Nerves bundle my stomach as I pull into the driveway of my new 'home.' Scarlett's car trailing close behind me, I couldn't fit all of my things in one car, so she offered to help me settle in. I shakily climb out of the car; I turn my head when I hear a door slam shut, the pink-haired girl walks towards me with a small smile.

'How you feeling Autie?'

I shrug, 'I-I don't know.'

'New things can be really scary, I get that. But sometimes they can also be just what we need.'

I nod, 'Hopefully.'

Her hand intwines with mine as I walk towards the front-door it was painted a pastel blue colour, I ring the doorbell as my foot begins to tap against the wooden porch. The door swings open to reveal Olivia stood there in sweatpants with a grinning Winter in her arms.

'Hey honey, you don't need to knock! This is your house now.'

'Right, sorry.'

Scarlett waves at her, 'Hey I'm Scarlett, I'm the best friend.'

Olivia grins at her, 'I've heard about you, it's nice to meet you. I'm Liv.'

'Aw, Autie do you talk about me?'

I roll my eyes, 'Let's just get inside.'

We both follow Olivia inside, we don't stop until we reach the kitchen. Sitting on the table was a wooden box which had the word 'Autumn' written on it, I hesitantly edge towards it. Inside there was a new pair of pyjamas, various self-care products and some snacks.

'I just wanted to get you a little welcome gift.'

'Oh, thank you.'

The blonde woman steps closer towards me, 'I want you to think of this house as your home now, that means you can have your friends over whenever you want, you just need to let me know. I do have a couple of ground rules though.'

I wince, 'Okay, what are they?'

'I'm not an idiot, I was only a teenager a couple of years ago, I realise that you are going to be drinking, having boys over, going to parties. A-And that's fine, I know that if I tell you not to do something, you are just going to want to do it more. All I ask is that you're honest, I want us to be able to speak to each other about things. I'm not going to try to be your mom, I know that's not what you want.'

'I actually appreciate that.'

Scarlett laughs slightly, 'That's the most you'll get out of her, she's a little cold at first.'

I narrow my eyes, 'I'm not that cold.'

'You really are, but it's okay. I managed to warm you up!'

I sigh loudly, 'Fine, I guess you did a little.'

Oliva looks amused at our exchange, 'So, how long have you two been friends for?'

'Four months, I helped her when she got a flat tire, and I've forced her into my life ever since.'

'That's exactly what happened.'

'Scarlett can stay over tonight if you want?' My aunt says she sets Winter down on the floor.

I shrug, 'Do you want to stay over?'

The pink-haired girls eyes sparkle, 'I would love too!'

'I'll order you girls some takeout later on. I know that after a day of un-packing the last thing you'll want is to eat something homemade.'

Scarlett looks around excitedly, 'Can I move in as well?'

I roll my eyes, 'No, you can't.'

'Such a meanie.'

...

After nearly five hours of unpacking, we were finished. This room was a lot larger than the one in my old house which didn't help make it feel like home. Half of it looked barren and empty, I don't even know where to start on making it look cosy.

Scarlett fishes something out of her bag before passing it to me, my eyebrows furrow as I look down at the object in my hands before a content smile works its way onto my face. It was a photograph of me, Scarlett, Luke, Toby and Sammy at the costume party when we were all dressed as the Scooby-Doo gang, the picture was sitting in a pastel pink frame.

'I-I love it.'

'I felt like it was a nice housewarming gift.'

I give her a brief hug before setting the frame down on my nightstand next to my salt lamp.

Scarlett lets out a loud sigh before collapsing on my bed, 'I don't think I've ever felt this exhausted.'

I lie down next to her, 'Me either, who knew that moving boxes would be so hard?'

'Not me, I wouldn't have offered to help if I knew.'

'Charming.'

'Sorry Autie, I'm just not good at things which require physical strength.'

'I could tell, you barely managed to lift the box with my pillows in it.'

'Hey! They were heavier than they looked!'

I snort, 'Whatever makes you feel better.'

'So, you and Luke are going on a date.'

I groan loudly, 'Do, we really have to talk about this again?'

She nods frantically, 'Yes we do, I feel like every time we meet there is new developments.'

I sigh loudly as I sit up and clutch a pillow against my stomach, 'Yes, we are eventually going on a date. I just don't know when I'm just waiting until my head is in the right space.'

'I think that's a really good choice, I'm proud of you for waiting until it's right for you.'

I cringe slightly as I begin speaking again, 'W-We also kind of confessed our feelings towards each other.'

Scarlett lets out a loud squeal as she kicks her feet, 'Oh my gosh! It's happening, I can't cope. The ship is sailing.'

I roll my eyes, 'I feel like you're more concerned about my love life than yours.'

'Absolutely, I am!'

'So, how are you feeling about Toby and his new girlfriend?'

She shrugs as a pink tinge forms onto her cheeks, 'I-I'm feeling better, I actually kind of slept with someone else at Luke's birthday party.'

My eyes widen, 'And I'm only just finding this out now?'

'Y-You've just had so much going on, I didn't want to burden you with my silly issues.'

My eyebrows knit together, 'Scar, you'd never burden me with any problems or issues. You're my friend.'

'I-I know.'

'So, who is he?'

'I-I don't really know who he is, all I know is that he trains with Luke for boxing and his name is Rocky.'

I burst out laughing, 'That's pretty funny, that he's a boxer and he's called Rocky.'

'H-He was really handsome as well; I honestly think he was carved by angels.'

'Why do I feel like there's a but coming?'

Scarlett huffs, 'He's just so arrogant! I don't even know how I fell for his charm, I bumped into him yesterday at the supermarket and he was such an ass!'

'In what way was he an ass?'

'He was just so monotone and grumpy!'

I laugh slightly at her annoyance, 'I don't think I've ever seen you this riled up before.'

'I don't think anyone has ever made me feel this riled up before! I don't even want to pursue things further with him, I just wanted to form a friendship! But he told me that I was too perky for his liking, like what the fuck does that even mean?'

I roll my eyes, 'Fuck him. Honestly, if he doesn't want your friendship then it's his loss.'

My bedroom door swings open Winter is stood there with a tired smile on her face, she was wearing a Frozen nightie with a fluffy dressing gown over the top, a stuffed animal clutched in her hands.

'I'm being forced to go to sleep now.'

Olivia appears behind her with a flustered expression, 'I'm not forcing you to do anything baby, it's just eight o'clock is when most six-year-olds go to sleep. I said I'd read you a story.'

'Whatever.'

I laugh as I walk towards her and give her a small hug, 'Night Winnie.'

'Night sissy! Night sissy's friend!' She calls out before racing out of the room, giggling as she does.

My aunt sighs, 'Night girls, if you need anything just let me know.'

'Thank you, goodnight.' I murmur as I close the door.

'Your aunt does seem really nice.'

I shrug, 'People always seem nice at first, they just don't always stay nice.'

Scarlett frowns, 'I'm really sorry that you've had to grow up and live through things that make you doubt when people are nice to you.'

'I-I'm trying not to.'

'I know, you are.'
