! It's to change the events that made the war a possibility!" Naruto couldn't help but snap at Kurama as he spoke. "It was your idea, remember?!"

"Obviously I remember you brat! I wanted to make sure you remembered."

"What?" Now Naruto was really confused.

"You are trying to change the past so you can save the lives of everyone! You are the only one who can do that. If you didn't care or didn't matter, you wouldn't be here."

Naruto thought of the words that Kurama spoke. He couldn't deny the truth in them. "Kurama... you're a smart ass."

"I know."

Naruto looked down at his shaking hands. He had the sun mark on his right palm that the Sage of Six Paths had given him. On his left palm he had the crescent moon mark that once belonged to Sasuke. He had transferred it to him before he died. Naruto felt fresh tears falling down his face as he remembered his best friend and brother. "Sasuke..."

Kurama could feel Naruto starting to lose control of his chakra suppression. "Naruto...you need to calm down. You're losing control of your chakra..." It was a warning, but Kurama was still worried about Naruto. Naruto wasn't listening so Kurama tried to forcibly pull him into the mindscape to get him to calm down before things got worse.

The next morning Minato walked to Naruto and Kakashi's room so that they could all head to breakfast together. He waited for a couple minutes before Kakashi opened the door with tired eyes. "Ah, Kakashi. Good morning." Minato greeted Kakashi, noting how everything was oddly quiet.

"Is it time to start our mission, Minato-sensei?" Kakashi didn't really care about pleasantries. He was just ready to start gathering information.

"Well, I was actually hoping we could all go and get breakfast together first. We are supposed to be tourists here."

Kakashi just looked at Minato for a minute before he decided to answer. "Sure, why not. Though Naruto probably won't be there." He decided to add in that last part as a way to tell Minato that Naruto decided to just leave without telling anyone.

"What do you mean he won't be there? Is he still asleep?" Minato got a bad feeling when Kakashi told him that he wouldn't be eating. I hope he's still asleep. He needs it.

"No, he left in a hurry sometime last night." Kakashi just shrugged his shoulders. It was Minato's responsibility now.

Great... This is the last thing we need right now. Minato was really worried that Naruto would just leave, but he wouldn't even know where to start to look for him. "Well, alright then. I'm sure he'll show up later." Ignoring the bad feeling he was getting, Minato decided to gather up the other three members of his team, and together they all walked down to eat.

They had all been eating together for a little over fifteen minutes when they felt a tremor shake the building.

"Minato-sensei, that was no ordinary earthquake. What was that?" Kakashi, who had previously been silent, was the first to speak up.

Minato was only partially listening. That was a shockwave from chakra! He magnified his senses so that he could try and detect who's chakra it was and where they were. His answer was one he had feared the most. "Naruto!"
