A CHRISTMAS SPECIAL

GINGERBREAD HOUSE

JIMIN LET OUT a grunt as he lifted rosalie up in his arms. she beamed, leaning forward towards the large christmas tree, gold star in her hands. jimin stepped closer, lifting her a bit higher. using her two hands, she crowned the christmas tree with the star. she glanced down at her mother who was grinning at her. "you did it rosie!" jangmi cheered, holding out her arms as the girl reached for her.

"papa helped too." jimin piped, letting out a small breath when the weight of the four-year-old was transferred from him to her mother. "your contribution is irrelevant, jimin. let the real star shine." jangmi responded playfully, the teasing glint in her eyes obvious as she looked at him. he raised a hand over his chest and let out an over exaggerated gasp. "princess, your mummy just hurt my feelings." he made a show of scrunching his features together, bottom lip jutting out as though he would burst out in tears.

rosalie giggled, gesturing for him to come closer by clenching and unclenching her small hands cutely. he did, eyes flittering at her curiously. she cupped his cheeks and pressed her lips to his forehead. "sorry, papa." she whispered and smiled. jimin's lips curled upwards, touched by her sweet gesture.

"i have the best daughter in the world." he let out with a heavy breath, eyes moving up to meet jangmi's who smiled at him. "how can you not when i'm her mother?" she chimed and he chuckled. "hey give me some credit here." his nose scrunched though his smiling eyes remained friendly. "well, i guess you contributed a small percentage of her wonderfulness." she tilted her head a bit to the side. "wow, thanks." he replied sardonically. she wiggled her brows in response.

"mummy, you promised we'll make a gingerbread house after making the christmas tree pretty and shiny." rosalie looked up at her. "oh, yeah! i almost forgot." jangmi adjusted her grip on the little girl, moving her higher on her hip. "while you two make gingerbread houses, papa will-"

"papa will make gingerbread houses with us." rosalie cut in, an adorable frown on her face. jangmi snorted, the amusement she was feeling clear on her face. jimin opened his mouth and shut it again without saying anything. his gaze shifted to jangmi who was laughing silently. "um, okay. papa will make the gingerbread house with you." he conceded with a deep sigh. jangmi smiled and poked his side to push him ahead.

by the time they were done with the gingerbread men, the kitchen was a mess covered in flour. "rosie, your dad was not made for the kitchen." jangmi sighed, glancing at the area as they got the gingerbread house ready. "mhm," rosalie giggled, staring at jimin with his hair covered by a layer of white powder. "hey! baking is not my strong point." he pouted cutely. "neither is cooking." jangmi chimed, face smug and teasing as she let rosalie help her open the oven.

"hey, i make killer ramen. what do you mean?" jimin leaned against the counter, arms folded over his chest. "if by killer, you mean people being rushed to the emergency room after ingesting it then yeah, sure you make killer ramen." she unfolded herself, dusting off her hands as she looked at him with playful eyes. rosalie giggled next to her, small hand over her mouth to muffle the sounds.

"hey!" he yelled, face going red. "i'm not making anymore cookies. you two keep ganging up against me." he turned his back to them with an annoyed huff. rosalie ran to him, tugging on one jean leg. he glanced down at her staring up at him cutely, batting her lashes and he looked away with a harrumph.

"aww, are you mad?" jangmi cooed behind him. she moved towards him. "i'm not talking to you." he mumbled, not turning to look at her. "aww, rosie, isn't your dad cute?" she glanced to her daughter with a smile, her pinky rubbing behind her ear. "yes, very cute." rosalie bobbed her head in agreement, eyes on her father. she tugged on his jean again but he still only let out another huff. "jimin," jangmi cooed, placing a hand on his shoulder. "what?" he replied, annoyance still evident in his voice. "look at me." she tugged on his shirt the same way rosalie did. "i'm sorry. you can decorate the house when it's done baking." she offered, tapping his arm.

"so what do you say?" she questioned after a moment of silence. "hmm," he hummed in thought. he twisted around to look at her. without warning, jangmi's face was sprayed with a dust of flour. she blinked the sting of flour off before her eyes shut and she took in a deep breath. she nearly choked when she inhaled flour, making her cough. "hey! park jimin!" she yelled when she recovered, nose flaring in anger. she wiped at her face aggressively. "you're so annoying." she huffed and walked away from him. "my offer has been rescinded. you're not going to decorate our gingerbread house." she called behind her.

"papa, you messed up." rosalie shook her head at him. "what do i do?" jimin leaned down, whispering, a panicked look on his face. "say sorry." she suggested, patting his chest. "go!" she waved him in the direction of her mother. "okay! okay!" he straightened and went after jangmi.

"jangmi!" he called after her. she did not answer, still stomping away. he rolled his eyes. she could be overdramatic when she wanted to be. "han jangmi!" he called louder, catching up to her. "what?" she yelled, whirling around, glaring at him. "i was just playing, okay? i'm sorry." he apologised, voice low and chest heaving with every deep breath he took. jangmi folded her arms over her chest, jutting out her hip as she lifted her left brow.

he scrunched his nose. "what more do you want me to say?" he asked with a sigh. "that you're an idiot." she replied with a smirk. he let his eyes roll even as he said what she wanted to hear, "i'm an idiot. a big one." she beamed brightly, tilting her head to the side happily. "yes. yes, you are." she chirped cutely. "you can decorate the cookies with us now." she added, rocking on the heels of her feet. "thank you." he exhaled loudly.

"papa?" rosalie called both their attention to her. they turned to look at her. "yes, sweetie?" jimin smiled softly. she pointed up above to the the archway. jangmi and jimin followed her finger, gazes moving up. "you're under the kissing plant." rosalie remarked, a cheeky grin pulling up her lips.

"uh, yes we are." jimin exhaled, eyes moving back to jangmi who was already staring at him. she tried to step back but he grabbed her arm, pulling her closer and clicking his tongue at her. "too late." he leaned down and pressed his lips to hers in a soft kiss. he smiled against her lips, resting his forehead on hers.

"it's a very merry christmas indeed."

update: it appears that a lot of new readers seem to get this confused so i need to point this out so it doesn't go on. THIS CHAPTER AND EVERY SUBSEQUENT CHAPTER TAGGED AS A SPECIAL HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MAIN STORY. THAT MEANS S, SS, SSS & S⁴ ARE JUST EXTRAS AND NOT A CONTINUATION OF THE MAIN PLOT. so please don't be confused when it seems like jangmi and jimin are together again only to start acting like nothing happened between them because nothing actually did. okay, thanks. 💛
