The rain poured down hard on the empty landscape, over fallen trees, embers of fires that were once burning being snuffed out one by one. Bodies of fallen shinobi laying broken and cold as far as the eye can see. Only a young blonde stood amongst the destruction, the rain masking the tears that were falling from his cerulean blue eyes and down his whiskered cheeks. The only sign that showed he was crying was the uncontrollable shaking of his shoulders and the quiet sobs that escaped his mouth. The Fourth Great Shinobi War was over, it should have been a day of great celebration, but for the lonesome blonde it was only a day of sadness.

"Naruto..." a deep voice could be heard within the blonde's head, but he made no move to reply. "Naruto, you have to talk to me sooner or later." The voice spoke again, this time just a little more directly.

"Kurama..." Naruto's voice was barely above a whisper, the sadness seeping through every syllable. "Kurama, they're all gone...I...I couldn't save anyone..." No matter what he did, Naruto could not stop the tears as they fell from his eyes.

Yes, the war was over. Naruto Uzumaki, the strongest shinobi of his time, finally defeated Madara Uchiha, but at a great price. He was the only one left...bloodied and bruised, standing over the lifeless bodies of his best friends with only Kurama, the Nine-Tailed Fox left as his only friend and family.

Kurama didn't know what to say. He knew the grief was so great for Naruto, nothing he said would be enough to ease the pain of losing everyone and again being all alone. It was silent for a long time as the two stayed in their own thoughts until the most crazy and undeniably insane idea struck Kurama. "AHA!" The yell of Kurama startled poor Naruto to the point he actually jumped. "Naruto, I know what we can do to fix everything!"

"Yeah, what do you have in mind, Kura?" Kurama didn't miss the hopelessness that had seeped its way into Naruto's voice.

Kurama took a breath before speaking. "We go back in time..."

"Huh?" Naruto wasn't sure he was hearing things right, or understanding.

"We go back and fix things..."

Naruto barely showed any emotion or reaction to the idea as he replied. "Okay, sure. How?"

"Naruto, I am going to need all of the chakra that you have left. Is that okay?"

"Sure...take whatever you need."

Inside Naruto's mind Kurama was quickly drawing out a detailed symbol on the ground, Naruto was kneeling hopelessly in the mindscape not even paying attention to what the crazy fox was doing, and was lost in his own drowning thoughts.

"Naruto, I'm ready." The graveness in Kurama's voice spoke more to the seriousness of the situation more than anything else could. "Naruto, are you ready for this?" He asked again after he didn't get a reply. Again, the boy said nothing in return. "Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze!!" The use of his full name was enough to shake the boy from his thoughts.

"Huh? What did you say?"

"...Naruto, are you ready? With the Chakra we both have left we could potentially die." Kurama could barely contain the sigh he wanted to release at the absentmindedness of his vessel, but given the circumstances he had enough sense to be understanding.

"Yeah, go ahead Kura. I have nothing else to lose anyways."

With permission from Naruto, Kurama began the many, many hand signs he needed for this particular jutsu he was about to perform. He knew that they could die from the strain on their low chakra, but if they were able to pull this off, they could have the chance to save the entire ninja world. "DIMENSIONAL TIME RIFT JUTSU!" Kurama's yell shook the entire mindscape.

"Kurama what's happening?!" A bright white light was all that Naruto could see. He was pulled out of his mindscape, but everything looked like it was swirling around itself. He was starting to feel extremely sick when he felt a strong pull within himself, and then...nothing.
