Marco POV

It is currently 7:00 p.m, and me and the boys are heading over to my mom's house which I bought for her after I killed my dad. He had kidnapped her when she was young, forcing her into marriage, abusing her often, and making her life miserable. Through that, she still cared for me and was the best mother in the world, she is without a doubt the strongest woman I know.

So when I got rid of my dad, I knew that this Mafia life was not one that she ever wanted. So I bought her a house and gave her the opportunity to live her life without having to be surrounded by the underworld. However, she still treats all the boys and my men as her sons, even all the guards love when she comes to visit.

When she called me earlier, I could hear the worry in her voice when she told me she knew about what happened with the Mexicans, which is why she is inviting us for dinner, which I am super excited about because well, nothing beats my moms cooking.

I was very surprised to find out that she also invited Bex, I'm not sure how she found out about her, but she seemed overly excited to meet Bex.

Anyways, Bex killed it today, while I watched her do all those calculations all I could think was how incredibly perfect she is. I mean not only is she so gorgeous, funny, witty, a good fighter, and badass, but also highly intelligent. Not to mention when she pushed her glasses up her nose my heart melted.

I also found it amusing how she had so many connections, and was able to get help from people not exactly from threatening them, but because she helped them in the past. It was awkward though when me and Rosco showed up to get the parts we were assigned to get, because I had to tell the guy I was Bex's boyfriend.

He had the audacity to say, "Eh, I always thought she'd go for better". WHAT THE FUCK. And Rosco bullied me about it the whole ride back.

We got back and I didn't really see Bex for the rest of the day, and we didn't get a chance to talk about what happened last night. She was in the garage organizing the parts, making sure we didn't get ripped off, and me and the boys were working on delaying our shipments and planning an attack for tomorrow when the Mexican's would be at our docks to steal the shipments.

At 5:00 Bex left, I let her take one of the cars to go home and change and I gave her the address to my mom's house because we were going to meet her there.

We arrive at my mom's house and she must have heard the cars because she comes out right away, wearing a simple but nice dress, with an apron over it. Clearly she is cooking. "Ah my bambinos, get in get in." she says as she comes and kisses us all on the cheek.

"Now where is the girl?" she says looking at Enzo and me, raising an eyebrow. "She is going to meet us here, she had to go home first." I reply, and Mamma nods.

We make our way into the living room that is joint to the kitchen so while my mom is cooking, we are talking to her about everything that has happened since our last visit.

She also asks questions about the boys, wanting to know about Eliza, Antonio's fiancé, and if we had girlfriends, giving me a death stare when I said no.

30 minutes later, the doorbell rang, I assume it is Bex. I go to stand but Mamma smacks me with a towel and says that she will get the door.

She hurries off and I start to get nervous, I'm not sure why. My mom always hated other girls I have been with, but I never cared, so why do I care if my mother will like Bex or not?

I heard the door open 10 minutes ago, but Mamma and Bex haven't walked into the room yet. I stand up to go look for them, when they both walk in, laughing about something, both with huge smiles on their faces.

The sight makes me smile, my mom looks so happy and so does Bex. Bex is wearing a loose, baby blue dress that stops right above her knees, and strappy heels. She looks pretty and perfect for this occasion.

Mamma looks at me, then at Enzo, and says, "Enzo, you should have brought this lady to me before, she makes me feel young again! No wonder your mom has only good things to say about her and considers her a daughter." Enzo laughs and responds, "She is my hidden gem."

My mom then says, "Ok everyone, dinner is ready." and leads us to the dining room where she did an incredible job at arranging the table. I go to sit but my mom says, "Marco can you help me bring the food on to the table?"

I follow her back into the kitchen where she turns around and stares at me smiling. "That girl is the kindest young woman I have ever met, the second I opened the door, I felt like I have known her my whole life. Please tell me you are catching feelings for her, yes?"

I don't know how to respond. Sure my heart beats a little quicker when I am with Bex, and I never want her to be hurt ever again, but was I developing feelings for her, was I even capable of that?

I shrug and my mom says, "Ok, well she is the type of girl that will bring out the best in you, just saying." and then she goes back into the dining room.

I follow her, now with the dishes in my hand, and sit down next to Bex who smiles at me. I whisper in her ear, "You look beautiful tonight Principessa" and she blushes. We begin dinner and all I have to say is time flew by fast.

My mom made multiple different pasta dishes and it tastes incredible. Our conversations range from newest movies, to who is going to get married next, after Antonio. Bex has everyone laughing as always and it is fun to see her and Enzo make witty comments at each other, their friendship is everything.

At the end of the night, we say goodbye and go to leave, Mamma hugging Bex tightly, saying "Make sure you come back soon, I like you." Bex smiles and thanks her for the dinner, then we all leave. I offer to drive Bex home, saying that I can pick up the car she drove here tomorrow, and Bex agrees.

When we get in the car she states, "My god your mother is the best, I am very envious of you." She must have said that by accident because she lowers her eyes and looks out the window once we start driving away. I look at her and take one hand to turn her chin towards me.

"I saw your scars this morning, I swear to god I will kill that son of a bitch, what did he do to you?" I say in a calming and gentle tone. That must have been the wrong thing to say because she frowns and snaps her head back towards the window, "I don't need your pity and I sure as hell don't want to talk about it!"

I instantly feel bad. What was I thinking asking her so upfront about that. But before the silence can grow too uncomfortable, she reaches for one of my hands that was on the arm rest, and holds it, making me feel once more at peace.

"I'm sorry, you have been nothing but kind to me, I'm not usually someone to snap, I just don't like talking about my past." she says, shooting me a small smile. I nod and we continue the ride in silence, but it was comfortable now.

When I arrive at her apartment, which I still hate, she turns to me and says, "Ok, I know we didn't talk about us, and it's ok if you don't feel the same, but there is something about you I just can't ignore and whatever we have, I don't want to end it yet."

I smile at her words and lightly kiss her lips, not intensely or hungry, but it is a nice kiss. "I'll see you tomorrow Principessa." With that she gets out, blushing, and I wait until she enters her apartment to drive away.
